f*ck waiting until 10/13, I'm doing this now! 100. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (2013)The fourth and final single from the album of the same name was actually a huge flop on my chart! It only got to #37. In retrospect I do wish it did better of course, but it’s still not one of my favorites from them. The second single will also be making an appearance in this set, but the first and third will be much higher. 99. 31/32 (2002)A country-influenced ballad from Degradation Trip Parts 1 & 2, this was one of the many great Jerry solo songs that I spotlighted on his episode of The Book Club back in March. Really like this one, although the other songs from that episode have aged better for me. 98. Stone (2013)This one I had a hard time getting into when it was out, it only reached #15 for me which was pretty underwhelming given the previous single “Hollow” went top 5. I like the song more now but it’s still not a fave. 97. A Looking In View (2009)Their first single from the William Duvall era! I liked this a lot at the time but I’m glad this was just a promo single and “Check My Brain” was the official lead as that one is gonna be MUCH higher. This peaked at #10 on my chart. 96. Last Of My Kind (2009)This is such a heavy banger! One of my favorites on Black Gives Way To Blue. 95. Nothin’ Song (1995)There’s many other songs from self-titled still to come but I still really like this one. It has a bit of a country sound to it which Jerry probably had a lot to do with, as his parents were huge country fans and he grew up on that stuff. Even though country is generally not my cup of tea, I don’t mind when Jerry incorporates his country influences on songs like this and “31/32” because they’re subtle and not too over the top, and at the end of the day they’re still rock songs. That’s also why “Atone” works so well but that won’t be on this list for quite awhile. 94. Rainier Fog (2018)The third of four top 10 hits they had for me from this album! I really liked it a lot at the time, and I still like it a lot now, but I prefer the other three singles that went top 10. This one peaked at #8 for me. 93. So Close (1995)Another solid album track from the self-titled album! 92. Take Her Out (2009)Love this! Another fave from Black Gives Way To Blue. Very underrated AIC album in my opinion. 91. Satisfy (1998)When I played this on Jerry’s episode of The Book Club back in March, I said that the intro to this reminded me a lot of the intro to “Black Hole Sun”. I still stand by that. I also said in that same episode that his vocals were really sexy on this one. I still stand by that too. COMING UP: 81. A ballad from the 1995 self-titled album 82. A Degradation Trip album track 83. One of two instrumentals on this list 84. One of the many songs on Degradation Trip that have been speculated to be about Layne Staley 85. Hey look! It’s the other instrumental! 86. AND another Degradation Trip album track! 87. The closing track on one of the more recent AIC albums 88. Jerry wrote most of AIC’s songs, but Layne Staley actually wrote this Dirt album track 89. Another song written by Layne, except this one is from Facelift 90. “Sexual chocolate, baby!”

Great list ice cream sandwich I don't remember a lot of these off the top of my head but I like Stone and I agree it's one of their weaker ones and I like A Looking In View too great list Jesser

90. Real Thing (1990)The closing track from Facelift isn’t one of my absolute favorites on the album, but it’s still a good one. 89. I Can’t Remember (1990)Another great Facelift tune! 88. Hate To Feel (1992)The first appearance for a Dirt track! This is a great song, but also the only one on the album that I don’t absolutely LOVE. The rest of the album is a 10 and this is more like an 8 to me. 87. All I Am (2018)The closing track from AIC’S most recent album, Rainier Fog, and one of my favorites on the album. An epic ballad that reminds me a little of two of my favorite AIC ballads – “Over Now” from the band’s self-titled album, and the title track from “Black Gives Way To Blue”. 86. Chemical Tribe (2002)This wasn’t a huge favorite of mine when I first listened to Degradation Trip. But the more I’ve listened to the album the more I’ve really grown to appreciate this one. Love the heaviness on this! 85. Hurts Don’t It? (2002)This instrumental was one of the less popular songs with the audience when I Book Clubbed Jerry’s solo career back in March, but I don’t care, I really like this one. I’m not a big instrumental person but I think this one is really beautiful and well done. There is another instrumental in this set, however, that I love even more than this! 84. Psychotic Break (2002)In 2018, Jerry said in an interview that he had a hard time revisiting the Degradation Trip album because he was “really f*cked up” back then – he was grieving over Layne Staley’s death, he was dropped from Columbia