Limo Wreck is an amazing discovery #7 could possibly be one of my favourites. Great set Jess!

Can't really argue with either of those, especially Limo Wreck 7 has to be Slaves & Bulldozers.

Oops, I forgot to give a hint for #6. Meh. 8. Soundgarden - "Room A Thousand Years Wide" (1991)When I first listened to Badmotorfinger, this was IMMEDIATELY a highlight and has since become one of my most played songs from them. I even compared this to something Skid Row would've done on their Slave To The Grind album, which definitely says something given that album is a HUGE favorite of mine - although these days definitely not as much of a favorite as Badmotorfinger. This is probably my favorite performance of this song: 7. Soundgarden – “Slaves & Bulldozers” (1991)Arguably the song that started Cornellmania for me - I say arguably because there had been something brewing for awhile, between discovering "Blow Up The Outside World" in January 2017, calling "I Am The Highway" the "only highlight" of the 2017 Book Club Alumni episode, and the entire Superunknown Book Club. Every episode of the show that involved Soundgarden and/or Audioslave in some way pretty much led up to that plot twist final verdict from the Louder Than Love episode last month. As Unkie and Pipa love to constantly point out, I did actually hear this song once or twice before I Book Clubbed it, but it was one of those cases where I wasn't really completely paying attention to it. When I played Badmotorfinger for the first time, I was cleaning and getting the apartment ready for Pipa who was going to visit me that weekend, and I had to stop everything I was doing when this came on and just sat there and listened. HOLY f*ck is this song good. It's SUPER heavy and this is one of Chris' best vocal performances ever. It's like Harry Chapin's "Sniper" in that yes, it's a long song, but it doesn't feel that long because it draws you in and there's a lot going on. It doesn't drag on like a certain boring ass Gordon Lightfoot song from 1976. There's also been so many great performances of this song. Something Chris did a lot when performing this song is in the middle of it he'd start singing another song - sadly the most well-known time he did this was the last time he performed this song when he started singing Led Zeppelin's "In My Time Of Dying" , but he's also sung Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the Doobie Brothers' "Jesus Is Just Alright", and in my favorite performance of this song, from their 1992 home video Motorvision, Pearl Jam's "Alive": 6. Soundgarden – “4th Of July” (1994)This is the highest ranked album track, which means everything in the top five was released as a single. Those who are in the Skype chat are probably not surprised in the slightest that I ranked this one so high as ever since I discovered Superunknown, I have not shut the f*ck up about how much I love this song. It has that dark, heavy, haunting sound to it that I've always been drawn to. And I LOVE the way Chris sings this one too. Ugh I could listen to him and his voice all day! ❤️❤️❤️ All of a sudden Mariah Carey's song of the same name just doesn't sound as good to me anymore... UP NEXT: 5. Back in late March, I ranked this song - one of their most well-known - as my fourth favorite Book Club discovery ever.

5. Soundgarden – “Rusty Cage” (1991)This is the highest appearance from Badmotorfinger. When I heard this for the first time two years ago I liked it a lot, but it wasn't until one day about a year later when I heard it on M4B Radio when it really began clicking with me. I love how fast and heavy this song is, just everything about it is badass. A couple of months ago I ranked it as my fourth favorite song I've ever discovered on The Book Club, but honestly, I'd argue now that it could be #1. And I love the video for this, it's soooo early 90's! UP NEXT: 4. Yet another Soundgarden song I was very late on, despite being one of their most well known songs ever (ironically from an album called Superunknown), I heard this for the first time back in 2013.

4. Soundgarden – “Fell On Black Days” (1994)
I don't remember how I discovered this one, but it was back in March 2013 when I was still going through a really bad depression. My reaction to this was actually pretty similar to when I first discovered "Black Hole Sun" eight years earlier - I instantly loved it and played it quite a bit during this time (although definitely not as much as I listened to BHS back in 2005). As much as I LOVE when he hits the high notes, I also absolutely love when he sings quiet like he does in the verses of this song. Also, I don't pay attention to lyrics most of the time to be completely honest, but I did recently find out that this song was about depression, so it's like even back then it feels like Chris was speaking to me. Amazing song, don't think I could get sick of this even if I tried.

So far, the top 5 is classic after classic "Fell On Black Days" has always been one of my favourite Soundgarden songs in particular. So the top 3 has to be Hunger Strike, Black Hole Sun and Blow Up The Outside World... but in what order?

