Someone told me that a possible reason why my computer freezes with MP3s is that my DirectX version isn't up to date. Anyone know anything about that?
And another reason could be also my BIOS needs updating as well.

Someone told me that a possible reason why my computer freezes with MP3s is that my DirectX version isn't up to date. Anyone know anything about that? Direct X is a video development library used by various programs (mostly games) to easily produce visual effects. I would rule this one out, since your computer freezes at any time and not while you're playing games that use Direct X. You can still update your version of Direct X, if you like... but, it won't improve anything... so I really don't see the point in doing that. ...It's a possibilty. Unlikely... but it's possible that one of your BIOS settings are not set properly or that your BIOS is not properly interacting with the rest of your system thus needing a upgrade. Just remember to write down or print out all your BIOS settings before you flash update because sometimes you will lose your settings when you flash update... and then you're screwed trying to figure out what everything is supposed to be set to.

K, I'm gonna prolly go soon enough and maybe get a power supply for my computer.
My Motherboard manual suggests I get a 350W - 400W ATX12V power supply for it. I think the one I have now is 450W. I just wanted to make sure that that is the probable cause of computer's freezing constantly or not. If so, I'm definately getting a more suitable power supply. And is a power supply hard to install because I plan on doing it myself.

The book says that I should have a 350watt power supply for minimal loading -or- 400 for a fully loaded system. What does that mean? I checked a few websites of computer stores around here and all they seem to have are 350 watt supplies. Would that work for me?

K, I phoned a place that said the power supply shouldn't be the problem and he listed a couple options that could be the source
-RAM isn't in the lefter-most place on the motherboard (it is so that's fine) -CD and HD bus things aren't in their suggested places (they are so that's fine) -He also suggested something about the amount of RAM given to the video memory and the BIOS. How do I check/change that?
And while looking around, I discovered in the System that there's a problem with my Video Controller under Display Adaptors. Is that my monitor? Could that be a problem? I tried to reinstall the driver but couldn't get it to work right. When I try to install it, it says:
"There was a problem installing this hardware: Video Controller [VGA Compatible]
An error occurred during the installation of the device
Access is denied"
Assuming this is the monitor, my monitor works fine so I can't imagine this being the reason why my computer locks up the way it does.

No, your video controller is not your monitor. ...and yes, video cards and/or controllers do cause those kinds of problems if they're not set up properly.

I'm not sure what you should do...
I would probably delete the video controller's properties from the system (remove device or whatever it's called) and then, restart and see if Windows finds any new hardware. If everything still wasn't working, I would go to Add New Hardware and see if it could find the controller. I would also try to search on the internet for driver updates for that particular video controller.
