I think this topic has been done but I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm interested in core artists as it applies to your personal charts.
Anyway, who do you consider a core artist for your personal chart? Basically, an artist that does well with pretty much every song they release. What do you consider for an artist to be considered your personal core artist? And what are some past core artists you've had that you no longer consider them to be a core artist for you anymore and why?

I could probably come up with MANY core artists for my chart, but I would say that a few core artists of mine right now are:
Janet Jackson Mary J. Blige Fergie Justin Timberlake Gwen Stefani Fantasia Ludacris Beyonce Joss Stone Christina Aguilera
I don't know that I have too many that WERE core artists, but aren't anymore... Maybe:
Will Smith Backstreet Boys Savage Garden Spice Girls...
Pretty much any of the ones who are core artists, but aren't anymore, are NOT core artists of mine anymore simply because they aren't recording music anymore (either officially or unofficially). When I like an artist, it takes a lot to make me stop liking their music. I never really cast any of my favorites aside. I like them whether they're "hot" or "cold." The only two I can think of who stopped being core artists of mine, but are still recording are Pink & Kelly Clarkson.
I just haven't dug anything Pink's released since "Get The Party Started," until some of the material from I'm Not Dead. But I wouldn't say she's returned to "core" status for me. As for Kelly Clarkson, she "sounds" good, but I just don't find her to be authentic.

For me, a core artist is someone that can pretty much hit the top of my chart, or near the top of my chart with ease for pretty much any song they release, as well as have albums that become favourites of mine. I think once a core artist releases an album that I'm not super interested in, their title is lost. Here are some of mine along with approximate timeframes in which I consider them to be core artists for me:
* KT Tunstall (2005-present). Upon the release of 'Black Horse And The Cherry Tree' and the fact that her CD was awesome, that was enough to propell KT to almost immediate "core artist" status on my charts with four #1 songs and a few more Top 10s on my MT40 chart. When her new CD comes out, she's nearly guaranteed to hit #1 with the first single unless it sucks, lol.
* Tegan and Sara (2004-present) They had a slow beginning for me but by near 2004, they had a few Top 10 singles for me and with the release of 'So Jealous', that put them into "core artist" status.
* Kathleen Edwards (2004-present) Kathleen got there with backup from her debut CD despite not having any strong singles on my charts until her second CD. Now she's pretty much sure to get Top 10 with her singles.
* Melissa McClelland (2004-present) Similar situation to Kathleen except Melissa got her "core artist" status after having two #1s from her first CD. While her second album wasn't as strong, she's still able to effortlessly get Top 10.
* Chantal Kreviazuk (1998-present) While not as strong as she used to be on my charts, she's still able to get a few #1 singles with every album and Top 10s are always always guaranteed for her singles.
* Dixie Chicks (2006-present) They've always done well on my chart but they didn't achieve core artist status for me until last year when they got 3 #1s from 'Taking The Long Way'. That album should keep them in "core artist" status for another year or so.
* Sarah Slean (2005-present) Sarah got her title after the release of her 'Day One' CD, which gave out 4 Top 10 hits and helped to bring her past albums into the limelight for me as well. Her next album is sure to be another big hit for me.
Here are some past core artists. * David Usher (2002-2005) David Usher became a core artist for me following 5 straight Top 10s from 'Morning Orbit' on my MT40 chart (and 4 Top 2s on The Max chart). He followed that up with another hit CD but his title was lost upon the release of his not-so-great 'If God Had Curves' CD. His latest album 'Strange Birds' might help give the title back but not yet. He needs to prove himself again.
* Imogen Heap (2005-06) Imogen got the status for a short while but only a few months when it seemed everything she'd ever release would automatically go to #1 but when she got a flop on my MT40 chart, I figured the title didn't quite fit anymore.
*Jason Mraz (2004-06) Like some of the others, Jason's first CD had 5 straight #1 songs on my MT40 chart (3 of which hit #1 on The Max) and while I did love 'Mr A-Z', the album and the songs from it didn't have the staying power that the first CD did so Jason lost his title.
* Alanis Morissette (1996-2002) Alanis was a powerhouse in the late 90s, scoring huge #1 singles and getting constant CD rotation for me. After 'Under Rug Swept' had run its course, it seemed Alanis had as well and she was downgraded. 'So Called Chaos' was a bigger CD for me but didn't quite help bring her back to be a "core artist". Like David Usher, she may have trouble getting back.
