Well, even if I didn't know the song, I think that #1 is pretty obvious.
It was a #1 debut on the Tuned-On chart back in 1998, where it remined for 6 consecutive weeks, and then, instead of allowing it to fall, it was retired with a perfect record.
Bill's #1 song is:
Jeff Buckley - Everybody Here Wants You

Well, even if I didn't know the song, I think that #1 is pretty obvious. It was a #1 debut on the Tuned-On chart back in 1998, where it remined for 6 consecutive weeks, and then, instead of allowing it to fall, it was retired with a perfect record. Bill's #1 song is: Jeff Buckley - Everybody Here Wants You That's right Dan. I was very touched by Jeff's death in 1997, probably more so than any other performer, because I was just beginning to appreciate his music from his first two CD's ('Live At Sin-é' and 'Grace')and was looking forward to a concert, and then he died. The songs on that CD, 'Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk', otherwise would never have seen the light of day since Jeff didn't like the recording sessions he had with producer Tom Verlaine. That the song is such a beauty, a subtle R&B-influenced ballad, that otherwise would not have been released, warranted a special run on my chart. Because it held on to #1 for so long, I retired it after its 6th appearance (12 weeks). The only other song to last 6 appearances at #1 is "Take A Message" by Remy Shand, also in the Top 10. Jeff would go on to have another #1 on my chart when his live CD Mystery White Boy 95/96 was released in 2000. That song was "Eternal Life", which was #57 in this countdown. If you've never heard Jeff Buckley's music I'll be happy to introduce you (send me a PM if interested). It's kind of bittersweet that my favourite song of the last 7 years was recorded by someone who passed away the year prior. And that's a wrap on my Top 300 for 1998-2004. I'll be posting a page of the entire list on my website within the next few days. Thanks everyone for reading and for listening to the mixes. I thought it was a unique way of counting down the final 100!

It's a great list Bill, and it was fun playing this guessing game!
