www.spin.com/2020/06/pearl-jam-share-uncensored-edit-of-jeremy-video/To mark National Wear Orange Day, also known as National Gun Violence Awareness Day, takes place today (June 5), and Pearl Jam marked the occasion by going deep into their archives. In 1992, the band released its upsetting, multiple-VMA-winning video for “Jeremy,” which was apparently only an edited version. In honor of National Wear Orange Day, Pearl Jam have shared the uncensored version of that clip which was previously unavailable in the U.S. due to TV censorship laws. We won’t spoil what’s made explicit in the new cut. For the occasion, the band has also shared a revised version of their “Choices” t-shirt circa 1992 that originally read “9 out of 10 kids prefer Crayons to guns” on the back. The updated shirt now reads “10 out of 10 kids prefer Crayons to guns.” Earlier this year, the band released their latest studio LP, Gigaton, one of our favorite albums of 2020 so far. Producer Josh Evans gave insight to the three-year process that went into the making of the album. The band had to postpone their upcoming 2020 tour due to the coronavirus pandemic. The European dates are set to take place in 2021. Watch the uncensored version of “Jeremy” below.

Just finished watching it. The ending is very disturbing but also a sad reality. Bullying gets overlooked way too much by adults (ESPECIALLY the staff in schools), and kids who bully don't think it's a big deal. "He/she's just a kid" my ass. "Boys will be boys" my ass. It needs to be taken more seriously and I've always had mad respect for Pearl Jam for bringing awareness to that. I think this is a music video that every kid and adult should watch.

Usually, if bullying is caught, the school staff punish the victim or even if they punish the bully as well, it's insane, cause the victim shouldn't pay for the things he/she has to endure. I've always said, that if I had a school, I'd demand from the teachers, to spend the break time in the areas where kids will be, to monitor them and if they fail to report bullying, they should get fired. It's an issue that could be prevented but schools do not want to do any effort to stop bullying, which really sucks!

The 90s were funny. They had to censor those 2 seconds in the video, yet they showed on TV all the violent Schwarzenegger and Stallone films and the serial horror slashers. I guess it was ok to kill hundreds of others, but not yourself.
In the end, I find the censored version more powerful. You don’t know right away what happened and you have to use your brain to figure it out or read about it. As for the impact of this, I doubt it will do anything. Guns and bullying are part of the American culture and the President its most ruthless protector.
