It's time to start Week 2 of the M4BCC Song Contest! But before we do, there's a little bit of business from Week 1 to wrap up. As you may have seen in the just-closed poll for the Elimination Round, Song 2, "This One's For The Girls" by Olly Murs, was the clear winner. That song was submitted by Ari. Ari, you have made it through to Week 2! Song #3, "For You" by Angus & Julia Stone, came in second place. That song was submitted by David. And coming in last place was Song 1, "Falls To Climb" by R.E.M., which was submitted by Dan. Dan, this would normally mean that you've been eliminated from the competition. However, there are two participants who did not submit their song choices for this week in time for the deadline. So, Dan... You are SAFE! I'm sorry to report that KP and David have been eliminated from the M4BCC Song Contest. A double elimination on Week 1... Didn't I say at that beginning that you should expect the unexpected? Now let's move on and get started with Week 2! Here are this week's songs: Song 1: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzqybMSKi4ISong 2: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGuwfpSg4eoSong 3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUvenXW_LXISong 4: www.youtube.com/watch?v=14PSE0FJoUoSong 5: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY7UMHmp3jgSong 6: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYy941d7_TESong 7: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7JZ4F3zJdYSong 8: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdaK0M9KqqISong 9: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Pe2_2aakYgSong 10: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHXZ_peJe9cSong 11: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o8J74z-mgkSong 12: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aazb8Rt31nkSong 13: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNZv7Hm2GyIPlease submit your votes to me by PM no later than 11:59pm on Sunday, October 6, listing your most favorite first and your least favorite last. Thank you Jason for doing all that job! I'm so excited about this! =D I took a look at the songs and... I must say... GUYS. COME OOOON. Do you "REALLY" think you're going to win the competition with a song by Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson or Céline Dion? There's also a song, I won't name it, that peaked at #2 in my chart last month... Don't get me wrong, these songs are awesome and I'll probably rank them in high positions (unfortunately), but I want something new, something I didn't hear yet, that will BLOW MY MIND!!! Anyways, I still love you ^.^ #BoopBoopBOOP!

I can't believe somebody submitted that one, but I gotta knock props their way phor having some brass cojones!!! As phor Avril, Kelly, and Celine, don't knock 'em just cuz they're Avril, Kelly, and Celine. I already ranted a while back about how I walked out of a Song Contest on these boards in 2005 when somebody bagged on my choice of a Madonna song, just cuz it was Madonna. The point of the contest is to WIN, not to dazzle our phriends with new artists. Hell, if that were the goal, we'd also be philling up the entries with songs in other languages. However, this isn't Anthropology 101, and pholks like Dan already told us they're out to win at any cost. I believe he summed up his strategy like so: Anyway, of the phew entries I've listened to so phar, I'm MUCH more impressed with the quality of selections than what I phound in round one, so YEAH phor me, even if it brought down the JDawggster. After all, it's all about me, me, me, not toi, toi, toi.

Below are the rules for the M4BCC Song Contest 2013: - Starting right now, each participant will submit two songs to me by Private Message (PM) for inclusion in that week's round of the Song Contest: One song will be the song you want to represent you in this week's round. The second song will be your elimination song. Both songs MUST be songs that were not released anywhere in the world as commercial singles. You CAN submit a promotional single as your competition song, but in order for it to be eligible, it must NOT have appeared inside the Top 100 on any country or region's official chart (ie. the Billboard Hot 100, the UK Singles Chart, the Canadian Hot 100, etc). For example, if you wanted to submit a Justin Timberlake song from his most recent album, you couldn't submit "Mirrors" or "Suit & Tie" (or the promotional single, "Pusher Love Girl," since it peaked at #64 in the U.S.), but you COULD submit "That Girl" or "Don't Hold The Wall," as they were considered "promotional singles," but didn't appear on any country or region's official chart. Your elimination song MUST be an album or un-released (non-single) track. I thought that a song isn't available if it appeared inside the Top 100 on any country. This brings me up to Lana Del Rey's "Dark Paradise" which peaked at #42 in Austria, #45 in Germany and #48 in Switzerland. I definitely know that this song was a commercial single in my home country Austria. Sure these are low positions, but I personally think that this song can't be part of the contest. Just like Justin Timberlakes "Pusher Love Girl" as discripted above.

and Feelin' X, all those artists did really well on the global, so you don't know that they are going to phlop this round, do you?

