Howdy charting teammates,
I have historically found new music for my personal chart by investigating charts from around the world. For example, the HOT 100 on Billboard has always produced good new music for me to listen to. By looking at 30-35 charts from around the world each week I have found awesome music. But this method is drying up. The charts are rarely about the music anymore - it is about celebrity and music videos. Specifically, if a video is watched often on YouTube then it moves up quickly. Admittedly, I do like watching music videos at times. But I do not chart a bad song because it has a good video on YouTube. Bad songs with good music videos can chart high on most music charts these days due to algorithms.
I have taken to getting a majority of new music for my chart from this Pro Board. Y'all find some awesome new music! So where are y'all finding the best new music these days? Are there websites I can be looking at weekly that I am perhaps missing? Please share!
Sincerely,
JT (aka Teeter)

Oh trust me - most if not all of us are experiencing the same drought! The Hot 100 has become a f*cking joke. My sources are usually what's recommended to me on Spotify, plus some personal charts on here. I mostly look at FreakyFlyBry and Unkie since I feel like their tastes are pretty similar to mine. Also of course you could look here ๐ jessicastop25.blogspot.com/

I'm sure he's noticed I end up charting his favorite music 1-2 weeks after him fairly consistently. You also seem to normally be ahead of the curve for new music. So you're getting most of that 'ahead of the curve' music from charts on here as well? I fear I will offend someone, but music is a taste and not a fact, right? So the five charts I pay the most attention to currently are yours, Freaky Fly Bry, Matt's Top 100, Sam's Top 100, and frs. There aren't any other charts I check out every week. Do you have recommendations for other charts similar to yours and those other four? Perhaps I'm missing some charts that share my tastes?

I also like Matt . Bebe Reptar and MIKEB are good too (even if the former is Dr. Faceless ).

I honestly get most of my new songs from Youtube's recommendations these days, plus Spotify's personalized Release Radar playlists (the latter being responsible for a lot of my nostalgia artist songs).
Aside from the charts mentioned so far, I'd also recommend @wife's chart, he's got a good mix every week.

While I receive submissions for my blog, which often leads to some nice discoveries, I often rely on links from those I follow on Twitter and Facebook. I do review a number of charts, including many of those on this site. However much of what I listen to now does not chart outside of Dance music circles.

I think others have covered areas already, but I'll just say what I do. Spotify - 'New Music Fridays' - quite handy. Apple Music - 'Current Hits' or 'Future Hits' - not as good as Spotify I find, but you never know. Youtube Recommendations - algorithm'd toward the music you've listened to in the past - also subscribe to your favourite/core artists and check periodically if they've released anything new. Also search for 'New pop' or 'New Country' or 'new *whatever*' - quite a lot of results come up in a playlist on a sidebar, usually catered to your tastes. Official charts - check out the lower parts of the official charts because streaming tends to hog the upper parts. Personal charts - As you've mentioned, you get to know your favourites. Other's tend to find new music before I do and I end up loving it too. I'm not going to list everyone, but Bryan, Mike E, Alex and Joel (all with Top 100 charts) must know the artists personally because they chart new songs so soon Triple J Unearthed - I don't like Triple J music all that much (it's too alternative for me but occasionally there's a breakthrough artist that I like), but it's an icon here - Unearthed is a program for Indie artists to get their talent out there and on the air. I assume similar websites/radio programs exist where you are? And if you REALLY want to find new music, go to music gigs Problem there is you can't hit 'skip' if you don't like a song Hope this has helped a little

Here are my top sources:
M4B Charts Central - I also look at what others are charting. Sam's, Matt's, Bill's, Bryan's, and Andreaz's charts are the ones I check out the most.
Amazon Playlists - I've found that Amazon's Music Unlimited playlists consistently have a good mix of newly released songs, often from lesser-known artists, and they typically add them to the catalog sooner than YouTube or Spotify. My favorite playlists are: Fresh Country, Fresh Dance, Fresh Pop, Introducing Country, Introducing Pop, Brand New Music, EDM Bangers, and New in Trance.
There's also a way to browse through every single song that's been added to the catalog in a specific genre. There's thousands of new songs being added every day, many of them are really good, many of them are from artists that aren't popular, and most of them never enter the official charts.
Scandipop.co.uk - This blog posts new music every day, with a focus on pop/dance music from artists in the Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, etc). I find lots of great music here! They also have Spotify playlists that you can subscribe to.
AllAccess Mediabase - I like using the Add board and Taking Off report for Country and Canadian Country, so I don't miss anything new that's been released. I look at the Dance and Pop add boards too, but I've found them to be less useful.
Also, I've noticed that satellite radio and small-town radio stations are willing to take more chances and play independent artists that are not well known. For some reason, when these stations add new music, it doesn't get shown on the add board, and the only way to find these songs is to look at the 7-day playlist for these stations on Mediabase.
YouTube/YouTube Music - The Pop Before It Breaks playlist always has some good tunes on it, and is worth browsing every week or so. Your Mixtape and Suggested New Songs can have some good finds as well. I've also found many songs by letting YouTube plays what it thinks I would like on autoplay.
A State Of Trance - The weekly show by one of the top DJs in the world, Armin Van Buuren. I always find so many great new dance/trance/progressive tunes from listening to his show. The live in-studio interviews with the DJs themselves are a nice bonus as well.
Djfm.ca - This Canadian dance radio station has a solid playlist, and is one of the few radio stations that I occasionally listen to these days. They also have a podcast featuring their top 30 songs each week.