Records, and his issues with drugs and alcohol were at it’s worst. This is one of the songs on the album where I can really hear what he’s talking about, especially near the end when he sings, “THINKIN’ ‘BOUT MY DEAAAAAADDDD FRIEEEEENNNDSSSSS!” Yeah he may have been f*cked up, but to me the album and this song especially were still great, although I’m glad he’s in a much better, healthier place now. 83. Whale & Wasp (1994)Another great Jerry instrumental, this time from the Jar Of Flies EP. Love this one! 82. Castaway (2002)Like “Chemical Tribe”, this one didn’t click with me right away but I’ve since grown to really love it and now I think it’s a highlight on Degradation Trip. 81. Shame In You (1995)This is one of my favorites on the self-titled album! I really liked this one a lot from the moment I first heard it, and I think it would’ve made a great single (although the four singles from this album are all much, MUCH higher on this list!). COMING UP: 71. A song intended for Dirt that wasn’t released until seven years later in 1999. 72. Another Degradation Trip album track that I Book Clubbed. 73. This is actually a more recent discovery from The Book Club, I played it about a month ago on an “Anything goes” episode. Jerry is a featured artist on this one. 74. According to William Duvall’s character in AIC23, this song should be called “How Low” because it’s “very negative.” 75. A Boggy Depot album track that Jerry wrote about his cousin’s suicide. 76. This was also a Book Club discovery, although I think you guys probably remember the episode this song was on more for a hot mess Barenaked Ladies song. 77. Damn, was The Book Club in Jerry mode this year or what?! This is an album track from one of the two AIC albums I spotlighted on the show this year. 78. A William Duvall-era single that went top 10 on my chart. 79. Another Boggy Depot album track as heard on The Book Club. 80. A studio version of this song was never released – AIC only performed this once, but if I recall Jerry performed this during his Pico Union solo shows in 2019.

80. The Killer Is Me (1996)I thought this was a very good closing song to their MTV Unplugged concert. It’s too bad a studio version was never released, but this is still great. 79. Jesus Hands (1998)One of my favorites on Boggy Depot! 78. Lesson Learned (2009)Always really liked this one! It peaked at #7 on my chart. 77. Maybe (2018)One of my favorites on Rainier Fog, has a 70’s sound to it. 76. Killing Yourself (1990)This was on the We Die Young EP that came out before Facelift. Listeners of M4B Radio may remember this song from the 20Hitz/The Book Club crossover that Unkie and I did back in April. Unlike “Be My Yoko Ono” by the Barenaked Ladies and that geezerly spoken word song that FreakyFlyBry voted for, this was a banger. I just wish a better quality version of it existed. 75. Hurt A Long Time (1998)This is such a sad song but also a really beautiful one. One of the best songs on Boggy Depot. 74. Hollow (2013)This was a big hit on my chart in early 2013, peaking at #4. Still love this one! 73. Ashes To Ashes (Damageplan feat. Jerry Cantrell) (2004)This was from the same soundtrack that gave us “Broken” by Seether featuring Amy Lee. I played this on The Book Club about two months ago and I loved it! Jerry sounds so good here. I wasn’t super crazy about Damageplan but this one is excellent. 72. Bargain Basement Howard Hughes (2002)This one is very dark and heavy, I love it. A lot of people think this is about Layne. 71. Fear The Voices (1999)Wasn’t sure if I should classify this as ’99 or ’92. It was released in 1999 on their box set, but it was recorded for their Dirt album. I loved this when I discovered it on The Book Club last year, but the other previously released Dirt song from this box set – which I discovered earlier this year off the air – will be much higher. COMING UP: 61. This Rainier Fog single was a huge top five hit on my chart. 62. Album track from Black Gives Way To Blue. 63. This 1999 single was one of Layne Staley’s last recordings. 64. Another Rainier Fog single! This one went top 10 but was not as big on my chart as #61. 65. This Degradation Trip album track is in my opinion one of the heaviest songs Jerry has ever done. 66. Layne Staley got a phone call from Columbia Records telling them that the band had nine days left to finish recording their album. The result? This song, which was their “f*ck you” to them. 67. Another Degradation Trip album track, although this one is much slower than #65. 68. My second favorite song from “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here”. How this wasn’t released as a single is beyond me. 69. A Degradation Trip album track that was played on The Book Club. 70. Probably the oldest song on this list, it was an early AIC song from when they were still considered a hair band (yes, you read that correctly – look it up ).

