I was wondering how many of you allow an artist to have more then 1 song chart at a time?
I usually only allow one, but there are rare instances when an artist will have 2 songs on the chart at the same time and both move up.

There are songs that are growers, what if an artist with a song like that releases it in January for example and you begin to like it in March? By that time, maybe they will be releasing a second single, and would you make the song wait just because you are charting the first single? and what if you like the song more than expected and there is a third single and the first one is still in your chart? Would you make the 3rd single wait until the first one finishes, and then after the second one finishes too? Rules are so useless to me, you should allow as many songs by one artist as you like, it should refelect what you like in those moments. Sorry if that weird example was confusing, if it was, just ignore it

I don't really have a limit for that.. both Darren Hayes and Hilary Duff have had four songs on my chart at the same time. Darren even had them all in the top 12.

I allow an artist to be on with multiple songs, so long as they're singles. Like Usher, for example. He had "Burn", "Yeah!", and "Confessions Pt. II" on at the same time. I let it happen, it doesn't mean much to me. Now, if I decide to let album tracks chart...I won't allow more than one album track on at a time. Maybe an album track and one or two singles, but that's it, I guess.

You make such a CUTE fairy princess, although I think you should consider shaving your legs if you really want a chance at winning the costume contest. Now, as to the topic of your thread here, yes, I allow multiple entries by a single artist. Both Nick Carter and Clay Aiken have charted three tracks at the same time on my chart. Nick pulled it off with "Help Me," "I Stand for You," and "Do I Have to Cry for You?" Clay seconded that hat trick with "Invisible," "When You Say You Love Me," and "Solitaire."

Well, the only holdback for me and charting album tracks is when I buy a new CD, all the songs from it (assuming I like the CD) will enter my chart at the same time, in different positions. Like with Tegan and Sara's album, they probably would have had 5 entries in one week last week, then 4 the next week, then 5 more the week after and all 14 would probably be in my Top 50 right now. It wouldn't really be fun for me to be charting them all because then they'd all rise, peak and fall in the same time frame. I dunno. That's not my charting style. If I was just starting a brand new chart right now, I'd probably do it that way but I don't think I could change how I make my chart in such a sudden move like that. I usually designate songs to be hits in my head. Even if I really like a song, it's usually restricted to me listening to it only when I listen to that artist's CD and nowhere else. Some of the biggest hits for me in 2004 that weren't actually released were 'one of these days' by Michelle Branch, 'on love, in sadness' by Jason Mraz, 'my world' by Avril Lavigne and a bunch of others. Songs like those I treat as singles and listen to in my playlists and stuff as if they were singles. I think because I became a music fan the same time I became a chart fan, it's a natural instinct to have my chart based around released songs but where I am consistantly turning toward full albums and away from radio for my music needs, my chart should probably reflect that as well. I'm thinking of allowing certain album tracks to make my chart soon though. Like the ones above.
