Hi, just reusing this forum. It's been dead for a while So, i have a new computer and i'm happy with it. So since my plans to get my cousin to help me transfer everything from my old one to the new one, failed miserably, I decided to do something. First thing was to plug the old computer and everything. Well, when i start it, it starts to emit this high pitched sound at intervals, and while the monitor is on, nothing is displayed. The sound keeps emmitting and nothing happens at all. I don't even get that screen with opetions or anything. Anyone knows what happens? It was working two weeks ago, and now that i plugged it, it happens this. I don't want to lose my stuff Help! Why the old computer does this? and how can i fix it to access windows and all normally? Thanks for any help!

How old is the monitor? I know that the pre-flat screen TVs (with a tube inside of them) put out a very high pitched sound that is only noticeable when the volume is down. The sound is at 16,000 Hertz, meaning that only some people can hear it. I would imagine older computer monitors might do the same thing?
The first thing I would suggest it to make sure everything is plugged in and connected correctly. The reason I say that is because recently I was given a used computer and was under the impression that it didn't work, only to find out that thanks to ONE cord being plugged in wrong, I was getting a blank screen. How old is the monitor? Thanks for the reply! The thing is, the monitor is on, it works well. The thing that makes the sound is the... tower? cpu? whatever you call it. I already triple checked that everything is plugged right. Even when i see everything plugged, I even checked my room for any missing cable I had not plugged, but all seems to be fine. Help please!!
