From henceforth, all my correspondences about the 8 (soon to be 10) station radio énergie chain in Quebec will note that their format is no longer CHR/Pop. I will instead refer to them as HotAC. According to an updated website from paren't company Astral Media, the radio énergie stations target demo is now focussed on adults 18-49. "Énergie targets an audience of bold young adults and older listeners who are young at heart." By catering to an older "hipper" audience, the radio énergie station in Montreal (CKMF 94.3) recently beat longtime CHR/Pop rival CKOI 96,9 for the first time in over 10 years according to ratings from BBM. CKMF also stunned many last month by placing 1st in the Montreal market, edging out the consistently #1 placing of AC 107.3 CITÉ. The énergie stations in Montreal, Gatineau/Ottawa and Quebec City are monitored by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems and report to their CHR chart.

i was actually listening to their live web feed earlier today, great to hear some of the french songs i would otherwise not hear... in any case, it's the best station they have in La Sarre/Val D'or/Rouyn-Noranda

I may reconsider calling the network HotAC. Has any other HotAC jumped on the Christina Millian/Fabolous Dip It Low track yet?
Overall, the stations sound more ModernAC than anything.

I've changed my mind. I'll let BDS figure out the format of this one. Since they fall under CHR, I'll go back to calling them an adult leaning CHR/Pop. I listened to their Saturday countdown show and it was pretty much CHR. It's the recurrents and golds that are primarily HotAC, although they add a lot of current HotAC as well.
