I've not listened to "Hand on heart" so far. Hope this is as good as some of his older hits. Maybe I'm charting this song in the future. As I wrote "Dear darlin' " is a big hit in Austria at the moment, but this song I don't really like. This is really sad, because "Dear darlin' " is his first #1 in Austria.

Yes, I'm an Anouk fan since her "Graduated fool" album. This album is my favourite album too with my favourite song on it. But I like her older stuff too, specially "Nobody's wife" which is a great song. Sadly - in my oppinion - her "Sad singalong songs" album is weaker than her other albums, but still good.

I've not listened to "Hand on heart" so far. Hope this is as good as some of his older hits. Maybe I'm charting this song in the future. Yes, I'm an Anouk fan since her "Graduated fool" album. This album is my favourite album too with my favourite song on it. But I like her older stuff too, specially "Nobody's wife" which is a great song. Sadly - in my oppinion - her "Sad singalong songs" album is weaker than her other albums, but still good.

I agree with that, Sad Singalong Songs is a bit weaker. My favorite Anouk song is 'Girl'

"Girl" is one of my favourite tracks from "Hotel New York" too, but I prefer "Who cares" from "Graduated fool".

Week 138 – October 19^th, 2013

One song from Anouk’s “Sad singalong songs” conquered the top of the chart so far. “Pretending as always” didn’t sound as sad as the album title suggest. It’s a very good rock ballad by her. “Pretending as always” (#1) is followed by Mic Donet’s “Going insane” (#2). This power R&B/soul track from his “Plenty of love” album is actually his highest charting song. He outperforms “Pray 4 rain” which reached #4 exactly a year ago. The podium is completed by Selena Gomez’ “Slow down” (#3). In general the Top 7 of my chart is older than usual as I wrote last week. None of these songs is less than 10 weeks on chart and the tendency shows up. On the other hand there are two new songs within the Top 10. Finally “Loving you” (#9) entered this section. For Melanie C it is her 1st Top 10 hit in my 2nd chart area. She had several hits back in the 1990’s and early 2000’s where I had done my first charts. For Matt Cardle “Loving you” is another big hit following “Anyone else” (#69) in the Top 10. The other song is “Miss Misery” (#10) by Alex Hepburn. For her it is her 1st Top 10 hit. The deep voice makes this song special for me. Maybe this entry is only the begin for something big.

“Firestarter” (#11) by Samantha Jade failed to reach the Top 10. So Samantha Jade has to wait for her 2nd Top 10 hit and the first since her #1 smash hit “What’ve you done to me” earlier this year. Storming into the Top 20 are two songs. First to mention is “Dimentico tutto” (#13) by Emma. Last year she had two #1 hits from her first album “Saró libera”. If “Dimentico tutto” is rising as fast as this song showed over the last weeks this is a sure shot for a #1 hit which could be her 3rd overall. Or could it be that Ben Montague gets his first #1 in a few weeks with “Love like stars” (#15) which climbed up seven spots this week. Also new in the Top 20 is “Look at me now” (#19) by Aurea.

For this week’s highest new entry you don’t have to go down the chart. This week this one can be found within the Top 20. At the end of September the Bundesvision Song Contest happened in Germany, but I had no time to show this contest. This is very bad, because I didn’t saw the performance by 17 year old Luna Simao. Her German soul song “Es geht bis zu den Wolken” („It goes up to the clouds“) debuts at #16. This song has written hit all over the song and could be a massive concurrence for Emma and Ben Montague for reaching #1. I absolutely love this song and you should listen to this song even you don’t understand what she is singing about.

Before writing over some other interesting new songs on my chart I’ve to write something about the greatest gainer of the week. Last week I pointed out that “Can we dance” (#34) by the new British boy band The Vamps could be massive the following week. This week this song climbed up 39 spots and confirmed my prediction. Let’s move on the new entries. While Christina Stürmer’s last two singles flopped a little bit on my chart her 4th official single “Ich hör auf mein Herz” (“I listen to my heart”, #56) brings her a solid debut on my chart. With a good video and more radio airplay behind than the mentioned singles this could be a bigger hit for her. Probably she reaches the Top 10 with this song. Then there is another song from the Bundesvision Song Contest. Pohlmann’s 2nd single “Atmen” (“Breathe”, #57) debuts only one spot behind Christina Stürmer’s new song.