Potential future core artists. These are artists that I may consider to be "core artists" for me in time but right now there isn't enough to go on to determine that as an important factor is whether they can maintain success on my personal charts (and my iPod/CD player) for a significant amount of time. -Brandi Carlile -Serena Ryder

Interesting topic... there are plenty I can think of: Updated 2015
Current core artists
Michelle Branch/The Wreckers (2002-present) - Became a core artist (solo) with "All You Wanted" (and subsequent album purchase), remained successful during her stint in The Wreckers. I still consider her core despite not having a #1 since 2011; her inactivity has been the main reason. But if she comes back with strong material, she could still very well hit #1.
Kelly Clarkson (2004-present) - Despite success in the "Thankful" era, it wasn't until the "Breakaway" era, where she had 5 straight #1 singles, when she became a core artist; the "My December" era kept her as a core artist as it lived up to my expectations. She has continued with many #1's from every album since, with her 2012 hit "Dark Side" being one of my favourite songs of all time, and the "Piece By Piece" era has kept her successful.
Maroon 5 (2007-present) I know this is a new inclusion to the list; despite "She Will Be Loved" being my #1 of 2004, early reviews for "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" catapulted Maroon 5 to core artist status, which they have not been before. Even more #1's and status as regular hitmakers have kept them core since.
Kate Voegele (2008-present) Well, where do I begin with Kate? Ever since I first heard "Only Fooling Myself", I knew she was someone special, and destined to become a core artist. From that moment on, she broke pretty much every record in my chart's existence, scoring six #1 hits and several other top 5's in only her first year and a half, with "Only Fooling Myself" breaking the record for most weeks at #1 (10 weeks) and most weeks on the chart (52 weeks). In 2009, her domination furthered, as she's often had as many as three top 10 songs in the same week, as well as me seeing her live three times and meeting her twice. Needless to say, she's pretty much taken over the definition of "core Bryan artist", as the "Gravity Happens" and "Wild Card" eras have also had more huge #1's.
Katy Perry (2008-present) It's rare for an artist to have immediate success and sustain it, but her streak of catchy pop songs, making her the second artist to have three straight #1's at the start of her career, and now a total of 10 #1's over her first three albums. With a track record like that, you'd better bet she's core!
Taylor Swift (2009-present) "Love Story" was the song that really made me notice Taylor Swift and she has kept her success ever since, with five #1's so far and many other top 10's. The "1989" album has proven that she has kept her core artist status as it's had three top 5's.
Colbie Caillat (2008-2010, 2013-present) I realize that Colbie Caillat got into the spotlight for me with "Realize", and I realize that her second album carried it on with "I Never Told You" being my second biggest hit of 2010. She temporarily lost her core status with "All Of You", but a series of hits, including the huge #1 hit "Hold On", have brought her back to core status.
Alyssa Reid (2010-present) Ever since she first made my chart with "If You Are" at age 17, Canadian singer Alyssa Reid has seen a lot of success since, including a total of 5 #1's.
Demi Lovato (2011-present) With six #1 hits, including "Give Your Heart A Break" and "Heart Attack", both of which were top 5 for their respective years, it's pretty clear that Demi Lovato has worked her way into core artist status!
Carly Rae Jepsen (2012-present) Her core status started with the earworm "Call Me Maybe", and as one of three artists to have at least one song on my chart for two years straight (the streak included two #1 hits), and as she's made a strong comeback with "I Really Like You", it's clear she's remained a core for me!
Core artists who are currently inactive, but have a good chance of remaining core artists
3 Doors Down (2003-2012) The "Away From The Sun" era really impressed me, and the "Seventeen Days" album continued the success... they stayed successful with two more #2 year-end songs in 2008 and 2011... only time will tell if their new material after changing a few members will be as strong as before.
Former core artists without much chance of regaining their title
Jennifer Lopez (1999-2003) She had a streak of 11 top 5 hits on my chart from 1999 to 2003, but after "All I Have" reached the top 5, she hasn't been back to the top 10 since. I highly doubt she'll ever have another big hit on my chart again, or if she does, it'll likely be a one-off.
Backstreet Boys (1999-2001) Another artist from my chart's early days that didn't stay a core artist long; their comeback in 2005 was successful, but not enough to regain the title.
