So I have a dilemma. I have about 7,000 songs on my pc, and I want to transfer them to my laptop. Only thing is, most of the songs on my pc aren't named right (in the file) and I want to go through them by fixing the file names so they are correct and deleting the stuff I don't want.
Anyone know any good media managers? I'm in serious need of something because going with explorer and trying to find duplicates and shit is gonna be way too much work!

I would also like this kind of information if anyone has it. I'm sure we're not the only ones with large music collections on computer that may eventually have to be moved. Just trying to rename and categorize them in iTunes is a pain.

Yeah, I know exactly what your taking about... the files are all named different and are in all different folders and it's just a mess... I'd recommend a program called MediaMonkey. One of the of the things you can have MediaMonkey do is go through your entire music library and rename all your mp3s based on the song's artist and title. I've used it a few times, and it works really well! www.mediamonkey.com/

I think I used that at one point, but I can't remember now. I'll possibly give it a shot tomorrow.

All of my music is correctly ID3 tagged on my iPod. I use a program called SharePod to transfer my music collection to my computer for backup every so often and have it export it all with filenames of my choosing (I have it use Artist - Album - Song). It's really nifty.
I frequently go through spurts of making sure my music is like ID3 tagged perfectly. Every now and then, I'll go and add the lyrics/other things/etc... But it takes such a long time.
All the songs on my iPod have correct Title/Album/Artist/Genre (My opinion of the genre)/Album and/or Single Artwork. I've yet to add the correct year/track #/lyrics for them all, but am working on it slowly. Haha.
