4. Jefferson Airplane – “White Rabbit” (1967)EVERYONE SHUT THE f*ck UP! THE QUEEN OF MUSIC IS ON! Seriously though, where do I start with this LEGEND?!?! My love for this song, believe it or not, goes way back to 2007. Even though I didn't really f*ck with the 60's or even the 70's very much back then, I always had love for this song. That same year, around the time I started getting into Heart, @wife, MIKEB, Courage, and FreakyFlyBry all predicted that Grace would become a core artist and I laughed it off and made jokes about it. Little did anyone (especially me) know what would happen six years from then. This song is just one of the many, many reasons why I think Grace Slick is the best vocalist EVER. Her voice is just so damn powerful and amazing it's not even funny. I'm trying to talk about her without spazzing and it's incredibly challenging. I also think the message behind this song is actually brilliant. A lot of people just think it's about drugs, the end, but Grace has said in several interviews that it's about how parents read these fairytales to their children about going on these amazing adventures that very obviously allude to drug use, and then tell their kids to stay away from drugs. I've talked about how much her music has helped me constantly including in this thread. I don't wanna overtalk about it but at the same time this woman and her music means so f*cking much to me I can't help it. Oh f*ck it, time to spasm! KNGDLS;KFEAESKDFHRGT;ErDTKJRGLE;SRDKTHEGT,.L;ERSDKTTL;ESRLJR,BHJGKLF;ESGRJ,G,DKL I LOVE GRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3. Oasis – “Wonderwall” (1996)I first heard this one in early 2005 after hearing it mashed up with Green Day's "Boulevard Of Emo Brats Broken Dreams" on the BBC Radio One UK chart show back when listening to that was actually the cool and hip thing to do (remember JK and Joel aka JK and Joke? ). Shortly after that they released their then-latest single "Lyla", which eventually became their first of many #1 hits for me, and I very quickly started getting into their music. This instantly became a huge favorite of mine and I played the f*ck out of this in 2005 - in fact, this was probably my most played non-Tori Amos song of 2005. An amazing 90's alt ballad from an amazing band (who need to reunite already by the way!) that just never gets old.

2. Spice Girls – “Wannabe” (1997)Well of course this is one of my favorite songs ever - after all, THIS is the song that got me into pop music! Like I said during my top 100 all-time favorite artists countdown from 2014, it is very possible that if it weren’t for the Spice Girls and this song, I would not be posting on here right now and doing this list. And once again, now that I said that, I’m sure you all are deleting all your Spice Girls MP3’s from your computer. Seriously though, when I think of my childhood, this is one of the first songs that comes to my mind. All of their hits bring back memories for me, but this one was definitely always the biggest for me (and pretty much everyone else to be honest). You know what's funny? This was #2 on my all-time list from 2006. You know what's even funnier? This... 1. Natalie Imbruglia – “Torn” (1998)My #1 song on my all-time list from 2006, is #1 again 12 years later! Here's what I wrote about this song in March 2006 at the age of 13 years old: Well, Sebastian, you were right ALL ALONG. But honestly... I LOVED THIS SONG WHEN IT WAS OUT. I GOT THE LEFT OF THE MIDDLE ALBUM AT THE MUSIC STORE WHEN THIS WAS OUT. IT WAS THE LAST ONE LEFT. THAT ALBUM IS ONE OF MY TOP 5 FAVORITE ALBUMS EVER. SERIOUSLY, WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS AWESOME SONG. Did I ever tell you all I got an autographed pic of her back in '98 too? ;D This song had a VERY big impact on me when it first came out. Think about some of the songs that were big for me over the years. "Eight Easy Steps". "Sleeps With Butterflies". "World Wide Suicide". "Ordinary Day". "Bible Black". "Living Like A Runaway". "Hello". "Headlong Flight". "Blood For Poppies". All of those songs were f*ckING CHILD'S PLAY compared to this! VH1 played the crap out of this and I always was so happy when it came on VH1 or on the radio, I remember seeing a copy of the "Left Of The Middle" album at Borders and begging my Dad to buy it for me, which he did, and that entire album just totally takes me back to my childhood. I even wrote her a fan letter and got an autographed picture back! Unfortunately though, when I moved to Florida in 2002, it got lost during the move (as did my autographed picture of Gloria Estefan ). I went through a brief phase a couple years ago where "Close My Eyes Forever" was my #1 and not this, but it's like we say on here these days, nostalgia always wins, and I cannot think of one song that had a bigger impact on me and my musical tastes over the years than this one. Still a fantastic song from a criminally underrated singer. Thank you all for checking out this list, and I hope you enjoyed it! Sorry again for the 572 delays.

Lots of great songs in your favourites chart! Torn was a surprise for me. I was expecting Jefferson Airplane, Heart, Pat , Alanis or another strong female rocker. Torn is a great song! Really enjoyed your commentary for your songs. Your tastes are definitely a lot harder than mine. It was great seeing the poppier songs throughout. Thanks for the journey

It still blows my mind that "Torn" was SO huge for Nat. Kind of like how Whitney made a better version than Dolly of "I Will Always Love You", Natalie just NAILED this. I remember when it was climbing the charts on Rage and peaked at #2. I think she tried again with "Instant Crush" but for whatever reason, that cover wasn't as huge as "Torn" was! I mean to you and I, it had every right to be. I guess "Torn" was the right place at the right time. And who's even heard of Lis Sørensen, Ednaswap OR Trine Rein!? I sure hadn't. But man, I was pretty obsessed with "Torn" also, as when I did my Best-of-ever countdown in 2014, it came in at #32. We did have one matching Top 10'er though, with "Ironic" To think Nat's version of "Torn" was even up for a GRAMMY nomination, but lost out to "My Heart Will Go On". According to Wiki, it's the most played song on Australian radio since record keeping began Great list Jess!

I believe (without searching it, and relying only on my memory) that Lis Sorensen was one of the members of S.O.A.P. - and This Is How We Party and Ladidi Ladida are both bops.

What a great top 2 2 of the most defining songs of the 90's right there! I had no idea "Torn" was a cover until much later, and after hearing the original from Ednaswap, Natalie really owns the song and made it all her own.

Ironic is one of Alanis' best (and one of the most out of place songs in Jack 94.5's playlist ), and Thank U is also good, but a song I never really got into until M4B. Obviously Zombie is a certified bop (RIP Dolores ), and what would be a JessieLou top 10 without Invincible? Close My Eyes Forever isn't my FAVOURITE Ozzy song, and I have no issue with him doing ballads (Goodbye to Romance is amazing), but it's still not bad. I am COMPLETELY DUMBFOUNDED Grace isn't #1 and I'm also dumbfounded that Oasis isn't top 2! I will probably never go out of my way to listen to Wannabe in my life, but you closed it off with an awesome #1. #1 in 2006 and again in 2018, some things never change. Great list Jess!

I'm re-reading this thread with Julian and not to brag but I just have one thing to say... f*ck I have amazing taste in music. (Also there lack of Chris and Jerry on here is not cute, that's the only thing I hate about doing these lists, my tastes grow and change all the time. But nonetheless this list is full of great songs).