'N Sync (2000-2001) Similarly, 'N Sync was really successful in my chart's early days, but since then, Justin's career has been rather inconsistent with some singles doing well and others not even charting, and is unlikely to become a core artist in his own right.
Destiny's Child (2000-2004) They became a core artist as a group, and Beyoncé's solo releases from "Dangerously In Love" were generally successful, but after Destiny's Child broke up, Beyoncé could not get success on my chart until "Irreplaceable"; her recent inconsistent positions have rendered her unlikely to become a core artist solo.
Pink (2001-2002, 2006) Pink had much success during the "M!ssundaztood" era, but trailed a little with "Try This" despite a few top 10's. It was "Who Knew" that temporarily made her a core artists again, but lost the title with later singles from the album. While she still gets fairly regular top 10's, she's too inconsistent to really be core.
Ryan Cabrera (2004-2005) He had many hits in this time frame... and depending if he comes back with stuff I like enough, he could regain his core artist status. Well, he has had several top 10's afterwards, but his output was too inconsistent timewise to maintain core artist status.
Avril Lavigne (2002-2011) - All 3 of her first albums are among my favourites, and always seems to get #1's/top 5's with her official singles. However, around this time she started to suck, and her latest album pretty much sealed it, no core artist of mine would ever record a "song" as bad as "Hello Kitty".
Ashlee Simpson (2005-2008) Her debut album era was successful, but it wasn't until "I Am Me" was released when Ashlee started to be considered a core artist for me. "Bittersweet World" kept her at the core, but her inactivity resulted in her removal from the list.
Former core artists that could regain their title
Rob Thomas (2005-2006, 2009-2012) "This Is How A Heart Breaks" temporarily made him a core artist, something he never did in Matchbox Twenty, but a lack of focus after "Ever The Same" led to later singles flopping on my chart; "Little Wonders" did make the top 10 afterwards, and he did regain core status with 2 more solo #1's from "Cradlesong" and a #1 with Matchbox Twenty "She's So Mean", but the next album will really decide it for him.
Christina Aguilera (2002-2008) - I don't really think she's really lost her core artist status over my chart's first decade; despite having success on her debut album, it wasn't until the "Stripped" era when I considered her a core artist, which she remains to this day, having had 3 #1's from "Back To Basics". "Bionic" killed her chances, and while she did have a top 5 hit with "Your Body" and top 5's with Maroon 5 and A Great Big World, and while "Lotus" was generally a good album, it's hard to tell if she will ever regain her crown.
Britney Spears (1999-2000, 2003-2012) One of the most successful artists of my first 2 years of charting, Britney made a comeback with the "In The Zone" album. She continued with more #1's from her next three albums, but teaming up with Will.i.am temporarily derailed her and while she had two #1's in 2013, neither lasted for me. So far, the jury is out on her, but with "Pretty Girls" making slow moves, it's questionable.
Gwen Stefani (2007-2014?) Another recent one; previously she had been inconsistent, but with "The Sweet Escape", she had the potential to become a core artist, and "4 In The Morning" re-affirmed it. No Doubt's "Push & Shove" album kept her in the spotlight with a huge #1 "Settle Down", and while her solo "Baby Don't Lie" reached #2, it had a quick run. The next album may very well be the decider.
Artists who had potential, but never became core
Daughtry Two big hit singles from their debut album and another one on the rise could make Daughtry a core artist, but I don't consider them one; might have to wait until their second album. Ultimately, their success became more sporadic and they never became core.
Nelly Furtado She almost became a core artist in 2001 with 2 of that year's top 10 singles... she's had assorted success since then, finally achieving her first #1 with "Say It Right"... but I had a feeling her next album will be the decider. In the end it was - pretty much everything from "The Spirit Indestructible" failed to chart, nailing her hit coffin.
Rihanna She's had a few hits already... "Umbrella" is currently rising towards the top 10, and if her new album is any good (which Good Girl Gone Bad was) and gives her more #1's (which it didn't)., she could have become a core artist. Of course, she ended up not having any top 10's since 2011, and releasing many crap singles, as well as failing to chart at all with any of her recent singles, has shown that she is about as far from core as she could be.
Natasha Bedingfield Despite many top 10's from 2005 to 2010, and a couple collaboration top 10's since, she never officially became core.
Lifehouse Another band with many top 10's over their career, they've never really had more than 2 top 10's per album, so they're generally "almost, but not quite core".
