By now you know that I began doing charts on M4B back in 2004-2005, but of course my charts date way back to the late 90s. So, I thought this would be a fun little example we could do.
This was from a chart I did in January 2005:
PR TD
02 01 Angel - Just The Way I Am +1 (6, 1@1)
01 02 Ashanti - Only U -1 (6, 3@1)
04 03 Jump 5 - It's A Beautiful World +1 (6, 2@1)
06 04 Christina Milian - Miss You Like Crazy +2 (6, 4)
07 05 Ciara - 1,2 Step +2 (6, 2)
03 06 Green Day - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams -3 (5, 3)
11 07 Lindsay Lohan - Over +4 (2, 7)
13 08 JoJo - Baby It's You +5 (5, 8)

09 12 Kelly Clarkson - Since You've Been Gone -3 (6, 4)
12 13 Avril Lavigne - Nobody's Home -1 (3, 12)
10 14 Omarion - O -4 (4, 6)
17 15 Game - How We Do +2 (2, 15)
20 16 Annaliese Van Der Pelt - Over It +4 (2, 16)
14 17 Keyshia Cole - I Changed My Mind -3 (6, 11)

16 19 Nicole Wray - If I Was Your Girlfriend -3 (5, 12)
--- 20 Ashanti - Christmas Medley NEW (1, 20)
Now let's compare it with today's top 20 in 2015.
TD PR TI
01 01 15 Cimorelli - You're Worth It = 15@1 (18@1)
01 02 09 Morgan Evans - Like A Tornado +1 1@1
01 03 09 Christie Lamb - Manhunt +2 1@1
04 05 11 All That Remains - This Probably Won't End Well +1 #4
05 06 11 The Janes - Somebody [cover] +1 #5
06 04 09 Cimorelli - Made In America -2 #4
07 07 11 Cammie Lester - Ice And Fire = #3
08 09 15 Cimorelli - I Got You +1 #3 (4@1)
09 08 15 Victoria Avenue - Knock Knock -1 #2 (8@1)
10 10 15 Megan & Liz - Simple Life = #5 (6@1)
11 12 08 Annie Bosko - Crooked Halo +1 #11
12 16 08 Jordan Anderson - Please Don't +4 #12
13 17 07 Alex G - Make Your Move +4 #13
14 15 08 I Am They - From The Day +1 #14
15 21 06 Dallas Smith - Wastin' Gas +6 #15
16 28 04 Tori Darke - Disposable +12 #16
17 31 04 Rachel Potter & Joey Stamper - Boomerang +14 #17
18 13 13 April Kry - Fireflies -5 #2
19 19 15 Victoria Avenue - Quit You = #6 (6@1)
20 18 15 April Kry - Beauty Queen -2 #2 (2@1)
Look at the comparisons. Obviously in the early 2000s-2005 it was a battle of pop/rock/r&b on my chart. That's a star contrast to my most recent chart where it's heavy on country but pure pop is still represented as well as a lot of unique styles too.
Clearly way back then, I was so high on Ashanti. She has really done nothing for me since 2006. R&B songs on my chart have not done as well over the years on my chart lately, but The Janes who are pop/r&b could bring that back into the forefront. And of course I charted Jump 5 back then as the pop group aspect of it, transition to Cimorelli on today's list. And then there's country which was pretty hard to make my list back then, but they have been very dominant on my list the last couple years. Example:Gary Allan the #1 video of 2013 for me with Every Storm, and of course Victoria Avenue the #1 song of 2014 with Quit You [VA was #3 with Knock Knock and Megan & Liz #2 with their first music video as country-pop artists in Simple Life (need I remind you they had a catchy pop tune in 2012 with Bad For Me]
So with all that said, what do you think? If some of these songs don't ring a bell, look them up. And yes back then I do regret charting some of the songs [Game, Ciara, Raven]
