Yesterday, I visited one of those horrible song lyrics sites with lots of pop-ups, and afterwards, every time I opened Firefox, I got a warning from McAfee about a JS/NEZEW virus on the computer. The warning only pops up when I open Firefox, not Internet Explorer or any other program.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of JS/NEZEW and stop it from triggering the antivirus software every time I open Firefox?
I've tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling, and it didn't work. Is JS/NEZEW something that affects Firefox only, or is it having an effect on other applications on my computer?
If anyone could help, that would be great. I'm really bugged out by this. I'm never going to visit those stupid song lyric sites again!

You need to clear your cache. In FireFox... "Tools / Options / Privacy / Cache / Clear ". Clearing your cookies may also help.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried clearing the cache, but it didn't work. I deleted my profile, and now the warning from McAfee has stopped appearing. Does this mean the virus has been deleted from the computer?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried clearing the cache, but it didn't work. McAfee scans new files in your browser's cache, not your profile settings... so the virus had to be in your cache. Most likely the virus has been removed. I guess if you really wanted to, you could do a complete system scan using McAfee and have it check all the files on your harddrive. It's not really necessary, though. When did you last update your virus definitions?

I bought McAfee more than a year ago and it has expired, so I can't get any more new updates unless I pay a fee.
I didn't know McAfee scans new files in the cache. That's good to know. When the McAfee warning came up, the file location was in a folder called "Profiles", but I couldn't find the folder in My Computer. I found out there was such a thing as a Profiles folder from the Firefox site, but I had to "Run" the profile manager to access and delete it.