David Cook Despite three top 2 hits, and a strong first two albums, David Cook never quite got past the "almost" status, and while he still gets chart hits today, he never quite made it to core.
Lady GaGa She had many hits from 2009 to 2011, but was a little too inconsistent to be core.
One Direction Another group with many hits, including three #1's. However, they've underperformed several times, so that doesn't qualify them.
Artists who still could become core
Lauren Winans In 2014, she had my top song of the year, "Better At Breaking", as well as the follow-up, "Wicked Game" also hitting #1. However, she will need a full album to even be considered an official core, but with no news on the horizon... who knows?
Victoria Duffield On her "Accelerate" album, she has had two #1's and a #2, including one of my all-time biggest hits "More Than Friends". I feel she will keep it up and officially become core at some point!
Ariana Grande She's been massively successful with four top 10's from "My Everything", including a #1. Can she keep it up?
Tyler Shaw If anything, "House Of Cards" could catapult him to core status if it gives him more top 5's afterwards.

My core artists: Celine Dion This has to be a given. Come on, let's review the facts. She's had the #1 song of the year 5 times in the 11 years I've done my chart. She's the only artist to have 2 songs at #1 for double digit weeks. She's had the most #1 songs with 11. She's the only artist to reach #1 with a B-Side. Unless my count is off, she's had a record 21 songs reach the top 10, 20 of which went top 5 (only In Some Small Way missed). When it comes to pretty much any record on my chart, chances are she has it. Jesse McCartney He hasn't been solo long, but he's been consistent on my chart, only missing the top 10 once when She's No You peaked at #11. Unofficial singles have also charted as well. Of his 5 "official" singles, 3 went to #1, and another went top 5. He now has 7 #1 hits, and is 2nd only behind Celine in most #1s on my chart.
Kelly Clarkson She's been consistent from the beginning as well. She's had 7 of her 9 singles reach the top 3 on my chart (not including Never Again) including 4 #1s, becoming only the 3rd artist ever on my chart to accomplish that. Her only top 10 miss was "Low" which peaked at #13.
Christina Aguilera Again, statistics don't lie. Her misses are few and far between. Her misses were Dirrty (#27), CHUD (DNC) and recently Candyman only reached #21. However her first 5 singles to chart for me all reached the top 2. She's made the top 3 in total 8 times since 1999. I find that pretty mamzing.
Jewel Another artist who has been consistent from the beginning. Another 4 #1s artist with several other hits to her name including Hands and Down So Long.
Enya Yet another 4 #1 artist, in fact, she is currently in 2nd place for most overall weeks at #1. She scored 4 straight #1 hits, Someone Said Goodbye broke the streak with only reached #9. If it's got Enya on it, it's sure to do well here.
Amber: Another act who shows nothing but consistency on my chart. She's probably the queen of longevity even if it's a low top 10 peak. Of her 14 singles, 9 of them have reached the top 10. She had the #2 song of 1998 with a song that only peaked at #3.
Carrie Underwood I think we can safely add her to the core list. 4 top 3 hits in less than 2 years is nothing to sneeze at. Her only miss so far was Don't Forget to Remember Me which only got to #14. The new queen of country has really made an impact on my chart in her brief, but already fulfilling career.
Jessica Simpson Another one who's has been successful since the word go. She's racked up 8 top 10 hits including 3 #1 songs, and of course my crush on her is no secret.
Rob Thomas Rob has been consistent as part of Matchbox 20 and solo. The band managed 6 top 10s in their reign and sololy Rob has only missed the top 10 once. I never considered him much when it comes to "core" but he's done very well here.
Britney Spears Britney will remain in this section for the time being. She's another artist with 3 #1 hits and several more top 10's. I think her only total miss on the chart was Outrageous, which has long since been forgotten. She needs something new soon though.
Gloria Estefan She's gotten herself 2 #1 hits and 2 #2 hits and several more top 10's. Gloria's definitely had some longevity here, been core since the beginning and I hope she can only continue! Doesn't hurt that I've met her twice too!
Jonas Brothers Since Year 3000 hit my chart, the Jonas Brothers have been very consistent scoring 3 #1 hits. The "A Little Bit Longer" album spawned 6 top 20 hits on my chart including a #1.
Taylor Swift Taylor has been showing great potential lately. She's got 2 #1s to her name already, and many other hits making my chart from both albums.