Also getting a debut is Autumn Hill’s third single. “Fire” (#62) is following the bands 1st #1 hit “Can’t keep waiting” (#77) which debuted directly in the Top 10 this year. “Fire” is another strong song from this Canadian country band, but not as strong as “Can’t keep waiting”. In my opinion this is no #1 song, but it should reach Top 20 at least. Hopefully I’m right with this prediction in the end. Other new entries are “Disco love” (#71) by The Saturdays, “Walking on air” (#72) by Katy Perry, “Gone” (#83) by Celeste & Carmel Buckingham, “Zoom” (#91) by Jem, “Kill Bill” (#96) by Brown Eyed Girls, “Simple lovin’ ” by Haley Ray, “Hot & cold” (#98) by Jewelry and “Bon voyage” (“Have a nice trip”, #99) by Marlene.

Week 139 – October 26^th, 2013

One song on my list is running from record the record. This week “Receive” (#71) by Alanis Morissette broke the next record. “Receive” is the first song on my chart surpassing the one-year-mark. Three other songs reached 52 weeks before, but failed to go at least one more week on my chart. These songs have been “Turning tables” my year-end #1 back in 2011 by famous Adele then “Set fire to the rain” (year-end #3 in 2011) also by Adele and Anouk’s “What have you done” (year-end #4 in 2011). “Receive” stayed ten weeks at #1 and had been #29 in the year-end 2012. Maybe this year she is going even higher.

But let’s go to this week’s chart. I’ve got a new #1. It’s the first for Mic Donet. “Going insane” reached #1 in its 13th week and failed to equal Matt Cardle’s record with “It’s only love” by one week. Last week’s #1 “Pretending as always” (#2) by Anouk dropped one. “Dimentico tutto” is completing the Top 3. This is Emma’s 1st Top 3 hit this year and a sure shot for next week’s #1 if Mic Donet is giving up his position. “Dimentico tutto” sprinted up eight spots and is the only new song in the Top 10. This song replaced “Loving you” (#11) by Matt Cardle & Melanie C after only one week in the Top 10. The rest of the songs in this section of my chart only changed the positions a little bit.

Last week’s top debut “Es geht bis zu den Wolken” (#14) by German youngster Luna Simao only climbed up two spots. She is followed by another German youngster. Madeline Juno climbed up ten spots for scoring her first Top 20 hit on my chart. Both songs are doing well and have a realistic chance to enter the Top 10 next week. “It’s my party” (#19) by Jessie J and “Wake me up” (#18) by 77 Bombay Street also reached the Top 20 for the first time. The other 77 Bombay Street song on my chart “Follow the rain” (#24) has been released as 3rd official single.

Sandra van Nieuwland climbed up 34 spots with her beautiful song “Hunter” (#39). This song is this week’s greatest gainer. Not far behind is this week’s highest new entry. It’s Avril Lavigne’s third single from her upcoming new album. With Chad Kroeger “Let me go” (#42) this song has everything to follow her only #1 “Rock N Roll” (#7). At the moment I can’t wait to listen to this new album. Hopefully this is a good one. The next best new entry comes from Steve Grand. While his debut “All-american boy” failed to chart the follow up “Stay” (#61) is catchier and far better than his debut (in my opinion). Steve Grand’s chart debut is followed by the chart debut of 14-year-old Norwegian girl Marthe Emilie with“Your picture” (#62).

Other debuts are “Nu” (#72) by Elin Överfjord, “Lived a lie” (#78) by You Me at Six, “Amore puro” (#83, “Pure love”) by Alessandra Amoroso, “Like you” (#84) by Dinah Nah, “Heart of a lion” (#86) by The Griswolds, “Hurt you” (#91) by Toni Braxton & Babyface, “Guide you home” (#94) by Fluorescent Hearts and “When the darkness comes” (#95) by Colbie Caillat.

