So, I finally was able to update my complete list of CDs and such that I own so I now have an official number as to how many I own.
As I was doing this, I also recorded some stats along the way, including how many I bought each year and such. I did this basically out of curiosity and whatnot.
Here are some stats:
# of CDs each year (doesn't include singles but includes soundtracks and compilations. Double CD sets, albums with DVDs and box sets are counted as one)
1994: 3
1995: 14
1996: 13
1997: 25
1998: 34
1999: 17
2000: 23
2001: 18
2002: 30
2003: 50
2004: 68
2005: 47
2006: 38+
2003 was the year the number went to a record high and that was probably due to me buying CDs in used stores and pawn shops for a bit cheaper and buying some older albums that otherwise I wouldn't buy at full price new.
2004 was even higher but I also included a group of maybe 20 or so CDs that were given to me by someone who was going to throw them out. They didn't come with the liner notes or cases or anything.
The peak for CD singles was in 2003 and 2004 when I got 13 in each year.
I was curious as to how often I got CDs on the day of release. I tried to remember which ones I did get. In 1998, it happened only once and that was because I lived an hour from the nearest CD store so it was just a coincidence that I went in on a Tuesday.
It didn't happen again until 2002.
2002: 4
2003: 2
2004: 8
2005: 12
2006: 12+
And my total CD collection number now officially 380 (+48 singles).
2006 is looking to probably almost equal 2005 as it stands right now. The overall total of 2005 was 57 while 2006 so far is 38 but that's because I didn't get a single CD-single this year compared to 10 last year so comparing 38 to 47, I probably will end up getting some more CDs.
This probably isn't of interest to anyone but I thought I'd post it just to kind of organize the info in word form for myself.
And to see if anyone else wanted to post their info on CD stats if they knew it.
