Happy Labour Day weekend everyone! For most of us in North America, this is the second last long weekend before the end of the year...
And with edition #256 of my chart, we see many shake-ups, most notably that Darren Hayes has given up #1 after 6 appearances (12 weeks) - the last song to do that was in 2002 when my #1 song of that year, "Take A Message" by Remy Shand, held the fort.
There's just too much movement to reveal to you in a commentary so be sure to look at the full chart using the link under my signature to see what's on top and what's hot!
I will tell you that there are four debuts that replace some of my favourite songs of the year which exit after 10 or 9 chart appearances. One artist even manages to replace itself with another song.
Enjoy, and please post your comments!
NEW TO THE CHART:
BREAKAWAY (Chris Fraser main mix) - Inaya Day
I was referred by a former member of this board to this cover of a huge hit in Australia in 1987 by a group called Big Pig - I have the original version, and the band had three drummers! This is a straight out dance rendition that scores gold, by veteran dance music belter Day, and has in turn scored in Australia.
DON'T WANNA - dbClifford
Adam would say I'm a little behind in charting this one, but it really hasn't grown on me till now. Better late than never!
LE DISKO - Shiny Toy Guns
Their first semi-hit becomes their second on this chart!
YOU CAN'T STOP THE BEAT - "Hairspray" movie soundtrack
A triumph of joyful musical spirit that will undoubtedly set the tone for other similar musical events.
