The Weeknd was scheduled to perform in Seattle slightly before COVID struck. I had excellent seats. Alas...the show is now scheduled for May 2022.
The Super Bowl performance is the best I can get for now. Fine. I found his Super Bowl performance artistic, featuring an excellent playlist, his showmanship was impressive, his set was astounding, and he used the field wonderfully (a unique ability to use more set and less field this year since so few people were at the stadium and it was more of a made-for-TV concert). I was impressed!
Then I began reading reviews on Facebook and Twitter. And then reviews this morning. Am I the only one who can appreciate an artistic vision, set, and playlist that is perhaps more melancholic and visual than a girl in a bikini with lights and things blowing up without any meaning all over the place for 15 straight minutes (i.e. the 'normal' Super Bowl halftime show)?
I thought it was as awesome a show as possible during a halftime! The Weeknd did more with those 15 minutes than anyone else in history in my humble opinion. This was art - not only sex appeal and lights. I understand he is not a professional dancer (he's a musician). He sped his songs up a little. Some people prefer sex appeal to art. But for people who have or currently work professionally in the music industry (i.e. those whose opinion on reviews for a show like this should matter), I thought this was excellent. Even some of the reviewers at major newspapers, my peers from my previous life, trashed the show.
What do y'all think? Did I miss something? Are people just piling on in media? What are your reviews?

The audio was terrible, which took away from everything else unfortunately.
