Hello everyone! Can I mail or email some snow to any of you in warmer climates? We got about 20-25 cm yesterday, and I still have shovelling to do.....
Anyway, it looks like Darren Hayes' reign at #1 will come to an end on the next chart as "How To Build A Time Machine" logs a 5th chart at the top. For it is that stunning record by Adele, "Chasing Pavements", that is the fastest riser on the chart, rocketing 11-2, almost a no-brainer for #1 in two weeks. Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" holds steady at #3. Besides Adele's song, the only other newcomer to the Top 10 is illScarlett's "Life Of A Soldier" (13-10).
Despite radio's unwillingness to play Janet's "Feedback" single, it moves 17-12 and should be in the Top 10 in two weeks. Also keep your eye on songs by the two "Say" songs by both Low Level Flight and John Mayer, Miley Cyrus, and Elisa Estrada.
Is it just me or are the really good songs hard to come by right now? And they certainly don't appear to be on the radio...
Anyway, here are the newcomers to the chart, and you can view the entire list using the link in my signature. Enjoy!
NEW TO THE CHART:
BEST DAYS - Graham Colton
It's a pretty sharp debut to bow at #15, and Colton has the vocal chops and this great song to be Top 5 calibre in short order! I'm looking forward to hearing more from him. It's also the second song title to be duplicated on the current chart, with Matt White's "Best Days" currently at #5.
NOW YOU'RE GONE - Basshunter
The UK has been getting it right on their singles chart lately as this relentlessly infectious Europop tune from Sweden has been on top for three weeks. This song should easily crossover to pop in Canada, not so sure about the U.S., but it should be a club hit at very least.
THE QUEEN AND I - Gym Class Heroes
Apparently this was the initial single release from the band's As Cruel As School Children CD, which spawned "Cupid's Chokehold" and "Clothes Off", neither of which I enjoyed much. So it was a surprise to me when I had been hearing this song on a recent commercial for iTunes/iPod, and got it mixed up with that other song "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex" by CSS, that I realized that it must appear on this chart once I found out which one was which. So better late than never, right? If you haven't heard this anthemic crowd-pleaser, do yourself a favour and check it out!
