30. Silk Sonic SMOKIN' OUT THE WINDOW
One of the two songs to keep the earlier mentioned "One Right Now" out of the #1 spot, the Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak production started off its time on my chart in late 2021. Its three weeks in the #1 spot came in early February.
29. Imagine Dragons f/ J.I.D. ENEMY
Fitting in nicely with the sound they've cultivated for themselves as a Rock act with some Hip-Hop sensibilities, Imagine Dragons had a big hit on their hands with League Of Legends video game anthem, "Enemies." Although I was a little later to the party on this one that some people, I ended up charting it for 24 weeks and taking it all the way to #1 for a two-week stint.
28. Robyn f/ Mapei BUFFALO STANCE
This offbeat but still oddly faithful to the original cover of "Buffalo Stance" by Robyn was recorded with both the blessing and support of original artist, Neneh Cherry. I think I may have been one of only a handful of people - if not the only one - in this online community who charted this one. At any rate, it went no higher than #6 during the 26 weeks it spent on the chart during the spring & summer.
27. Ed Sheeran f/ Lil' Baby 2 STEP
Ed Sheeran has been impressing me with his musical diversity over the past several years. This collabo with rapper, Lil' Baby was a cool yet underrated single from his last album. I made up for the low amount of chart noise it made (in comparison to many of his big hits of the past few years) by placing it on my chart for 25 weeks including two weeks at a peak position of #3.
26. New Kids On The Block f/ Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley, & En Vogue BRING BACK THE TIME
Over the past handful of years, New Kids On The Block have released a handful of collaborative singles, mostly with artists who were popular in the 80s and 90s...claiming they want to work with acts that they've become friendly with over the years. That concept hasn't brought about any huge chart hits for the act, but I've charted a few of those releases, including "80s Baby" and "House Party." "Bring Back The Time" was such a fun tune and the music video which I hope you'll watch above, only added to the experience. In the end, it was on my Top 50 for 26 weeks and got no higher than #4.

25. Megan Thee Stallion f/ Dua Lipa SWEETEST PIE
Also spending 26 weeks on my chart, this neat collaboration between Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa made a big impression on me when released. It made it all the way to #2 for a two-week stay, held out of #1 by the song that holds the #4 spot on this list.
24. Sam Smith LOVE ME MORE
It's really true that sometimes you have to be okay with being single and love yourself enough to take yourself out of a less-than-satisfying or maybe even abusive relationship. For some people, I imagine being single is more scary than being unhappy. Just listen to this Sam Smith song and it may help you feel more empowered to make a change. It spent three weeks at #4 and was on the chart for 25 weeks. I think that's more than enough to bring it to empowerment anthem status.
23. Nicki Minaj SUPER FREAKY GIRL
After taking time off during her first pregnancy, it was so great to have new music from Nicki Minaj in 2022 after the birth of her child. She rode the wave of nostaglia created by the sample in "Super Freaky Girl" of Rick James' early 80s classic, "Super Freak" to the top of the charts...including this one, where it spent three weeks at #1. It hasn't yet fallen off the chart, so that may mean an appearance on the 2023 year end chart. TBD...
22. Muni Long HRS & HRS
For many years, Priscilla Renea toiled as a background singer and hook singer on other artists' records. She even had a string of record deals that never went anywhere...rumored because she wanted to record Rock-oriented or Country-oriented fare rather than R&B. All it took was a name change, an embrace of a Soul vibe...and a little help from TikTok and she had her breakthrough R&B hit. In addition to success on that chart as well as - to a lesser extent - on the mainstream chart, it spent two weeks at #1 on my Top 50 during the stretch of 26 weeks it appeared there.
21. Tiesto f/ Ava Max THE MOTTO
Although I haven't been as ardently on Ava Max's bandwagon as some others, even I couldn't deny this catchy number when it was released in late 2021. It spent a couple weeks on my chart to close out 2021, but ended up peaking at #2 in April 2022 before beginning its descent.
As we get into the Top 20 tomorrow, music on the way from Beyoncé, Lizzo, Doja Cat, and a particularly energetic JT50 hit.

