New talent competition show on NBC, similar to Simon Cowell's show X Factor. Mentors are Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine from Maroon 5, and Blake Shelton. Premiered last night.
Did anyone else watch this? When I first heard about it I was going to watch it out of curiosity because of Christina and Adam, but I wasn't sure about the idea of having another singing competition. I enjoyed this show though, actually. Much better than AI in recent years. I don't remember the names that well to be honest but I LOVED the girl who sang "Rolling In The Deep" and the girl who sang "Come As You Are". Tarralyn and Frenchie were great too although I think Frenchie could've picked a better song than "I Kissed A Girl". Had she done something more soulful I think the mentors would've pressed their buttons quicker.
I can't wait for next week, especially since I heard that Rockstar Supernova winner Lukas Rossi is supposed to be on there and I want to see the mentors tell him he sucks. ;D
Also, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are hot.

I watched this last week and plan to watch it again this coming Tuesday. I like it much better than American Idol. (I don't plan to watch more than a few episodes of X-Factor because I can't stand Simon Cowell and think he's a fraud.)
I really like the fact that the mentors are picking these people based solely on the sound of their voice. The thing that has bothered me about AI for the past several seasons is that a contestant will get up on stage and completely butcher a song. Then, the judges fall all over themselves, talking about how phenomenal the performance was. And you know it's only because that person can be marketed (and make the executives money) more easily than some of the other contestants. These reality singing competitions are so phony and plastic...yet I can't stop watching. lol!
Granted, The Voice is a reality show just like AI and X-Factor, so I'm sure marketing and money-making potential will come into play during the later rounds of the competition (if you watched the show, you know what I mean). But as of right now, I really like the possibilities of what could happen.

Those were the two finest performances and I hope these gals can keep it up. What I particularly like about the show is that the judges are enthused about the performers, the concept, and the songs. It is pretty far away from the AI format and I'm glad about that. Finally someone has realized that audiences don't want contestants torn to shreds on world-wide TV. We want to get to know them, encourage them, and support them. I think each mentor's team has merits but it's too hard to judge on just one week. I'll be watching

Not as good as week one, but some solid singers. Nice to see some people get a second chance too - how often would that ever happen?

I agree with Bill. This week's show wasn't as good as the first week. I guess they were trying to draw as big of an audience in as possible for the first week. The second round looks like it's going to be interesting. From the previews, it looks as if during the "battle round," two people will be singing at the same time, rather than back-to-back. I'm interested to see how that plays out.

I read somewhere that this did better than Glee and Dancing With The Stars last week. If that's true, THE EMANCIPATION OF XTINA HERE WE COME!
As for last night's show, I thought Frenchie and Tarralyn doing "Single Ladies" was AWESOME. I loved when Vicki and Nikki did "f*ckin' Perfect" as well. I'm so glad Vicki and Frenchie made it in the finals!

I read somewhere that this did better than Glee and Dancing With The Stars last week. Amen. It is better than both shows anyway. lol I'm glad Patrick Thomas won. Both he and Tyler Robinson did really well performing Elvis' "Burning Love", but Blake made the better choice IMO. ;D

VICCI MARTINEZ IS AMAZING. IF SHE DOES NOT WIN I WILL THROW MY TV OUT THE WINDOW. Seriously, she reminds me of Patrice Pike from Rock Star Supernova and I'm sure everyone who was around for that show remembers how crazy I went over her.

LOL Well actually the only people on the show I don't like are the country dude on Cee Lo's team and Devon from Adam's team, and Taylor/Tori Thompson and Casey Weston are just okay. I like everyone else though.

My prediction is that Chubby Country Singer (aka Jeff) on Adam's team is going to end up winning.
I like both Vicci & Nakia from Cee-Lo's team, Frenchie from Christina's team, Dia from Blake's team, and Javier & Devon on Adam's team. I can't pick any of the contestants and say that any of them have a bad voice. I think the Thompsons & Xenia need a bit more work. But all of the others are very good in their own right.
But I've noticed on reality shows like these, where the audience is allowed to vote, it's always the most innocuous, inoffensive contestant that ends up winning. Not trying to take away from Jeff's talent, because he's got a GREAT voice. But that's how these reality shows go...and that's why I believe he'll be the winner.
My prediction for tonight... From Adam's team: America saves Jeff and Adam saves Javier. From Cee-Lo's team: America saves Nakia and Cee-Lo saves Vicci. I would be surprised if Curtis or the Thompsons get saved by America, but they ARE both Country acts, so maybe America will vote one of them through instead. Either way, I think Cee-Lo saves Vicci, regardless of what happens to Nakia.

Jason I agree with your predictions for tonight except I think America will save Javier and Adam will save Jeff. Jeff is good but Javier seems to be a HUGE favorite so I think he's going to win. Xenia needs more work yes but I do think she's improving and I do believe she is very talented. For some reason her voice reminds me a bit of Anna Nalick (can't remember the last time anyone mentioned her on here ). Aside from the future legend that is Vicci Martinez, my other favorites are (in no order), Frenchie, Beverley, Javier, Xenia, Nakia, and honestly I wasn't into Dia at first but I LOVED her performance of "Heartless".

I'm liking Javier, Beverley, Vicci, Devon (HUGE pleasant surprise this guy!), and Jeff right now. Patrick and Frenchie are good, I'm not sure the rest should have made it this far. Some great voices though who should be going places.
