The games have begun!
As you all know, this contest will play out slightly different this year, but the way we play will be very similar to previous years.
Starting now, each participant will submit two (2) songs to me via private message for inclusion in that week's round of the Song Contest: The first song will be your competition song for this week's round. The second song will be your elimination song, which will only be used if you are in the bottom 3 in an elimination round.
Both songs MUST be songs that were not released anywhere in the world as commercial singles. You CAN submit a single as your competition song, but in order for it to be eligible, it must NOT have appeared on any country or region's official chart. Like I mentioned in registrations, a good example of this would be Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe", which charted pretty much world-wide, but "Your Heart Is A Muscle" would be okay to submit, as that did not chart in the Top 100 anywhere.
Reminder - You also can't submit a song to me that has been submitted in previous song contests, so before you send me your submissions, double-check the list HERE.
- When you submit your songs to me, you only need to provide the title and artist. I will track down YouTube clips for each of your submissions.
If I'm unable to find a song you've submitted, I will then contact you (so we can keep the game rolling.)
- I'll post YouTube links to each submission in a thread here on M4BCC. Each participant will rank each of the songs (without including their own submission) and send their rankings to me by PM (In this round - 7 for most popular, 1 for least popular). The voting period will last one week from when the YouTube links are posted. If all votes are received before the deadline, the results will be posted right away instead of waiting for the week to be over.
- Once the voting period is over, the songs will be revealed, usually from most popular to least popular. Your ranking points will be converted into tally points each week.
As we have 8 contestants vying for the crown this year, this means the most points a contestant can receive toward their tally each round is 8. The second highest will receive 7, then 6... and so on down to 1 point. This is to make the game more fair for all. This means that even if you get 1 point in the tally, you can potentially receive 8 the next round, and maybe save yourself from being in the bottom 3. So play smart, use tactics, submit your very best songs to try and be the best song each week!
- Each round will continue like this via a 'Points Tally', until we reach an Elimination Round. This could occur in any given round (which have been predetermined by yours truly).
The three contestants who have the least amount of points in the tally by the time we reach an elimination round will be up for elimination, and therefore have their elimination songs (submitted in Round 1) used.
- I will post YouTube links to those three participants' elimination songs. The other participants, will vote on which elimination song they like the best. The three people in the "bottom 3" will not be allowed to vote. The participant whose song has the least amount of votes at the end of the Elimination Round will be eliminated from the Song Contest.
- The tally points will reset to '0' and will be adjusted down after each contestant is eliminated from the contest (8 becomes 7, 7 becomes 6 etc...)
- The two participants who survive the Elimination Round will be asked to submit a new elimination song at the beginning of the next round. Participants who were not involved in the Elimination Round need not submit a new elimination song. Any participant who is appearing in an Elimination Round for the first time following will have the option of using the elimination song they submitted at the beginning of Week 1 or submitting an entirely new elimination song.
-The final three contestants will fight it out for the win.
You can now start submitting your songs to me by PM. As I will be away, you have a little bit longer. You have until June 3rd, at 11:59 PM EST to submit your Competition Song and your Elimination Song. It can be any song, there is no theme in the first round. If I receive all submissions early, the round will begin early
Have fun!