20. Jack Harlow FIRST CLASS
"First Class" is another of the many songs on this list that trades upon the nostlgic feeling created by the song it samples...that being Fergie's 2007 jam, "Glamorous." But I'm not complaining. Jack Harlow put his own spin on the tune about his own journey from obscurity to fame. It went as high as #3 over the summer during the 27 weeks it graced the main chart.
19. Sza I HATE U
I have a soft spot in my heart for artists who blaze their own trail with their music. When it would've been easy to tweak her sound to be more in the vein of Contemporary R&B, singer/songwriter, Sza, instead stood firm on making the type of music she wanted to make and took her sound in a more Alternative R&B direction. And the audiences defintely came to hear what she had to offer. "I Hate U" is just such a quirky-sounding slow jam that's much more about love than hate, despite its title. During the 26 weeks it was on the chart, it got all the way to #2 where it spent two weeks behind the song at #5 on this list.
18. Future f/ Drake & Tems WAIT FOR U
This eclectic-sounding collaboration found Future and Drake working with Nigerian singer/songwriter, Tems, to bring the Afrobeats style to mainstream Hip-Hop and they did it beautifully on this heartfelt tune by an artist more known for bragging than being sensitive. It was at #2 for three weeks behind my #1 song of 2022 which you'll find out the identity of later on, and spent 28 weeks inside the Top 50.
17. Beyoncé SUMMER RENAISSANCE
At first glance, one might think this song would be better suited for a North American release in the spring or summer when warm weather is on the way. Instead, when the Renaissance album dropped near the end of summer, it got a lot of airplay on that same music station I listened to. It was only after really listening to the song and its sample of "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer that I realized the title doesn't refer to the season, but instead the artist. What a fitting tribute! It's still working its way down my personal chart as of this moment, but it peaked at #2 just a few weeks ago.
16. Nicky Youre f/ Dazy SUNROOF
If ever any song personified summer, it's this catchy little ditty that was everywhere as the season turned into fall and beyond. It managed a two week stay at #1 for me in the midst of 27 weeks on the chart.
More of the list will be posted later today!

15. Diplo f/ Miguel DON'T FORGET MY LOVE
A few years ago, Miguel delighted with his Kygo collaboration, "Remind Me To Forget." Proving that R&B and Dance sometimes DO go great together, he teamed up with Diplo for "Don't Forget My Love" and had me singing along for 27 weeks. During that time, it got to the #3 spot but went no higher than that.
14. Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran PERU
In the early days of the Afrobeat sound's ascension to mainstream popularlity, Ed Sheeran helped shepherd its way there by teaming up with Fireboy DML for a reworked version of his hit, "Peru." The end result was not only one of my absolute faves of the year, but it turned into a #1 hit on my chart (for two weeks) that stayed around for 27 weeks.
13. Silk Sonic LOVE'S TRAIN
When Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak got together in 2021 to form the supergroup, Silk Sonic, I had my doubts that they'd be more than just a one-hit wonder with the debut single, "Leave The Door Open." Of course, they ended up releasing five singles from the album...four of which were JT50 hits including this highest ranking song on the 2022 list...a cover of a song released in 1982 by R&B group, Con Funk Shun. Silk Sonic's version was on my Top 50 chart for 29 weeks and got as high as #2.
12. Lizzo 2 BE LOVED (AM I READY?)
"2 Be Loved (Am I Ready?)" was released as the follow-up single to the huge hit, "About Damn Time." Following up a hit that big is no easy task and even though it's catchy as hell and should've been a bigger hit than it was on the industry charts. On MY chart, which is the only chart that matters at this moment, it spent three weeks at #1 in late October/early November and is still dropping down the Top 50.
11. City Girls f/ Usher GOOD LOVE
"Good Love" is another Hip-Hop entry that bucked the trend of Trap music to provide a sound that is much more in line with the popular Bass music trend of the late 90s and early 2000s. It's only appropriate that a duo from Miami would attempt to return to prominence a sound that got its start in the Sunshine State. It's still on my chart, but a couple months ago, it topped out at #2, making it the highest ranking song on this list to not get to #1.
Tomorrow, the reveal of my top songs of 2022 will conclude with Beyoncé, Post Malone, Lizzo, Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat, and more...including a song that I found out the hard way is NOT about Betty and Barney's kid on The Flintstones.

