I've been enjoying the latest series of Doctor Who, particularly with David Tennant as the Doctor. But he'll be leaving the show after 2009 and is being replaced by the youngest Doctor yet, 26 year old Brit actor Matt Smith. To me Tennant will be a hard act to follow. I haven't watched all of the Doctors over the years (particularly before the mid 70's), but he's the best one we've had since Tom Baker in the late 70's/early 80's. jam.canoe.ca/Television/2009/01/03/7910556-ap.html

I love Dr who
I agree, david tennant will be a hard act to follow. I was hoping for a black doctor who just because it would be different considering they had a black assitant. Can't wait to see his debut

You can tell the show is going for the teeny bopper audience with the new pick.

I have enjoyed Dr. Who for years. I am wondering about the ultimate direction of the show with the departure of David Tennant. He has been one of the high points of the series and I wonder if the popularity of the show will decline with the new Doctor. Mark Smith may become the 2000's version of Peter Davison, who followed Tom Baker that began the decline in popularity of the new Doctor Who's in the early to mid 1980's.

Well the show is know for cast changes so people who may have enjoyed the old series should be used to it.

It'll depend on how the audience accepts the new Doctor. The only instances where I've read the new Doctor wasn't too accepted were Colin Baker and Sylvestor McCoy. (The latter the audience complained was making the series too light, so the writers remade him into a darker figure).

I can't get into Doctor Who. It's so hokey and bathetic.
