Headed for a solid 320k in sales first week out of the gate. Unfortunately, only good enough for the runner up spot.

Straight in at #1 in the UK with 268,946 sales.
Wiped the floor with Evanescence beating them by almost 3:1.

I can't stop listening to the album right now. I finally dig "My List". ;D

Honestly, what brilliant sales! They are a shoe-in for a 700-750k Global first week launch. Which is f----ing glorious.
I love everything about this album. The Killers are in their prime and it's a god damn beautiful thing.

I just listened to this. I wasn't really paying attention since I was downloading some stuff. But from when I was paying attention, I really enjoyed it! "Bones" is great. Ari, if you're reading this, thanks for recommending this album to me!

It's a good album, certainly more consistent than "Hot Fuss" but I think I still much prefer "Hot Fuss" at the moment as "Sam's Town" seems to lack the anthems that defined their debut.
Album rate on initial listenage: (out of 10)
07 Sam's Town -- Enterlude 06 When You Were Young 08 Bling (Confessions Of A King) 05 For Reasons Unknown 06 Read My Mind 06 Uncle Johnny 05 Bones 03 My List 06 This River Is Wild 07 Why Do I Keep Counting? -- Exitlude

I think the anthems on 'Sams Town' only emerge after many listens. It's honestly taken me a solid 2 weeks since the initial leak to establish songs such as "Bling", "Bones", and "Sams Town" as close to "Somebody Told Me" caliber.
While songs such as "For Reasons Unknown", "River Is Wild", and even "Uncle Johnny" only get better with each listen.
But you are correct, no song has a truly monstrous chorus a la "Mr. Brightside". Although the sure but steady hit maker "When You Were Young" (which is now almost #1 on Alternative, and closing in on top 40 CHR), I think is proof that audiences will warm up.