70. Social Parasite (1988)Fetus Alice In Chains! I am generally not crazy about their pre-“Facelift” stuff, “Queen Of The Rodeo” is okay and I’m not crazy about “If I Can’t Have You Blues”, but I do really like this one. “You don’t like the way I look, SO f*ck OFF!” remains an iconic line. 69. Hellbound (2002)This was instantly a highlight on “Degradation Trip” for me, excellent song. 68. Pretty Done (2013)This album track is honestly my second favorite song on "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here". I am completely dumbfounded this wasn’t released as a single. It’s such a banger! 67. Solitude (2002)I always liked this track but I have really grown to love this one even more over the last few months, especially after coming across this performance of it from just weeks after Layne Staley died: 66. Sludge Factory (1995)When I Book Clubbed this AIC album earlier this year I originally wasn't a huge fan of this but I love it now. Layne screwing this song up on MTV Unplugged and Jerry saying, "You guys just get to hear more, that's all!" before they redid it was pretty funny too. #WhatsMyMotivationHere 65. Spiderbite (2002)Just like "Solitude", I didn't really think that much of this one at first but now I think it's one of the best songs on "Degradation Trip". SUPER heavy!! 64. The One You Know (2018)The fact that this came out the same week as Guns N' Roses' "Shadow Of Your Love" and Celine Dion's "Ashes" was pretty awesome. It also came out the same week as Christina Aguilera's "Accelerate", however, I try to forget that exists. I did like this one a lot at the time but obviously I've grown to love it even more since. Peaked at #9 on my chart. 63. Get Born Again (1999)This and the other 1999 Alice In Chains song, "Died" (which is still to come), were both originally written by Jerry for "Degradation Trip". However, he showed both songs to Layne and he loved them, and they agreed to try to bring back Alice In Chains to record those songs. Sadly, the reunion didn't last as Layne was really in deep with his drug habit that he eventually died of in 2002. The video for this makes me a little sad too because they couldn't even get the band together for a proper video. The clips of Layne, Jerry, and Sean are from "Sea Of Sorrow" and the clips of Mike are from "What The Hell Have I". Still a great song regardless. 62. Private Hell (2009)Another one that I can't believe was never a single! One of the best songs on "Black Gives Way To Blue". 61. Fly (2018)The final single from "Rainier Fog" was a huge hit on my chart in fall 2019, peaking at #5. Still love this one! COMING UP: 51. The title track from my favorite Alice In Chains album 52. Time to eat some flowers! 53. As heard on the episode of The Book Club where I spotlighted my crushes. 54. If you saw the AIC MoPop special from last December, you would have heard Liv Warfield from Roadcase Royale do an AMAZING cover of this song. 55. One of my favorite post-Layne AIC singles, there’s a sign outside The Central in Seattle that has this song’s opening line on it. 56. This "Boggy Depot" album track is one of the many, many songs Jerry has written about his ex-girlfriend Courtney Clarke. 57. A Jerry song with... saxophone?! 58. The song that plays at the very beginning of “The Nona Tapes”. 59. The theme song to Lily Cornell Silver’s “Mind Wide Open” podcast. 60. An album track from "Facelift".

60. Confusion (1990)Another great song from Facelift! 59. Don’t Follow (1994)I always really liked this one, but I like it even more now because it reminds me of (Chris’ daughter) Lily Cornell Silver’s “Mind Wide Open” podcast as this song is the opening music. ❤️ Highly recommend that podcast to anyone struggling with mental illness. 58. Brush Away (1995)And this one reminds me of the very beginning of The Nona Tapes where Jerry is on the farm! One of my favorites on the self-titled. 57. Cold Piece (1998)What an epic closing song, yeah it’s 8 minutes but he keeps it interesting and the saxophone at the end is a really nice touch. 56. Settling Down (1998)As I said on The Book Club, “This song is beautiful… just like him.” I love the music and his voice sounds soooo good but it’s also sad because it’s basically about him choosing what he loves to do for a living (music) over the love of his life. 55. Voices (2013)My favorite song on The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. Loved this one the moment I first heard it. Peaked at #4 on my chart although it should’ve been a #1. 54. Put You Down (1990)This is such a banger! And have you heard Liv Warfield sing this? Girl can SING. 53. Dickeye (1998)I played this on the music crushes episode of The Book Club that aired in September 2019. Although I prefer the other 2 Boggy Depot singles, I do love this one and think it’s a great opening track. 52. Brighten (2021)My chart’s current #1! Absolutely love this song and definitely one of my favorites this year. Love the video too. MAGNIFIERS TURN YOUR SUNSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE TO HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 51. Dirt (1992)Great song. I think this is only the second appearance for a song from “Dirt”, which means the rest of the album is in my top 50! COMING UP: 41. Another deep cut from the AIC self-titled album. 42. As heard on the “Core JessieLou Artists” episode of The Book Club. 43. “It’s two colors!” 44. My favorite song from Rainier Fog, which was written about Chris Cornell and Layne Staley. 45. Alice In Chains’ first and to date only #1 on my chart. This won’t last long of course. 46. The single that came before #45! 47. A deep cut from Boggy Depot. 48. As heard on the grunge episode of The Book Club. 49. Although this Jar Of Flies album track was never released as a single, it is one of AIC’s most well-known deep cuts. 50. The last song ever recorded by Layne Staley.

