So, off one listen. You've got Human, Losing Touch, Spaceman - obvious winners. Huge choruses, anthems to the nines. Joy Ride and Neon Tiger have their flaws, but they work well for the most part and will sound great live. But other than that? Everything else kinda falls flat. Dustland Fairytale, Crippling Blow, Forget About What I Said - have some glimpse of hope, but never really get off the ground. Overall, there is nothing that touches the likes of When You Were Young or Read My Mind - let alone ANYTHING off of Hot Fuss. Maybe it'll be a grower? I hope to God it's a grower. 6/10 for now. But definitely their weakest effort to date

One listen = found it a bit underwhelming. Second listen = a LOT better. The hooks and melodies aren't as immmediate as "Somebody Told Me", "Read My Mind", or even "Bones". It's a bit of a challenging listen the first time around.
I'm digging "Losing Touch", "Human", "Spaceman", "A Dustland Fairytale", "This Is Your Life", and "The World We Live In" at the moment. "Joy Ride" is quite different from what we're used to hearing from them -- has a bit of a disco-influence to it. "Neon Tiger" feels like a Sam's Town reject at the moment.
As far as singles go: 1. Human 2. Spaceman 3. Joy Ride 4. This Is Your Life/ Losing Touch

Well It's better than the non-single album tracks on "Sam's Town" but there are no songs that compare to "When You Were Young" and "Read My Mind." "Hot Fuss" is still probably their best album

Alright, so maybe I was a bit harsh.
With a few more listens - more songs are growing on me. And overall, it's pretty damn good. But like Cody said - no song touches WYWY or RMM - but I do think its more consistent than Sam's Town.

I think I want the next single to be "Joy Ride"

I think Spaceman is a great, logical 2nd single.
But yeah - Joy Ride, or even Losing Touch would work well.

Gets better with more listens. I think "Sam's Town" is perfect, and "Hot Fuss" kinda middle of the road. So, this new album is better than Hot Fuss. I also agree that there are no songs as strong as "For Reasons Unknown" or "Sweet Talk"!!!!!!!!!! (best song ever!) but it's consistent from song to song.
"Goodnight, Travel Well" is impressive, such a musical beast! So good! "I Can't Stay" and "A Dustland Fairytale" are also songg that have caught my attention. I expect this to grow more on me as the days go by, and it's easily in my top 5 albums of the year.

This is getting better with each passing listen. But I think the first half of the album, (Losing Touch, Human, Spaceman, Joy Ride, A Dustland Fairytale) - will always be the best part of it. Very well near flawless.
The reviews for the album are quite strong. I've read some that range from positive to overwhelming praise. A common theme is that they've ditched the self-conscious attempts that plagued "Sams Town" and re-discovered their niche.
Not my choice of words given that I love Sam's Town - but, still nice to hear some good press!

I can honestly say that I'm enjoying the entire album -- the only difference being that this one took a bit longer to "get". It's definitely their most 'pop' album to-date in comparison to Hot Fuss (which was BRILLIANT) and Sam's Town. I can find myself going back to Day & Age every day so far.
"Joy Ride" is quite addictive at the moment. I don't know if it's because of the novelty of hearing something different from them. The first half is definitely stronger -- the album isn't perfect, but it comes close. The only one that I'm kind of 'meh' about is "I Can't Stay". It feels like something is missing. Other than that, I can possibly hear these songs being played at a large venue with the crowd roaring away to some of these tracks.
My only complaint is that they should've included "Tidal Wave" to the standard tracklisting. Not sure why they left that one off! Grrr. *shakes fist*

Debuts with 468k worldwide. A commendable figure for a modern-day Alternative Rock band, but still represents an alarming drop from the 800k+ bow of "Sams Town" a mere two years ago.

This has been selling well worldwide throughout the Christmas season, with 4 straight weeks of selling between 240-280k.
Worldwide total stands at an impressive 1.5 million in just 5 weeks. About 450-500k of that from the U.S.

So good to hear the album is doing well. After all the fan complaints, I was worried. The reviews they have been getting have been mostly positive. Go Killers!!!!!!

That's great news.
I'm liking this album more and more. I find it a bit more enjoyable than 'Sam's Town'.
