"RATKING" TOPS FOR NINTH WEEK; MILK TEETH COMPETE FOR SEVENTH #1
Boston Manor has become the chart's fifth artist to spend a double digit number of consecutive weeks at #1 on the Burner 50. As "Ratking" makes it to a ninth week at #1, which immediately followed the one-week reign of "Plasticine Dreams", the band has now reigned for a total of 10 weeks between the two songs. If "Ratking" holds at #1 for another week, it will become the chart's seventh song to reach double digit weeks at #1. The other songs to do so are Citizen's "Cement" (14 weeks), Basement's "Aquasun" (11 weeks) and "Disconnect" (15 weeks), Crying's "Wool In The Wash" (12 weeks) and Teenage Wrist's "Dweeb" and "Mary" (10 weeks each). (It's worth noting that of those songs, only "Cement" spent more than 10 weeks at #1 consecutively.)
But Milk Teeth could put an end to Boston Manor's impressive run as "Sharks" moves 3-2, bolstered by the strong play that helped their second album's prior singles also become monster hits. "Sharks" is aiming to become Milk Teeth's seventh #1, which would extend the record for the artist with the Burner 50's most #1s that the band earned this spring when "Better" became their sixth. (Ironically, Milk Teeth were denied a double digit reign at the start of the year; following a nine-week run at #1 shared between five weeks for "Given Up" and four weeks for "Destroyer", Foxing's "Grand Paradise" blocked the band from reaching the 10-week mark.)
Three new songs enter the top 10: "Step Into You" by Hum (11-8), "The Game Is Over" by Evanescence (12-9) and in the chart's biggest move of the week, "Patience" by Chris Cornell (31-10). "Patience", originally by Guns N' Roses, is Cornell's first top 10 as a solo artist; last year, his band Soundgarden hit #5 with "Blind Dogs" from the concert film Live From The Artists Den, which documented a 2013 concert in Los Angeles. "Patience" also posts the chart's sixth-ever jump into the top 10 from below the top 30.

Four songs debut in the top 50, led at #47 by Semisonic's "You're Not Alone", the first new song in 19 years for the band behind the late 90s alternative rock hit "Closing Time".