Week 140 – November 2^nd, 2013

And here is the next #1 on my chart. Mic Donet stayed only one week at the top with “Going insane” (#2). This week he dropped one spot. Therefore Emma reached #1 for the first time since “Non e’ l’inferno” peaked at #1 in May 2012. “Dimentico tutto” is her third #1 overall. And this song could stay a little bit longer than Mic Donets’s #1 hit. The podium completing is Anouk with the former #1 “Pretending as always” (#3). Returning into the Top 5 in its 15th week is “Spiral” (#5) by Alanis Morisette. This week there are two new songs within the Top 10. The first new song is “Love like stars” (#6) by Ben Montague. So far this is his best charting song ever. “Love like stars” peaked one position higher than “Rainy day” from his debut album. And it seems that there is no limit for this song. His 2nd song on the chart “Another hard fall” (#22) is a little bit in trouble this week by not reaching the Top 20. The other new song comes from German youngster Luna Simao. Her catchy song “Es geht bis zu den Wolken” (#9) climbed up five spots.

Finnish band Satin Circus debuted in June directly in the Top 10 with their international debut “Emma” (#34). “Emma” reached #1 fast and stayed for four weeks. This week their 2nd single gave its debut. “If you love me” (#16) is different from their first single which could have been easily an One Direction song. “If you love me” is this week’s highest debut and debuted directly within the Top 20. The only question at the moment is “Could this song also top the chart?”. The future will give the answer, but at the moment I feel that only handful songs have the chance to top the chart.

Madeline Juno is still climbing up the chart with “Error” (#13). This week she failed to enter the Top 10. Also Swiss Folk Rock band 77 Bombay Street failed to reach the Top 10. “Wake me up” (#14) continued the run from the last weeks and could do the last step next week while their other song “Follow the rain” (#23) struggled a little bit. And there is Jessie J. Her latest single “It’s my party” (#15) is also climbing up the chart. Unfortunately the Top 10 has only 10 spots and not every song could be in there by next week.

Giving a respectable chart debut are Belgium Hooverphonic. “Amalfi” (#37) debuts within the Top 40 and this is the first song I like from this band. Norwegian young girl Marthe Emilie is running up the chart with her debut single. “Your picture” (#43) is a very interesting song and has everything I like. This week this song is the greatest gainer of the week. The next best new entry comes from well-known Matt Cardle. “For every heartbreak” (#55) is another album track which debuts on my chart. It is a solid song, but I think no future #1 hit, but he should reach the Top 20 with this song. He also debuted with “Water” (#91) down the chart.

There are two more interesting chart debuts. The first one comes from Demi Lovato. “Neon lights” (#61) is a more dance oriented song, but for now this song failed to get major attention. The other song is the debut single from Canadian girl Jacelyn Kenyon. Her song “It’s all fun (‘till somebody gets hurt)” (#68) debuts directly out of the M4B Song Contest where Bryan suggested this song. Other debuts are “Bonfire heart” (#79) by James Blunt, “Another summer” (#80) by I65, “Play with fire” (#88) by Andrew Allen. “Cần Một Ai Đó” (#93, “I wanna dance”) by Đông Nhi, “Boom kah” (#94) by Robin feat. Mikael Gabriel & Uniikki, “Revolution” (#95) by Dicks On Fire feat. Lena Meyer-Landrut, “Veto veto” (#97) by Sawoff Shotgun, “Almost is never enough" by Ariana Grande & Nathan Sykes and “Broken glass park” (#100) by Simple Minds.

Great debut for Satin Circus!

Samantha Jade was on a good way, but at the moment it is very hard to get in the Top 10. Several songs are blocking others with their longactivity in the Top 10 at the moment. This was also the reason, why Mel C & Matt Cardle only stayed their for one week.

Matt Cardle week!!!! However, I am a bit puzzled at the debuts of both songs. While Forv Every Heartbreak is amazing, I think Water is almost perfect, how could it debut so low? LOL don't mind me, it debuted, I should be happy lol Anyway, how often, songs that debut so low, reach the top 10?

Anyway, I never followed up on my last comment. How come you don't like Dear Darlin' It's his best song on the album! Maybe you'll like the version with Alizée? Anyway, it's, in contrast, so good to see Right Place Right Time entering the top 50 <3

Satin Circus debuting! I liked the song when you posted it some time ago. Glad it's a debut so high!