50. Died (1999)The last song Layne ever recorded, which is a little eerie given the title. I first heard this one back in 2010 when I was friends with someone who told me this was one of her all-time favorite songs. I will be honest and say I actually deleted it from my library and didn't listen to it for a few years after our friendship breakup, but I added it back into my library maybe about 2-3 years ago and it sounds just as great if not better to me than it did in 2010. Great song. 49. Rotten Apple (1994)What a great opening track to the most legendary and iconic EP ever made. Pipa Cody 48. I Know Somethin' ('Bout You) (1990)The song that opened the grunge episode of the Book Club back in 2018. Always loved this song, it reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. 47. Devil By His Side (1998)Another fave from Boggy Depot! 46. Check My Brain (2009)Their comeback smash! Loved this one back then and still love it now. Peaked at #2 on my chart (although - once again - it should've been a #1, especially considering what blocked it). 45. Your Decision (2009)Great classic AIC ballad. This was not only a huge #1 hit on my chart, but also the first #1 of the 2010's, as it reached #1 the first week of January 2010. Still a great song and damn does Jerry look hot in the video or what 44. Never Fade (2018)My favorite post-Layne single. Love this one and I love it even more now after I recently found out that this was about Chris Cornell (it was also about Layne too and I think Chester Bennington). Peaked at #3 on my chart. 43. Black Gives Way To Blue (2009)Speaking of songs about Layne... "Never Fade" may be my favorite post-Layne single, but this is my favorite post-Layne AIC song period (which also means the top 42 are all Jerry solo songs and Layne-era AIC songs). This stunning ballad sung by Jerry (and also features piano from Elton John!) was the band's tribute to Layne. Such an incredible song. During AIC's MoPop special last year, Lily Cornell Silver performed this song with Chris DeGarmo from Queensryche as a tribute to Chris Cornell. Her version peaked at #2 on my chart earlier this year. 42. God Am (1995)I played this on the core JessieLou artists episode of The Book Club in September 2018, two and a half years before I went in Jerry mode. This is still a highlight for me on the self-titled, love it. 41. Frogs (1995)Another song from the self-titled that I love, but while "God Am" was instant for me, this one took a little longer. At first I thought this song didn't really go anywhere and I called it "unmemorable" when I spotlighted this album on The Book Club back in February, but I have since grown to really love it and I especially like Layne's vocals on this one a lot. COMING UP: 31. Although this is one of my favorite AIC singles, it’s one of my least favorite AIC videos… because Jerry isn’t in it. 32. This song was on the soundtrack to the Deadpool Spider-Man soundtrack. 33. Another soundtrack song! This was from John Wick: Chapter 2. 34. Like “Fear The Voices”, this was a previously unreleased song recorded for Dirt that didn’t come out until 1999. 35. Kim Thayil from Soundgarden has said this is one of his favorite AIC songs and that he wished he came up with the opening riff. 36. Julian’s first AIC song! 37. This Dirt album track is a major fan favorite. 38. “This was a nightmare to make, so please like it.” – Layne Staley talking about the music video for this song. 39. One of the two songs on AIC’s Sap EP to feature Ann Wilson. 40. According to Jerry Cantrell, this song is the “masterpiece” on Facelift.

