So do you listen to music just for the current, cutting edge tunes and albums, or are you such a rabid music buff you'll seek out older songs or albums, and listen to them objectively?

Mostly the earlier stuff (anything before the mid-90's) I'd listen to through individual songs, or from greatest hits compilations.

New stuff, but I like some classics like Nirvana! (hmmm, does it enter in the rock section?)

I admit that now I tend to listen mostly to newer releases. I'll listen to older stuff from newer artists that I'm just discovering if they have old stuff or the old stuff I already love. If for some reason I hear something old often or hear something that really catches my ear that happens to be an old song, I'll be interested. I don't have many pre-1990 CDs in my collection but there are a few that I wouldn't mind getting.

Working for an Oldies radio station, it's only natural for me to hear older music and to go back and listen to other tracks by artists I like.
I mean, just look at my "Greatest Songs Of All Time" chart... you'll be lucky to find 10 songs from 2000 or newer.

IMO, 90's rock music was definetly the best! Though rock music from today is pretty good too.
