Round 6 has come to a close and I finally have received all the votes! I WOULD like to point out that within 4 hours of posting the songs last week, I received votes from 5 of the participants. However, I didn't receive votes from the final participant until 45 minutes before the deadline. For shame! I have your results right here. For one of you, the wait has definitely been worth it. But before I reveal the results, let's take a look at who submitted each of the songs last round: Song 1 was David J.'s choice, "'Til Death Do Us Part" by Madonna Song 2 was Drew's choice, "I Am" by Hilary Duff Song 3 was John's choice, "Missing You" by Jem Song 4 was Mike's choice, "Beautifully Broken" by Ashlee Simpson Song 5 was Bry's choice, "I'll Be" by Jacynthe Song 6 was Sam's choice, "Party" by Christine Anu Now to get down to business... Here are your results! Coming in first place this round with a score of 11 points is: John! Congratulations go to John, as he takes his SECOND first place finish in Song Contest 4! Hmmm.... We've just finished Round 6 and Bry has won twice, John has won twice, and David J. has won twice. I'm noticing a pattern! In Round 6, John received one first place ranking as well as three other rankings inside the Top 3. Here are the rest of your results: 2. Drew - 13 points 3. David J. - 14 points Well, well... That leaves us with fourth, fifth, & last place still to be revealed. Sam....Mike.....Bry.... I'm sure you're all anxious to find out which of you has made it to Round 7. And I'll tell you. But before I do that, I wanted to say that Song Contest 4 has been really fun to moderate thus far. You guys have submitted some great songs....and some of the rounds have been very closely contested. Those of you that are advancing to Round 7: keep up the good work! Now where was I? Oh right! The rest of the results. NOW I remember! Okay, so Bry...... Guess who made it to Round 7 by scoring 15 points in Round 6? Mike did! Congrats, Mike! You finished in Fourth place this round! So that leaves two other results to be revealed. And with Sam & Bry anxiously awaiting the results, I won't leave them in suspense any longer. Someone else ALSO got 15 points in Round 6, tying them with Mike for fourth place. And that person is: Bry! I'm sorry, Sam. With 21 points in Round 6, you have finished last....meaning you are eliminated from Song Contest #4. Sam, you're off to join Jessica, Miguel, Ari, Dan, Kworb, & Jo-L in the "jury house." The seven of you are invited to continue voting in future rounds of Song Contest #4. I hope you'll do so. Also of note in Round 6: Mike received two first place rankings. David J., Drew, & Bry each received one first place ranking. Congratulations to all of you who advanced! You may now begin sending me your songs for Round 7. Please get them to me as soon as possible. You have until Sunday, November 13 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time to PM them to me or you will be penalized 10 points.

Ugh, people, I can't believe that round after round, many of you still stick to the easy way by submitting songs by artists that have proven to be favorites in this message board. Madonna? Ashlee Simpson? Hilary Duff? You should be ashamed of yourselves! Show us that you listen to something else than mainstream pop music!

Show us that you listen to something else than mainstream pop music! While I have submitted songs from Ashlee Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, and Natasha Bedingfield, I actually gotta agree. Honestly, I don't like that in Play or Trash, Aimee Mann and Tracy Bonham barely get any votes, yet Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani get so many. Hence why I picked a lesser known song for the next round. ;D

i agree with both of you, although a number of my picks have had reasonable success here. perhaps in the next contest we could have no eliminations but same rules for submitting songs. You could have, say, 16 contestants divided into two groups of 8 with contestants rating songs in their own group each week similar to what we've done this contest. Then after 8-10 rounds the top 4 from each group then do a series of 'play-off' knock-outs where contestants must vote for which song they preferred in the other playoff games. So it'd go something like: 1st Playoff round Game 1.1: 1st Pool A v 4th Pool B Game 1.2: 2nd Pool A v 3rd Pool B Game 1.3: 3rd Pool A v 2nd Pool B Game 1.4: 4th Pool A v 1st Pool B So for example, 1st in pool A would download the songs from the other 3 games and choose in each which song they preferred, and so on. 2nd Playoff round Game 2.1: Winner Game 1.1 v Winner Game 1.3 Game 2.2: Winner Game 1.2 v Winner Game 1.4 Final Game 3.1: Winner Game 2.1 v Winner Game 2.2 The advantage of no elimination for the initial 8-10 rounds is that there would hopefully be less of the ashlee simpson-hilary duff style artists. BTW I just made that up then so excuse me if it doesn't sound good