10. Latto BIG ENERGY
Hands down, "Big Energy" was a huge anthem in 2022...unlikely enough making its way from Hip-Hop hit to Pop breakthrough success story for Latto on the strength of a sample of the early 80s classic "Genius Of Love" by Talking Heads offshoot, Tom Tom Club. "Genius Of Love" was also memorably sampled in 1995 by Mariah Carey on her hit, "Fantasy." A remix of Big Energy even featured added vocals by Mariah herself, helping to capitalize on the nostalgia and popularity of it all. "Big Energy" spent a few weeks on my chart in 2021, so its performance on this list was hindered somewhat. However, it held the #1 spot on my Top 50 for two weeks. If it got to #10 on this list with so much time cut off, I wonder how high it would've been on this list if its entire run had been within calendar year 2022.
9. Doja Cat VEGAS
"Vegas" was included on the soundtrack to the movie, Elvis, the somewhat ficitonalized biopic of the life of Elvis Presley and sampled Big Mama Thornton's original version of "Hound Dog," a song eventually made popular by Presley himself. It proved to be another in a string of hits released by Doja Cat. It was a big performer on my chart in addition to tons of others. While it's still on my chart now, managed to spend three weeks in the top spot before starting its slide downward.
8. Camila Cabello & Ed Sheeran BAM BAM
Although "Bam Bam" would probably be referred to as a hit, its overall commercial performance in the U.S. was certainly not extraordinary. However, I feel confident in saying that on my chart it outperformed its commercial success, spending 30 weeks within the Top 50 and holding #1 for two weeks. Needless to say I was pretty crazy about this one in the spring and summer months.
7. Ed Sheeran OVERPASS GRAFFITI
"Overpass Graffiti" spent a few weeks on my Top 50 in late 2021 before segueing into 2022 to spend several more weeks on the chart. It was released as a single between the two hits, "Shivers" and "2 Step," but unlike those two, it was NOT a hit on the charts, which is a shame, because it's one of my absolute favorites of the entire year, as evidenced by the two weeks it was in the #1 spot. If I weren't ranking this list based on points from chart position, it would likely be in the Top 3 and might be in serious competition for the #1 spot. I like it THAT much.
6. Beyoncé BREAK MY SOUL
It wasn't just that I'm a fan of Beyoncé. It wasn't just that it was the first single from the first album full of new music she'd released in roughly six years. It wasn't just that it was released at a time when I was absolutely and thoroughly miserable - mostly because of my job. It was all of those things combined that contributed to "Break My Soul" becoming a juggernaut on the JT50. Although it's close to falling off, it hasn't left the Top 50 yet. As of this week, it's at 28 weeks and counting, including three weeks holding the #1 spot.
More to come later today. By this evening, the entire list will be complete.

5. Doja Cat WOMAN
With the seductive "Woman," Doja Cat tapped into the lure of the Afrobeats sound before many mainstream music fans knew that it was on its way to becoming a thing. Not only is it a special song, it's just another of the many hits this truly prolific hitmaking artist brought to us in 2022. In fact, it's the first of three songs in the Top 5 that include her as either a main artist or a contributing artist. "Woman" also has the distinction of being the highest song on my 2022 year end list to begin its chart run in 2021, where it spent a few weeks. But by late February, it had spent two weeks in the #1 spot on this chart.
4. The Weeknd OUT OF TIME
As a single release from The Weeknd's latest album, Dawn FM, "Out Of Time" sounded a little bit different than anything we've heard from him so far. It wasn't dark and brooding, nor did it have a distinctinve EDM sound like his Swedish House Mafia or Daft Punk productions. Maybe it somewhat resembled his breezy 2015 jam, "Can't Feel My Face," but even then it wasn't a close resemblance. I was really into this one, perhaps more than its performance on the mainstream industry charts indicated the public was. After all was said and done, it had stayed in the #1 spot for three of the 30 weeks it lingered in my Top 50.
3. Post Malone f/ Doja Cat I LIKE YOU (A HAPPIER SONG)
Turning out to be the biggest hit from Post Malone's latest album, "I Like You (A Happier Song)" has also been a big favorite of mine. The collaboration with Doja Cat is still on my Top 50...even though it's close to falling out. As of this week, it has spent 29 weeks on the chart and that includes two weeks at #1.
The Top 2 coming up shortly...

2. Doja Cat GET INTO IT (YUH)
I first got to know this song before it was even released as a single when it was used in one of series of offbeat TV commercials for Taco Bell. It seemed only inevitable that it would eventually get released as a single...and that was proven to be true over the summer. Finding success commercially, it also found lots of success on my chart, culminating in a three-week stint at #1 that took place during 32 weeks it spent on the chart.
and #1 is...
1. Lizzo ABOUT DAMN TIME
Of all the things that can be said about "About Damn Time," let me start off by saying that it wasn't even close. The gap between this song and the song that came in at #2 on this list was 114 points. Hands down, no contest, this was THE song of 2022 for me. I wouldn't necessarily call it my anthem for the year. Maybe it's more the anthem for what I wish my life WAS in 2022. Maybe it's something for me to aspire to. If only I could be as free and as fearless to go after what I want as Lizzo portrays in the song. But maybe someday. Unsurprisingly, it spent time at #1 on my personal chart - four weeks, to be exact - and fell off of the Top 50 just a few weeks ago after an incredible 34-week run. All hail the best song of 2022, according to my weekly personal chart rankings!
Thanks for reading. See you this time next year!