Declan Another artist I think can safely enter this category. Since making his first chart appearance in 2007 he's topped the chart 4 times so far, plus 2 more #2s. He has 9 hits on my chart so far, and has never missed the top 20. (His 10th hit just debuted at #34 and is bound to be his 10th top 20.)
Artists who have been removed from the "core" panel:
Sheryl Crow Since I started my chart, her first 5 songs went top 10, and since that era she's scored another 2 #1 hits. However, her most recent album "Wildflower" was a major disappointment. Good is Good only reached #27, and Always On Your Side didn't do too much better only hitting #21.
Madonna Madonna is possibly the most successful artist on my chart to not have a #1 hit. With 10 top 10 hits to her name, the material girl is usually on mark, but her last two albums have said otherwise. American Life failed to create a top 10 hit, with the title track only reaching #13 (which I regret charting it that high) and Hollywood only going to #32. Her COTDF album scored a top 10 with "Sorry" but the rest of the album's releases barely scraped the top 20. 90's Madonna was almost flawless, but today's Madonna leaves one wondering if she'll ever come back completely strong.
Alanis Morissette Another artist who started great, but lately hasn't lived up. Scoring hit after hit, she eventually got her first #1 in 2002 with Hands Clean, but it's downhill from there. Of her 5 songs to chart since HC, only "Everything" hit the top 10. The rest failed to make the top 30. She went from consistent, to hit or miss, to usually miss.
'N Sync Is the only group in my chart's history to score 3 #1 hits. However since Justin has gone solo and not looked back, it doesn't look like they'll have a shot at the top again. And as long as Just keeps releasing songs like UnsexyWhack and My Bad, he ain't making the list either.
Mariah Carey Another act who was consistent in the 90s scoring hit after hit here. However, Rainbow was kinda like the beginning of the end here. Although she scored 2 top 20s from the album, she didn't hit my top 10 again until Through the Rain in 2002. Since then it's been more miss than hit. The E=MC2 era spawned only 1 hit on my chart, which was I Stay in Love. Most of her 00's material is just unstomachable for me.
Future Core Contenders:
Gretchen Wilson She's done very well for herself recently. Her first album only scored 1 big hit and 3 stiffs, but her All Jacked Up album spawned 2 #1 hits, and she just got her 4th top 10. Can she make the core section soon? She hasn't hit the top 10 since "Come to Bed" barely scrapped.
Martina McBride I got into Martina when I Love You came out. It reached #13 on my chart, but she really did not see other success here until her 2004 album "Martina." She scored 2 top 10 hits, and of course her most recent track "Anyway" became the biggest hit for her here. Her new single looks promising as well, so we'll see! The current era hasn't been very successful for her with "Ride" just missing the chart.
Ryan Carbera He's made the top 3 3 times including 2 #1s, but since his last single bowed out at #38 he hasn't been heard from since. Ryan needs some new material soon! He hasn't hit high on my chart since Shine On in 2005.
Non-commercial artists who I consider core:
Anggun Of course she's here Although her track record isn't in Celine standards, she had the #1 and a top 10 for the year in 1999 and scored 2 more top 10 hits since. She's one that's hard for me to chart better because oif my limited access to her. Her most recent hit was "My Man" and it peaked at #6
Lara Fabian When she released her debut album, I thought she had one of the best voices of any newcomer in a long time. Her debut single "I Will Love Again" spent 4 weeks at #1 on my chart, but she hasn't done much else chart wise. Her song from Final Fantasy "The Dream Within" is nothing short of amazing, and I wish I had known about it sooner. Lara's among the major voices for me, regardless of what her chart record says.
Rockell She reached #1 in 1998 with her renditon of Can't We Try, and made top 10 with When I'm Gone, but bigness ends there here. She scored a #13 hit with What U Did 2 Me, and I've been waiting for more Rockell since! She went top 5 here in 2008 with her cover of "You Keep Me Hanging On"
Loreena McKennitt Considering it's been 9 years in between her last 2 albums, chart success isn't much of a choice here. She did reach #4 in 1998 with The Mummers' Dance and Caravanserai is currently moving up in that direction as wel lit peaked at #26. I also love her album "The Mask & Mirror" so I currently own 4 of her albums.
Jessica Andrews She's only scored 1 top 10 hit, but she's one artist I've gotten every album by. I'm not sure when we'll hear from her again since Dreamworks shut down their record label and she's currently on her own. Still waiting on more word from her

My core artists:
Carrie Underwood Has been consistent since her debut single, "Inside Your Heaven". Only one of her "singles" didn't hit #1 and that is "Some Hearts".
