LEAKED.
"Early Winter" is really good, she should have gone with this first instead of the huge mess that is "Wind It Up".

LEAKED. "Early Winter" is really good, she should have gone with this first instead of the huge mess that is "Wind It Up". I think "Wind It Up" was only meant to hype up the rest of the album. I honestly don't think they expect it to be a huge hit anyway. "Early Winter" is awesome. I hope it becomes a single at some point. I kinda wished she headed towards that 80s-synth pop route more.

Alright. I'm done listening to the album.
I can see why they would go with "Wind It Up" as the first single. Much like WYWF, it's weird, but it works...well almost.
I'm happy "The Sweet Escape" is gonna be the 2nd single. Very radio-friendly. Does anyone else think that it sounds kind of like Madonna's "True Blue" during the chorus? Anyways, great track.
Now the one that I was quite worried about was the inclusion of "Orange County Girl". I didn't enjoy it at all from the clip. But, after hearing the thing in its entirety, it's not that bad. I still personally think it's a little bare in terms of production. To me, it's missing something to give the song an extra 'umph'.
"Early Winter" is one of the best tracks on the album. I'm glad that Tim collaborated with Gwen because they've produced a wonderful, sublime piece of work. I hope this gets a single release. You know, I actually wouldn't mind if No Doubt went in this direction with their next album. It'll make their sound a little 'richer'.
"Now That You Got It" is ready-made for the dancefloor! I can honestly see this one being played in the clubs. Complete with sirens, a funky bassline, Gwen chanting. I guess this could be the "Hollaback Girl" of the album, but more melodic.
"Yummy" is by far one of my favourites. I absolutely love the minute long breakdown at the end of the song. Think Kelis' "Milkshake" meets Robin Thicke's "Wanna Love U Girl".
"4 In The Morning" - this along with "Early Winter" make up the "Cool"/"The Real Thing" combo. I liken this one to be more like "The Real Thing", except this doesn't sound like New Order. Simply 80s-inspired synth pop.
"Fluorescent" - another 80s-synth pop track. The production isn't too heavy. This song reminds me of Bananarama's "Look On The Floor (Hypnotic Tango)".
"Breakin' Up" is the most urban-sounding song on here. I still don't know how I feel about this one. I'm not sure if it quite works. I think it's a grower. It's got a pretty good beat. Slim Thug is not featured on here, although I actually think it would work better if there was a rapper on this one.
"Don't Get It Twisted" goes back to that No Doubt sound that we've all grown with and love. But this could be another one for the clubs. I don't know why but this sort of reminds me of "Hey Baby".
"U Started It" - sounds like a cousin of Robin Thicke's "Wanna Love U Girl" with a more 80s delivery. Another favourite.
"Wonderful Life" is a great track to end the album with. Very Depeche Mode-esque.
Overall, a solid album that can easily stand beside L.A.M.B.
Here's what I release as singles: 1. Wind It Up 2. The Sweet Escape (feat. Akon) 3. Now That You Got It 4. Yummy (feat. Pharrell) 5. Early Winter (or "4 In The Morning", but I prefer the former)

This is a TERRIFIC follow-up to LAMB! I just listened to it and Sweet Escape is AMAZING! SO GLAD that it's the second single! Now That You Got It is really hot as are Yummy, 4 in the Morning, Fluorescent, and Early Winter! I'll definately be buying this on December 5th!
However, I am somewhat worried about sales for this, at least in the beginning, because WIU isn't that big and she hasn't done a lot of promo.

"Sweet Escape" is definitely a very good choice for the second single.
I'm starting to wonder, though, if radio will be quick to pick up on this. They picked up on "Wind It Up" immediately, yet it turned out to be a relative flop.

Debuts at number 26 in the UK on sales of 33,632. From Music Week: First single Wind It Up debuts at number eight on sales of 10,381 downloads, but Gwen Stefani’s second solo album, The Sweet Escape has to settle for a number 26 debut on sales of 33,632. The album makes a slower start than Stefani’s first solo set Love. Angel. Music. Baby, which made its debut two years ago last week at number 14 on sales of 45,484. It peaked 24 weeks later at number four, and will by now have passed the million sales mark, having sold 999,997 copies to close of business on Saturday.
