Correct.
Another clue for song #979 - two of the artists on it made their chart debut in the 1990s.

Took me a while to figure out what other band named themselves for an airplane 979. Eminem, Dr. Dre & 50 Cent - Crack A Bottle?

Yup!
975) Kelly Clarkson, perhaps?
974) This artist had many big hits, went into a slump, and then came back bigger than ever. This was the second hit during said slump.
973) This rap quartet had two hits that were spelled wrong. This was the only of those to hit the Top 40.
972) A song promoting public sex?
971) The last and biggest of the three hits by this R&B singer/songwriter, who is actually better known for his acting.
GOOD LUCK!!

Well, two out of three ain't bad. The one you got wrong was #974. This artist was much bigger than Enrique, as he/she/they have had more #1 hits than he has Top Tens.

I'm stumped for both of them... need more clues. Can't think of a song about American Idol for 975 either...
972. Pitbull - Hotel Room Service?

975) The name of the act who does this song sounds very much like a Milton Bradley game.
972) The cable station is repeated many times in the chorus, which consists of two lines, sung over and over again.
