There is something about Rob Thomas's voice that I have never liked. While I greatly dislike Michael Bolton's attempts to be soulful, Rob Thomas is about as soulful as a kleenex under water. If this were Sam Moore, Solomon Burke or Al Green behind the vocals, I might accept the overall smoothness of the arrangement, as it lacks any rawness, emotion or deep feeling to be soulful and becomes a perdictable production. Even the 'jam' part of the bridge ends with perfect balance & tone. So much for free form. Pop Mush. Of course, all that said, it will be a hit. Radio doesnt have time to look for good records, so celebrity makes it automaticaly to the top of the charts. wm.allaccess.com/allaccess/robtstre.wma

Why do you have to be so negative???
Anyway, this will be a hit. I don't think its amazing, but its not that bad.

Why do you have to be so negative??? Anyway, this will be a hit. I don't think its amazing, but its not that bad. Rather then just say I like or don't like somthing, i will try to give some reason. there are so many fanboys (& fangirls) around to take any of the comments as a acurate recomodation, i.e. "Love It" "this is a mess", "Hot" doesnt tell me a thing . If it's a great dance song, say that its a great song for dancing. I dont dance. I want music for the ears. I want to see images in the lyrics (not one's from the video). When i hear a great song I want to sit down and play it. Is it a great song? Will it stand up over time. Can it be done in a different style (country/jazz/etc). I just dont want to hear the same song (and beats) over and over. This is a little off subject for a comment on my review but.........thats my 2cents. note: i did say it would be a hit - it has all the elements that go into getting on today's radio.

Tell it like it is Phannine! Kudos to you for actually making a topic and adding some discussion to it!
No kudos to the replies that will inevitibly come that require less than half a brain to post.
To the song: This is my least favourite of the four singles released from the album. There's something about the song that I don't much like. I like the intro but I guess it's probably the chorus and the attempted "soul"ness of it. However, I am surprised it's taking off like it is, considering it's a fourth single and it's been about 9 months since 'Ever The Same' was released.

I really like this song, but I would've preferred the title track off his album as the last single.

It's not bad... I preferred the other singles from his album. Surprised he waited this long to release another single, but figured it might've ended up being this one if there would be one.

His songs are not that bad, there is just not much there. It's music as wallpaper. It might be good for making todays hits, Bad for music overall. note: i retain the right to disagree with myself.
