I swear........I get this damn message everytime I try to open a DOS program

16-bit DOS programs generally aren't compatible with Windows XP. You may want to try setting the shortcut’s compatibility mode to Windows 95 and see if that helps. You could also try making a Boot CD that has an older version of DOS on it...

Shortcut compatibility mode doesn't do a damn thing for my DOS programs .........how do I go forth in creating a Boot CD?

Copy out the "autoexec.nt" file from the C:\WINDOWS\repair\ directory. Paste the file into the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ directory.
This should fix your problem.
