So after all these years, since Kelly won, I am giving up watching Idol. I have always been a faithful watcher even when others bashed it. But, this season, is the last season. First, its clear the producers want a female winner. I can live with that. Don't stock stack the cards by only having very mediocre male idols that are just fodder for the girls. If you are presenting the best 12 idols (male & female) make it so. I don't want to be manipulated like that.
But the nail in the coffin for me was Nicki Minaj. I tried to watch but Nicki is just awful as a judge. I cannot take the "judging" seriously anymore. Mariah actually pleasantly surprised me but you can tell she is stifled on the show because of Nicki. The two never engage in conversation. Keith Urban is ok....Randy is and has always been useless. But, for me Nicki is just horrible, enough for me to stop watching. It does make me sad, but this season just sucks for me.

Nicki Minaj is such an asshole it's not even funny. If you're a fan of hers and you're reading this, please don't be offended. I like some of her songs like "Moment 4 Life" and "Roman's Revenge", but as a person she is sickening. She fights with people for absolutely NO reason. Lil' Kim, Steven Tyler, Mariah, etc. She's obviously jealous of Mariah because she has more experience than her and also, of course, because she can sing. She has no business being on this show not only because of her lack of experience, but also because of her disgusting attitude. It baffles me how Christina Aguilera's every move is torn apart and yet nobody says a word when Nicki and Rihanna act like bratty little bitches. Another thing about Mariah - I don't understand why so many people are surprised at her being so nice and down to earth - she always came across that way to me. So what if she exercises in heels?? As for American Idol, I was done the second Ryan Seacrest said, "And the winner of American Idol is, TAYLOR HICKS!"

I've actually thought the opposite of the judging panel. In past season, Randy has really been the only one I've ever paid attention to because he's been an A&R guy, a musician, a producer, and everything else. I've been able to navigate through the yo dawgs, pitchies, and in it to win it catch phrases to understand that he knows what he's talking about. This season, I still think he knows what he's talking about, but he's coming off as a little bitchy with his attitude, which kind of turns me off.
I actaully really like Nicki and Keith. Sorry. I find her to be honest. And up until she shredded the male contestants last week, I thought she was honest without being mean. I don't like being mean just for the sake of being mean. That's why I never liked Simon Cowell. And I think Keith brings a lot of good advice and criticism to the table.
As for Mariah. I really, REALLY like Mariah Carey the singer. She's one of my favorites. But honestly, Mariah Carey the judge makes me want to wear earplugs. I notice when she's talking, she'll occasionally start to ramble and you wonder where exactly it's going to end up. I appreciate her being nice. But when she rambles, she reminds me a little of Paula Abdul. She doesn't ramble incoherently like Paula sometimes would. But still, she rambles.
As for the talent level on the show, that's Idol's schtick. They never put anyone on the show who is TOO talented, because they want an exciting competition, not someone who is going to win by a landslide. The only two time there was any question about who would win in the first five season was Season 2. I always hear about these talented singers (some famous like Colbie Caillat and the chick from Lady Antebellum; and some not famous, who go on to appear on other reality singing competitions) who talk about how they tried out for Idol and didn't make the cut. If they're really looking for the most talented singer, why would they let great voices slip through the cracks? It's all about ratings...and how to keep them now that there are a million of other singing competitions on TV.

I'm just getting bored with Idol. I don't want to have to sit through 2 hours of bs for 7 people to sing for 90 seconds. This show can be done in an hour.

That's what happens when the show and network see nothing but dollar signs. Two hours of programming means more advertising, and more revenue. I remember thinking it was overkill when Idol was on three nights per week.

Oh and at Idol now considering Evanescence as "Classic Rock." WELL THEY ARE AWESOME, DUH. As much as I've grown to hate Idol altogether, I still watch it cause of my dad... but, I gotta say, as an overall performance show, last night was one of the best 2-hour episodes of Idol in YEARS. There wasn't a bad performance (some were just 'okay') but the last 2: Amber and Angie, absolutely KILLED it. Angie better win this shit!

Personally, I've never found Idol interesting or worthwhile.

Personally, I've never found Idol interesting or worthwhile. You know what draws me to it? It's not so much the singing or anything else. I'm always curious to see what songs are going to be performed and how the singers will interpret them. Then, of course, I end up unintentionally getting drawn-in to the drama of the competition. lol! Congrats to this season's final two. No matter who wins, I'll be really happy. I'd be slightly more happy if Candice wins. But I think Kree's awesome too and they were two of my favorites from the beginning, so I'm rooting for them both! Yay! ;D

I'm really enjoying the Voice. The judges are a lot more likable and have a lot more chemistry with one another. Although, it looks so clear we are going to have a country singer winner. But that is who votes most I guess.