Fell On Black Days is a great song, but they have others I enjoy more. Looks like Blow Up The Outside World is next!

3. Soundgarden – “Blow Up The Outside World” (1996)I'm about to pull a @wife here, but I first heard this song on January 6, 2017. I saw the video for it on MTV Classic and knew right away it was Soundgarden because I recognized Chris, but was surprised I never heard the song before. I LOVED this IMMEDIATELY! The verses are very mellow and Beatles-influenced, and then it builds up to that heavy chorus. The video is excellent as well (although to be fair, any video that has Chris in it is awesome to me). I'd say this is the song that really started getting me to pay more attention to them and discovering this started the natural progression from casual fan to core artists that a lot of you got to hear over the last two years on The Book Club. Great song, iconic as f*ck, your faves could never, etc. Oh, and apparently this song is a favorite of Baby Shark's

One of Chris' absolute best vocal performances. A classic.

It was an EXTREMELY close race between these two, these have been my top 2 Chris songs since 2006 and I kept switching the two of them throughout this entire countdown, but this is my final top two and I'm sticking with it! 2. Temple Of The Dog – “Hunger Strike” (1990)What's better than hearing Chris Cornell sing? Chris Cornell sing with Eddie Vedder! This was the world's introduction to Eddie and damn what an introduction it was. I've absolutely loved this one since I first discovered it in 2006. These two sound so good together!!! Also, I know I've said this like 20 million times already, but HOW FREAKING GORGEOUS does Chris look in this video?? Ugh so beautiful!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 I also really love this performance they did in 1992 (two days before I was born! ): 1. Soundgarden – “Black Hole Sun” (1994)Excellent song. One of my favorites of all-time. ;D As much as I loved this song even back then, I don't think 13 year old me had a clue how much this song and Chris would end up impacting me. Hell, I doubt 13 year old me would ever think I'd make this list!
I heard this for the first time around the fall of 2005 on my Yahoo LAUNCH station, right around the time I started getting into a lot of 90's alternative and grunge music. This was also around the same time I started getting into Nirvana and Pearl Jam. I feel like 2005 and 2006 were two years of my life that really helped shape my music tastes, as I expanded my horizons outside of Madonna's ass and discovered so much great rock music that just a year or two earlier I wouldn't have touched with a 10-foot pole. And I still remember what I said to myself the first time I heard this: "Wait, the guy from Audioslave was in another band?" Upon first listen, I absolutely LOVED this. It had everything that I was drawn to at that time - it was heavy, it was dark, it was aggressive, it had amazing vocals of course 😍. I just remember in late 2005 and early 2006 there were a lot of 90's alt songs that I played the crap out of and one of them was this. I used to lock myself in my room and make my parents believe I was doing my homework when I was really just blasting this on my MP3 player. I also believe I was playing this a lot on Variety FM around this time as well. I know a lot of people find the video to be disturbing, but it actually doesn't bother me at all which is strange because I get scared easily. I can watch creepy smiling faces, Barbie dolls getting burned on a barbecue, and a girl who doesn't know how to drink milk if it also means getting to watch MY CHRIS 😍😍😍😍😍. And the funny thing is, despite playing the crap out of this (and "Hunger Strike" as well) over the years, I NEVER got sick of either of them. To me this sounds just as amazing today as it did for me back in 2005. It still boggles my mind that despite how obsessed I was with this song, Chris never became a core artist for me until - well - a month ago. And he has quickly made a huge impact on me and has helped me through a lot of crap I've been going through over the last few months. Honestly, this is the strongest I have felt about an artist since Grace. I absolutely adore everything about him - his voice, his music, his looks, his sense of humor, his personality, his live performances. I don't give a f*ck how annoying or repetitive I may sound, I mean it's not like I was quiet and reserved during any of my other artist obsessions - I'm a Cornellaholic and I'm proud! I know everyone and their Mom has referenced this line since Chris passed away, but it's so true (and I was even having a conversation with Unkie a few days ago about how it's easier for record companies to produce a million mumble rappers who all sound the same then to recreate another Chris Cornell, because there will NEVER be another Chris Cornell): "No one sings like you anymore."

I truly believe BHS is the best song of the 90s, I too have never gotten sick of it. Amazing list Jess!

Can't argue with that top 2 "Black Hole Sun" is definitely a classic, always enjoyed it since it came out and it just shows how much of an impact it's had on your life that it's your #1 from him And of course, "Hunger Strike"... what's not to like about 2 of the greatest grunge frontmen teaming up?