It's quite a difference between both songs. I like both songs, but in my oppionen his more pop orientated song are better. "Water" is one of his slower songs, and songs which are slower have it a little bit harder than other songs on my chart. Sure there are exceptions, but most of the time these songs have lower peaks. Interesting question about songs reaching the Top 10 from this section. I looked over my chart so I can answer this question. So far 889 songs started their chart run in the last section (91 - 100) of my chart. Circa 5,4 % (or 42 songs) of these songs reached the Top 50 and only 0,8 % (or 7 songs) reached my Top 10. One of these songs ended up as #1 which has been "I'll be waiting" by Adele from her amazing "21"-album in two chart runs. From this specific spot 91 where "Water" debuted it is a bit different. 52 songs debuted at this position. 11,5 % (or 6 songs) reached the Top 50, but non of these songs reached the Top 10. You see that there is a chance for reaching the Top 10, but the chance is only minimal.

I absolutely have no connection to this song. This song has been #1 in Austria for four weeks and got a lot of airplay (i think it is overplayed at the moment) with both versions you mentioned. So I know the one with Alizée too. In the end I only can say that this is no song I would like to chart, but who knows. Maybe I'm charting this song in a half year or so. Something happened before with Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know", Aloe Blacc's "Loving you is killing me" or Marlon Roudette's "New age" to name a few songs I've charted several months after their Top 10 peak in Austria.

This is an amazing song. At moment I feel that this song could be the bands 2nd #1 after their song "Emma". "Emma will reach a very good position in my year-end chart 2013, but more about that in a later post.

Week 141 – November 9^th, 2013

Italian singer Emma is holding the top spot with “Dimentico tutto” (“I forget everything”). One more week at #1 and she could outperform “Tra passione e lacrime” (“Between passion and tears”) which had been #1 last year in April. New in the runner’s up position is British singer Ben Montague. “Love like stars” (#2) had been his first single back in 2012 from his adorable 2nd album “Tales of flying and falling”. Falling down one spot is Mic Donet with “Going insane” (#3). Still there are six #1 songs in my Top 10. Beside some position changes there is only one new song in this part of my chart. The only new song comes from Switzerland. “Wake me up” (#10) this time not by Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc is 77 Bombay Street’s 5th Top 10 hit from two albums and 17 charting songs.

Between the spots 11 and 20 there are some songs which are trying to replace the older ones in the Top 10. First to mention is again Madeline Juno with “Error” (#11). This week only the climb by 77 Bombay Street prevented that she score her first Top 10 hit. In their 2nd week Satin Circus are climbing up the chart. Four spots better than last week “If you love me” (#12) is on its way to reach the bands 2nd Top 10 hit. And there is Jessie J who is doing well with “It’s my party” (#13). This one could be her 1st Top 10 hit since her #1 smash hit “Domino” back in February 2012. Two others who actually have a Top 10 hit are also trying to replace their songs. It’s Avril Lavigne with Chad Kroeger and their song “Let me go” (#14) and of course  Emma with “Amami” (#15, “Love me).

A notable comeback is celebrating Israel born French singer Tal. Her cooperation with Flo Rida “Danse” (#24) was on its way out of the chart when I listened to her album this week. What should I say? I like her album, but once again it hasn’t been released in Austria so far. In the meantime “Danse” returned and is this week’s greatest gainer. If you are looking for the highest new entry you have to go down the chart this week. It only can be found outside the Top 50. This week biggest debut comes from well-known Pink with her latest single. “Walk of shame” (#52) is leading the debuts including two more songs from her last album “The truth about love”. Her other debuts are “Slut like you” (#53) and “Beam me up” (#68).

Between all these Pink debuts there is the debut by the latest Lady Gaga single. “Do what U want” (#61) is featuring R. Kelly for whom it is the first chart appearance. Also an interesting debut is giving Austrian singer Carl Peyer. Back in the 1980’s he had two chart hits with “Romeo and Julia” (peaked at #7 in Austria in 1987) and “Du bist wie a Wunder” (#23 in 1987, “You’re like a miracle”). Then he only had a few songs which got some airplay in the 1980’s. If the Austrian music stations give “Liebe ist” (#82, “Love is”) a chance this one could be his 3rd Austrian chart hit. Other debuts this week are “Wasting all these tears” (#76) by Cassedee Pope, “Forgot you” (#77) by Bella Ferraro feat. Will Singe, “Come & get in trouble with me” (#78) by Ricki-Lee, “You set my world on fire” (#81) by Tina Arena, “We remain” (#83) by Christina Aguilera, “Live for the night” (#86) by Krewella and “Softest place on earth” (#87) by Craig Smart.