JoJo Has had 5 #1 hits and one song that is currently on the rise on my chart. Consistent artist also.
Kelly Clarkson / Avril Lavigne / Hilary Duff Has been consistent ever since.
Future core artists:
John Mayer I'm pretty sure he'll be able to join the "core" artists soon. He had some #1's in his old days and is back right now with "Gravity".
Fall Out Boy Has had a #1 song and one song which is currently on the chart that's doing good.
Artists who have been removed:
Mandy Moore The only one I can think of is Mandy Moore. "Extraordinary" and some of her latest stuff isn't really doing good in the chart anymore like before.

My chart is still fairly new ( i think i've done maybe 40 so far), i think there may be 7or 8 bands to have songs charting from one than one album. Most of my core artists are based on at most 4 songs that they i have charted.
Current core artists:
Tool Lacuna Coil Korn Nine Inch Nails Kittie Otep Within Temptation Flyleaf
Future Core Artists:
H.I.M. Marilyn Manson Wicked Wisdom

I honestly don't believe I have any "core" artists on my chart. I guess Britney was considered a core artist back in the day, but I was drunk between December 1998 and whenever the hell "Toxic" peaked, so who knows.
In all honesty, each artist and song is specific, and I won't chart a track just based on name or reputation.

My core artists: Blue October ;D 3 #1 in 3 songs ... Jump Fastly on my chart Éric Lapointe His 6 last songs reach my top 3 and his new song with Dennis DeYoung would be higher too 30 Seconds To Mars The song "From Yesterday" move up the band for core artist. I love "The Kill" and "Attack" but "From Yesteday" is the song who move up the band. "A Beautiful Lie" have a big potential right now. Future core artists: Les Vulgaires Machins After some single don't very interesting. Their new album have 3 excellent song !! "Puits Sans Fond" reach the #1 and "Compter Les Corps" reach #4. But the recent single "Dommage Collatéral" is very excellent for me ... But like their old album is different, it hard to predict that Vulgaires Machins will be attracting in the next album. Muse "Knights Of Cydonia" reach the #1... "Starlight reach the #2 ... But the band have a style that i can dislike on the next album ... Artists who have been removed: The Killers After the first album and the first single of new album, The Killers was in the core artist but for now, i don't have the big interest for like this band. "Read My Mind" don't reach the Top 20...

This thread is 2 Years old. Can you believe it.
I thought I should list my Core Artists for the fun of it.
I have a unique way of defining what a core artist on my List is. For me an act has to have at least 5 Tunes that have performed on my List. It does not matter if they release an Album full of crap, they would still be defined as Core Artists because of their previous success. If you think it that easy to be a Core Act on my List, think again because I only have 4 core acts. Here they are.
Coldplay: 7 of their Tracks have performed on my List. 6 of those going Top 10, 3 of those were Top 5's and one was a #1. The 7TH one Peaked at #12.
Nickelback: All 7 of their performing Tracks have gone Top 10, The 1st 6 of those all went Top 5. One of which was a #1.
Evermore: This Australian/New Zealand band have had all 5 of their performing Tracks reach the Top 5, 3 of which were Top 2's and 2 of them went #1.
Eskimo Joe: Here is another Australian band. Their 2006 Album is my favorite Album ever being the only Album to have every Single released off it make my List. All 5 Singles made my chart, one peaked at #14 but the other 4 made the Top 10 but 2 of those made the Top 3. Although their new Single Foreign Land from their Inshalla Album is disapointing and did not Chart at all. It was because of this one Super Successful Album that they became Core Artists.
However, The 2ND Single after Foreign Land has recently Entered at #5 and Peaked at #2 while the 3RD Single has Debuted at #1 giving them their 1ST Chart Topper on my List, their 4TH Top 3 and their 6TH Top 10.

Interesting topic, though 2 years old. I'll list mine, I've never really thought about it before but I do have some artists whose albums I will buy without hearing them, or having heard only one song, so I might use that definition. The definites are:
The Killers: No song has missed the top ten, and they have scored seven number ones. Considering they're my favourite band, it's to be expected.
Matchbox Twenty/Rob Thomas: My favourites until The Killers. Everything has reached the top ten, with several number ones.
Maroon 5: Again, everything has reached the top ten, barring one single and one remix. They have scored four number ones.
