I hope they decide to release this in the U.K. soon on the label that Metric are signed to (Drowned in Sound).

I wrote a review on the album, here it is Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton – Knives Don’t Have Your Back This is Emily Haines of Metric solo record, though it isn’t her first foray into the solo world. Back in 1996 she worked on an album called “Cut in Half and Also Double.” Well, 10 years later and after making two albums with Metric, Emily has decided to go back to the solo record. The album is a deeply personal invasion into Emily’s head. She deals with demons both personal and demons the world is dealing with, as shown in the powerfully haunting first single “Doctor Blind.” Emily attacks the obsession our society seems to have with prescriptions. Other tracks deal with her observation at Metric shows and being on tour constantly, as heard on “Crowd Surf off a Cliff.” Every Metric and Emily record seems to need a long slow track, and while the album is a vast departure from Metric, this song seems to be this Albums “Empty.” Despite the ever-changing subject matter of the record, on thing remains consistent the whole way through, Emily’s haunting vocal ability and a sense of optimistic pessimism. The record is solid through and through, and although it may take a few listens to fully grow on you, it may be the best album so far this year. 4.5/5

This is the solo effort from Metric's Emily Haines. It's out September 26th. Can't wait for it ;D Very good album. Enjoyable from start to finish. Was surprise since I do not find very much about Metric's music intresting. (they do have some moments with thier lyrics.....but many times they are lost under the music). While along way from the compositions of Carla Bley or Robert Wyatt, or being close to the poetry of her father, a few years down the road, i can see Emily, expanding into the world of more expermental sounds of pop and jazz.
