Launched as an Urban in 2002, Calgary's Vibe 98.5 continues to fine tune its sound. The move from CHR/Rhythmic to CHR/Pop has become official, a source close to me has confirmed.
Recent adds include: EVANESCENCE -- My Immortal MAROON5 -- This Love HILARY DUFF -- Come Clean AVRIL LAVIGNE -- Don't Tell Me
Just like HOT 89.9 Ottawa, Vibe will continue to lean Rhythmic.

Good move, they needed a pop station badly, and now they got it!

;D Good move, they needed a pop station badly, and now they got it! too many Canadian Cities are in a serious lack of a CHR/Pop station... too many cities are deprived of good currents they can listen too

Agreed about having nowhere to hear currents. If not for the internet, I would be totally out of the loop on new hits.
I can see the logic of leaning rhythmic, since they want to keep their core audience. CHR/Pop seems to be headed back towards rock, though.

I've listened to them a bit lately and they still lean heavily towards urban (understandable). Actually "My Immortal" was one of the first non-urban songs played awhile back (month ago or longer) along with Jessica Simpson's "With You" and No Doubt's "It's My Life". They seem to be adding the big pop hits to their playlist. Who knows, maybe I'll actually listen to them more now.
