I know I'm WAY TOO LATE, but I just downloaded the album. I want some reviews to know what you liked and what you didn't like about this fantastic album.
I go first!
The only other Sarah cd I had listened was Surfacing, and while it was good, it never impressed me too much, except "I love you" which is gorgeous. So I had no high expectations for Afterglow. I downloaded Fallen, Stupid and World on fire like 2 months before the album was released and I liked the songs, but deleted them shortly after that. Again, not impressed. Then, I joined this place and noticed many people with Sarah on their charts, and it was cool to know those same songs they were charting Anyway, we fast forward to last week.
I belong to another forum where music is centered mostly on Tori Amos, and some others like Björk, Kate Bush, Dave Matthews Band, PJ Harvey, etc... (almost a heaven! jajajaja) and they have always considered "Fumbling towards ecstasy" as something near as a masterpiece. So I finally said to myself, "You know Ari, you should download something more by Sarah" and I am very glad I did! The chosen song was "Perfect girl"... OH MY GOD!! Superb!!!!! It debuted in my chart las week by the way.
Now, I have all the songs from Afterglow, and it's just like the album I always wanted. Ranging from sad to ... well, some more kinds of sad (in my personal opinion). My favorite tracks are Dirty little secret, Perfect girl, Time, Answer and Stupid. I just can't get enough of it! Of course, the album is not perfect, I would have added at least other 3 or 4 tracks and slowed down a bit more, songs like Train wreck and Drifting. But I am glad I decided to give Sarah another chance. I will try to buy her next studio album when it comes out. I'm so thrilled right now (still)
Anyway, thanks for reading if you did. Now, your opinions?
