en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VirtumondeAlso known as Vundo. It's a trojan horse that got into my computer after I was downloading a file from one of those torrent sites. It attaches itself to necessary Windows processes such as Winlogon.exe and Explorer.exe and causes computer freezes, popups for rogue antispyware programs/amateur dating sites, and denial of service with websites such as Yahoo/Google/Hotmail. I discovered something was wrong with my computer this morning when an icon popped up saying that automatic updates were disabled, then I noticed I couldn't get into my Yahoo Mail account and since then I've searched endlessly to troubleshoot, it wasn't until about 1 PM when I finally discovered the root of the problem using Spybot Search and Destroy, after scanning for about three hours I have most of it under control (for instance my computer's running faster and I can access my Yahoo and Hotmail now) but it's not 100% gone and I still need to work on getting rid of it. I hope this encourages people to be more careful about those torrent sites, me personally after going through all this I'm never downloading from them ever again!

Okay I'm still having problems, and I'm looking up how to completely remove it. Some sites say it's possible to remove the spyware for free but it'll be extremely time consuming (and since my next semester of classes begins today this is the last thing I need) and others say hiring a professional to remove the threat is the only way to get rid of it.
Oh by the way, Yahoo's not working for me again.

Not in this case, because the virus attaches itself to processes that are needed for the computer to function, such as Winlogon.exe and Explorer.exe. That's why getting rid of the virus is excruciatingly difficult.

Well, after endless hours and numerous file scans, I think I've finally gotten rid of the virus - I'll run a couple more scans later just to be sure it's not just a fluke.