I believe he summed up his strategy like so: Well, when I organized the first Song Contest, my intention was to expose others to cool new music. Avoiding commercial music or at least popular singles and so. Through the years, I saw it wasn't possible, cause people kept submitting songs by really popular artists. Of course we all want to win, but I wouldn't submit a song I barely like just cause it would make me win Oh and wow, I mopped the floor last round... in the elimination round of course! <3 Thanks for voting for Olly!

Awww, I'm sorry David And Jason, this is why you shouldn't wait so much to send reminders ******************* I have listened to all songs now. Now, to vote <3 There was only one song that was really truly great (besides mine) but there were other enjoyable songs. By the way Jason can't wait to see the results.. I mean, ummm, you know, what scores any given song got. I mean, no rushing you, but I'm curious lol!!

By the way Jason can't wait to see the results.. I mean, ummm, you know, what scores any given song got. I mean, no rushing you, but I'm curious lol!! I second this. But yeah, guys, I don't wanna sound like a bitch lol but can't we just enjoy the songs? Who cares if some of them are by well-known artists? It's not called a song CONTEST for nothing! I do agree with @xfer though that it's not a good idea to submit a popular song that you don't like in order to win as I see these songs as a representation of that person's tastes and what they are into, but if you like the song, and if it applies to the rules, why not? I remember the second song contest I submitted songs from Natalie Imbruglia, Tyler Hilton, and Ryan Cabrera and got first place time and time again. Also, submitting a well-known artist doesn't guarantee you a first-place slot - as we saw last week, Dan was in the bottom 3 for a Rihanna song that I actually ranked in my top 5, believe it or not lol. I also remember during the first contest I came VERY close to elimination with a Christina Aguilera song... and it was "Soar" from Stripped, her most loved album! For those who are into checking out new artists, music you've never heard before, etc. - I have an idea that I totally ripped off from Pulse. How about an "M4BCC Book Club"? Where you will listen to a song or album recommended by the participants, you listen, and then post what you think? I dunno about you guys but I'd totally participate in that.

About the reminders... Ari, I know your thoughts on this subject are because you want the game to move along. I feel the same way. However, I don't feel like I should have to send out multiple reminders to people. Also, if I sent you 5 reminders during the week, wouldn't you start to get upset that I'm bothering you with so many reminders? I don't mean to be blunt, but we're all (or most of us are) adults here. In the results post for Week 1, I put in bold print the date and time songs for the next round were due. I sent out reminders to everyone who hadn't submitted songs yet 2 days before the deadline, as a courtesy. I'm trying to be respectful of the fact that we all have lives that keep us from submitting our song choices and/or votes right away. I don't feel like I should be chasing after people like their mother, asking in a condescending baby voice, "Now, sweetie... You DID remember to submit your song choice to me for the Song Contest, didn't you?"...and I don't think any of you would want me to do that anyway. I WILL send our reminders earlier than two days prior to the end of the deadline. Reminders will now be sent out on Wednesday evenings. If any of you have suggestions of how to better handle this situation, I'm open to any and all suggestions. But keep in mind that I need to be respectful of everyone's personal lives, so I'm not going to do something that's going to make people feel pressured or want to quit the game. This was supposed to be fun. I'm sorry if it hasn't been so far. As far as Mikee's point about the Lana Del Rey song, I'm really sorry. I didn't do my due diligence in checking for chart positions for all of the entries in this round. It's my fault. I don't feel like I can ask the person who submitted that song to submit a new one, because I've already received votes for the current round. I will do a better job of checking in future rounds, so if any of you try to slip a song by me that's been on the charts anywhere, you just better expect a return PM from me! I'm really sorry that there are some people who are upset about the Song Contest. I'm trying my best to handle this hosting stuff the right way. The saying, "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time," keeps ringing in my ear. I hope you'll hang in there with me and keep playing.

Oooo I see now, a doublr elimination - wow! Does that mean we'll ALL be safe next week? How could two people NOT get their entry in? You had a whole week! I mean, I had trouble thinking up one this week, so we'll see how I go avoiding the bottom 3 LOL. I'm not that competitive like it appears a lot of people are here. I'm still stunned I placed first last week and I'm gunna milk that for as long as I can Cos I'm pretty sure it'll be the last. I think I'd be pretty sad if I left on account of an artist no-one has heard of before, in which case the next song comp should be 'Song contest by artists noone has heard of' Except Billcs and FlyBry know everybody in existance, so that probably wouldn't work too well

Once at the beginning of the round and the next 24-48 hours before they are due is good enough. Failure to still submit should disqualify you. I certainly do not want a reminder every 3 hours for an entire week (or until I submit), otherwise I would be begging to be eliminated! Oh and Ari (@xfer), as Master Yoda would say, "Patience". Jason is doing his best to keep the game going