40. Love Hate Love (1990)Such an epic song, this has some of Jerry’s best guitar playing and Layne’s best vocals. I can see why this was a popular one at their concerts. 39. Am I Inside (1992)Alice In Chains with ANN WILSON??? Sign me the f*ck up dude! Love this one. 38. Sea Of Sorrow (1990)You know Facelift had a strong streak of singles when all four of them are in the top 40 (the other three are still to come). Great song, even if Layne didn’t like filming the video. 37. Rain When I Die (1992)This was always a highlight on Dirt for me, excellent song. 36. A Little Bitter (1993)I know this is such a random choice as it’s a deep cut from the 1993 movie “The Last Action Hero”, but this was Julian’s first Alice In Chains song back in February when we did an “Anything goes” episode of The Book Club together. What’s even funnier is on that episode he was more into this than I was! But this has grown on me immensely since I first discovered it back in February. I absolutely love this now… although the other song from this soundtrack is MUCH higher on this list. 35. It Ain’t Like That (1990)Love this one and totally understand why Kim Thayil wished he thought of it. Could you imagine this as a Soundgarden song and Chris singing it?!?! 34. Lying Season (1999)This, like “Fear The Voices”, was recorded for Dirt but was not released until 1999. I first heard this back in April and I think it’s a total banger. I think this should’ve made Dirt. 33. A Job To Do (2017)This 2017 soundtrack single was his first solo release since the Degradation Trip era. I first heard this back in March when I spotlighted Jerry’s solo career on The Book Club, and it has since become a huge favorite of mine. I’m hoping there is a song or to in this vein on Brighten! 32. She Was My Girl (2002)IS. THIS. A. f*ckING. BANGER. OR. WHAT?!?! SHE WAS MY GGGGIIIIRLLLLLL USED TO BE MY WOOOORRRRRLLLLLDDDDDDD. 31. I Stay Away (1994)Always loved this one, one of their best singles. COMING UP: 21. The other song on Sap to feature Ann Wilson! 22. But Ann wasn’t my only core artist to be featured on the EP, as this one features Chris Cornell. 23. Although this was also on the 1992 Sap EP, this was not released as a single until 1994. 24. This single had a music video with a very cinematic feel to it, featuring car chases and explosions. 25. The follow-up to #34, this one had a very sexy video. So sexy that there’s two versions of it – a tame version easily available on YouTube, and a more explicit one that TV and YouTube won’t allow. Guess which one I like more. 26. The lead single from Degradation Trip. 27. ...And the second single! 28. This Jar Of Flies album track is a fan favorite and the song that opened their MTV Unplugged special. 29. Album track from Dirt; I recently came across a Reddit page where people were saying this was one of the weakest songs on the album. This completely dumbfounds me. 30. Another Dirt album track, this one sadly is responsible for the name of a very shitty band from the late 90’s.

30. God Smack (1992)WHAT IN GOD’S NAME HAVE YOU DOOOONNNNEEEEEEE - such a BANGER!!! Godsmack WISHES they did something half as good as this lmao 29. Sickman (1992)This was always a highlight for me on Dirt, so I was completely dumbfounded when Pipa sent me a Reddit page where people were talking about their least favorite songs on the album and this song frequently came up. What DUMMY MUMMIES! 28. Nutshell (1994)I don’t know if I prefer the original or the equally popular MTV Unplugged version. Both are incredible. They did ballads just as good as heavy songs! 27. Angel Eyes (2002)The moment I heard this for Jerry’s Book Club episode back in March, I knew this was something special. Definitely one of his most underrated singles. 26. Anger Rising (2002)Pipa randomly sent this song to me back in 2019 when we were having a conversation where Jerry got brought up. Loved it ever since! Such a bad ass heavy song. And he is sooooo sexy in the video 😍😍😍😍😍😍 25. My Song (1998)The second single from Boggy Depot, I discovered this one in 2018 on the grunge episode of the Book Club that aired a week before I visited Seattle. I love the dark, haunting sound to this one and his vocals are just… ughhhhh 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 And the VIDEO. The version on YouTube is pretty hot, but the uncensored version… Christ almighty. He’s so insanely sexy it’s not even funny 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 24. Cut You In (1998)The lead single from Boggy Depot! Another kick ass song from him with a super cool video. 23. Got Me Wrong (1992)This wasn’t a huge favorite of mine when I first discovered it on the 1994 Yearbook episode of the Book Club back in 2017, but in recent months I have grown to love this and now it’s one of my favorites! 22. Right Turn (1992)Quite possibly the cutest, sexiest, most adorable song ever made. Not only does this have Cutie Cantrell… but it also has CUTIE CHRIS!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 It also has that jerk from Mudhoney who once said he didn’t take Chris seriously, but I’m not going to talk about him because I don’t talk irrelevant. Seriously though, this is a great song and hearing Chris and Layne sing together… just iconic. 21. Brother (1992)And this one has Jerry and Ann Wilson singing together! I first heard this in July 2019 on an “Anything goes” episode of the Book Club and I’ve loved it since. COMING UP: 16. Jerry wrote this song - about his father - when he was living with Chris Cornell and Susan Silver. 17. This song is about Jerry and drummer Sean Kinney getting in an argument so heated that Sean threw a coffee table over Jerry’s head and gave him a concussion. 18. AIC’s first single! 19. #16 is a song about Jerry’s Dad - but this one is about his Mom, who sadly died of cancer in 1987. 😢 20. The music video for this song was filmed at a concert AIC did at the Moore Theatre in Seattle. The opening act that night was Temple Of The Dog, and their video for “Say Hello 2 Heaven” was from the exact same concert.