Now just hold on a f*ckin' second there! I am so g*ddamn sick of people on this board attacking people who happen to like "mainstream pop music." You make it seem as if I am defective if I "dare" to enjoy a song by somebody like Madonna or Ashlee Simpson. Ari, I don't appreciate for one freakin' second that you feel the need to scold me for submitting a Madonna song. In fact, it is a SIXTEEN YEAR OLD Madonna song that happens to mean a f*ckin' lot to me personally. To see you attack it as an "inferior" entry because it doesn't meet YOUR criteria for a "worthy" candidate is insulting beyond words. And you know what makes it even worse is that you KNOW that I DO listen to lots of international or "unique" songs. But you know what? So the f*ck what if I didn't listen to anything other than mainstream pop. It's my f*ckin' choice. If you don't care for my submissions, then hit "delete" after the first seven seconds of the entry turn you off. Don't stand out here and get all self-righteous. It doesn't change anybody's listening habits, but what it DOES do is infuriate people like me. Several members of this board have lamented that they feel "out of place" because they don't like "mainstream" music, yet ... I also find that those of us who do enjoy a lot of "mainstream" are scorned. Whatever... As for Jess, oh, PUH-LEASE just give me a f*ckin' break. I have never met anybody so g*ddamn wishy-washy in my life. I will say that you have a BRILLIANT career ahead of you as a an American politician because you can sit on a fence like few others can. No matter WHAT somebody says, you will agree, even if it means contradicting yourself. In summary (as if you haven't figured this out by now), I hereby withdraw from this lil' contest. It's been entertaining to a point, and I do thank Sam for turning me on to three stellar tracks from Moustache, Ricki-Lee, and Ben Lee. However, no contest is worth having my blood boil over. I am too busy and stressed to deal with this right now anyway. The boiling blood and seeing red ought to tell me something, and what it tells me is that it's time to exit, stage right. Here I go: Good luck to the remaining contestants!

based on xfer's above post, i don't believe he was attacking you for liking mainstream music, but more that this contest should really be more about lesser known artists and that. IMO the most disappointing songs in this contest have been those by artists who are in the top tier of fame internationally such as ashlee simpson and hilary duff because they're so well known that if I had an interest in them I could just as easily go out and buy their album or download it. I did, however, rate the ashlee and hilary songs the worst in this round because I simply don't like them.
That's not to say I don't think you shouldn't like them or that 'mainstream' is bad (given i like all kinds of music) but simply the most interesting songs for mine in this contest were those that I would not have known to exist had it not been for you guys entering them here, and that includes the ones i didn't like much.

Sorry if I pissed you off David, I am really sorry. But I wasn't attacking your music taste. I have seen your chart and I KNOW that you can like diverse music. The thing is, in the description of the forum, it says "Choose your favorite unknown songs" and that, to me, means that extremely commercial artists have a higher chance of winning, making the others who submit unknown songs being eliminated instantly. Ok, your Madonna song is old, but let's say, judging by what the people at this message board like, it's a lot more possible that many people know that Madonna song, than let's say the Jacynthe one. And it's that chance that gives the advantage to the one who submitted said song.
To add more to the fact that I wasn't attacking you, if anyone sees my chart, I also do like mainstream music, so attacking it would be contradictory. In the recent months, I have charted songs by Robbie Williams, The Killers, Sarah McLachlan or Westlife. So I tell you again, I was NOT attacking the people for liking that music, I was saying that it's not fair for the ones that try harder to submit lesser known songs.
I think you should reconsider your participation in the game, I am the one who shouldn't keep checking this forum, cause I have been eliminated, not you.
