I had the pleasure of checking out "Brokeback Mountain" earlier tonight. The movie was great despite of the fact that I had to hold back my sadness for a couple of times during the movie. The movie does bring back a lot of thoughts and reflections, both depressing and optimistic. I just feel grateful that we don't have to go through some of the hardships that they have to go through in the movie.

I'm surprised not many people here have seen this movie? Or at least that there's not much discussion in it. I guess M4B people don't discuss much, do they? I haven't seen this yet. Soon...

Well, Brokeback Mountain finally found its way to conservative Kelowna this past week, and I managed to catch a show.
All I can say is "wow."
I've been reading about this film for some time now, and can honestly say that it not only met, but exceeded my expectations. The film was absolutely brilliant in the way it portrayed such a taboo (then) topic.
Michelle Williams was absolutely heartbreaking as the long-suffering Alma. Seriously, after Dawson's Creek, who thought we'd see a role like that from here. Anne Hathaway surprised me as well. Obviously, though, Heath and Jake brought so much life to their roles. Heath's portrayal of Ennis was fantastic, and the scene in the closet was the icing on the cake.
I have nothing but praise for this film.

The scene "in the closet" I've heard termed as the most moving scene in cinematic history. I don't know if that's a stretch? But that's a lot to live up too.

I really liked this movie! Not my favorite movie of all time, but it was pretty darn good. And it made me cry!

Except there was way more than 35 people. The theater was really small. Maybe room for 100 people. They have 2 theaters in the town and my friend is only 16 and the other theaters won't let her see it, cause I'm only 19 or something or whatever, but the small theater doesn't care cause they don't get much business anymore.