Faker: Not as much single success, because I picked up on them late. They've had one number one and one top ten, but since they don't chart overly well or receive much airplay, I'm never sure on what their single releases are, so I don't know what I'm allowed to chart. Anything I do chart is almost certain to be top ten.
Snow Patrol: Haven't missed the top ten with anything I've charted, and have scored three number ones.
Fall Out Boy: My love for them is starting to wane, they started with three number ones, but three of their last four singles have missed the top ten.
There's only really one artist I'd consider a previous core artist who no longer is. That'd be Delta Goodrem. With her first album release I loved her. Four out of five singles from it hit number one, and the fifth made it to number three. Her second album scored a #2, #3 and number one. Then it went downhill with the next five singles (from that second album, and the first three from the third) all missing the top ten. The last single she released made it to number four, but my level of love is not what it once was.
A potential future core artist for me is Lady GaGa. It will depend on the second album, but I have charted five songs from 'The Fame' with two number ones, two number fives, and a #14.

Current core artists
Akon (2005-present): As of November 8, 2008 (the last time at which I update my complete chart history for each individual artist), Akon ties the record for a total of 55 charted hits. He has also had a total of four #1 singles.
Lil' Wayne (2007-present): Lil' Wayne has become immensely successful on my chart in the past 2 years, and has now tied Akon's record of 55 total appearances, including two consecutive #1 singles in late 2008/early 2009. Like Akon, his constant featured status contributes greatly to his massive recent success, which I don't see tapering off anytime soon.
T-Pain (2005-present): With six #1 singles and 43 total charted hits, I generally seem to like just about everything he's been coming out with.
Kanye West (2005-present): He may only have two #1 singles to his name, but each of his past three albums has produced multiple top ten hits, and his featured appearances often have fared likewise.
Prince (2006-present): Currently holding the #1 spot, his past four singles have gone straight to the top, and he has the sole distinction of being the only artist by whom I have charted every song he has released, including album cuts, since the inception of my chart in February 2005.
Core artists who are currently inactive, but have a good chance of remaining core artists
Justin Timberlake (2006-2008): He doesn't have an album out right now, but every single from "Future Sex/Love Sounds" made my top ten (two of them went to #1). Guest appearances since the album's release have also been quite successful.
50 Cent (2005-2008): He currently holds the record for most chart appearances (36) without a #1 single. However, with eight top ten hits, his last two albums have performed rather well. While the last few tracks I've heard from him have been rather weak, I certainly see a large-scale comeback as a future possibility.
Chris Brown (2005-2008): Every single he has released has reached my top ten, without fail; he and Sean Kingston are the only artists to achieve this distinction (Justin Timberlake would be a third, but for the fact that his very first chart appearance, "Signs", peaked at #16). He's still a favorite of mine; he just doesn't have an album out currently.
Jay-Z (2006-2008): He hasn't had anything in a while, but with two #1 hits to his name, I could see him making a big comeback when his upcoming album, due out later this year, is released.
Diddy (2006-2008): With three consecutive top five hits, including a #1, off his last album, Diddy was a continual chart success around 2-3 years ago. He's been quiet lately, but unless I'm severely disappointed, any upcoming material from him should perform similarly.
Former core artists without much chance of regaining their title
Daddy Yankee (2005-2007): He had my #1 song of the year in 2006 with "Tu Principe", and has had a total of 19 chart appearances. However, everything he's had lately has been mediocre, and he has failed to even have a single top forty hit in more than 2 years.
Bow Wow (2005-2007): Although he is the only artist to have had four consecutive #1 singles, a feat he accomplished in mid-2007, he has had but one top forty hit since.
Former core artists that could regain their title
Fergie (2006-2008): She's currently recording with the Black Eyed Peas, but were she to release another solo album in the future, I could see it performing well.
Eminem (2005-2008): While his current album hasn't lived up to my expectations, I wouldn't be surprised if he released something in the future that I enjoyed more.
Possible future core artists
Plies (2007-present): I've really liked the last few songs he's put out; six of his last eight singles have reached my top ten.
Flo-Rida (2008-present): He's just had two #1 singles in the second quarter of 2009, but I'll just have to wait and see what I think of his upcoming songs.
Keri Hilson (2008-present): Nothing's definite yet, but if there's one artist I could see becoming really big on my chart in the upcoming months, it's her.
