10 – 7

| Luke Sital-Singh – Killing me
Points: 1914.4 Peak: #1 (1) Weeks: 30 Album: Time is a riddle Airplay: #8 Chart Debut: December 30, 2017 First week at #1: March 3, 2018 Writer(s): Luke Sital-Singh Producer(s): Luke Sital-Singh, Tommy McLaughlin
British singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh really can celebrate his success on my chart. “Killing me” isn’t only his highest ranked song in this review it is also his first Top 10 hit in a year-end review. Since I started charting him with his debut album and his 2017 follow up he reached for four times the top spot. “Killing me” is from his 2017 album “Time is a riddle” which had two #1 hits so far.

| Kate Voegele – Bad bad drug
Points: 1917.3 Peak: #2 Weeks: 29 Album: Canyonlands Airplay: #7 Chart Debut: January 13, 2018 First week at #2: March 10, 2018 Writer(s): Kate Voegele Producer(s): Tim Lauer, Jim McGorman, Kate Voegele
Last year Anouk rocked my chart and in the end she had three songs within my year-end Top 10. This year Kate Voegele did the same. She placed two songs from her “Canyonlands” album in my Top 10 and her non-album single “Shoot this arrow”. “Bad bad drug” had become the first song which hadn’t peaked at #1 in my year-end Top 10. That’s absolutely great. 2018 had been definitely her year on my chart.
| 8 | | no success
| Taylor Swift – I did something bad
Points: 2132.9 Peak: #1 (3) Weeks: 28 Album: Reputation Airplay: #9 Chart Debut: June 16, 2018 First week at #1: July 21, 2018 Writer(s): Taylor Swift, Max Martin, Shellback Producer(s): Max Martin, Shellback
For me it all started with her song “Love story”. This song had been the first song by her I listened to in phase I hardly listened to music. Since this time several things changed, but although she left her country roots behind she still has multiple hits on my chart. “I did something bad” is a song from her “Reputation” album which has never been released as a regular single. Therefor this song wasn’t represented well on personal charts. This didn’t bother me and so it reached #1 for three weeks during summer 2018.
| 7 | | no success
| LANY – Thru these tears
Points: 2145.8 Peak: #1 (4) Weeks: 22 (still charting) Album: Malibu nights Airplay: #15 Chart Debut: July 28, 2018 First week at #1: August 11, 2018 Writer(s): Paul Klein, Jacob Goss, Alexandra Yatchenko [Sasha Sloan], Henry Allen Producer(s): LANY, Mike Crossey, King Henry
This part of my chart definitely shows that I give a s**t on what are the big hits. Sure I’m still charting songs which are really big, but most of my songs in my year-end Top 10 are relatively unknown. Also mostly unknown are the US indie pop band LANY. I’ve charted them before their breakout in 2018, but in my eyes “Thru these tears” is their best song so far. Four weeks at #1 shows that this band is going to be an important factor on my chart.

| Norma Jean Martine – Angels on my shoulders
Points: 2229.2 Peak: #1 (1) Weeks: 32 Album: Only in my mind Airplay: #5 Chart Debut: May 19, 2018 First week at #1: July 7, 2018 Writer(s): Joel Pott, Julian Emery, Jim Irvin, Norma Jean Martine Producer(s): Dante Supple, Joel Pott
At #6 you can find the last song by Norma Jean Martine in this year’s countdown. “Angels on my shoulders” had been an album cut from her debut album “Only in my mind”. This song has become her second #1 on my chart. As her debut has been released back late in 2016 I’m actually waiting for the follow up album which I hope will be released this year.

Kate Voegele – Shoot this arrow
Points: 2309.1 Peak: #1 (3) Weeks: 32 Album: - Airplay: #4 Chart Debut December 23, 2017 First week at #1: Februar 3, 2018 Writer(s): Kate Voegele
Here she is again. This time Kate Voegele returns in this countdown with her song “Shoot this arrow” against sexual harassment. This song was released late in 2017 and reached my top spot in February. “Shoot this arrow” stayed for three weeks at the top and for 32 weeks. This song is her 2nd best song in this year’s year-end review.
| 4 | | #71 #46 #38 #10 | Kylie Minogue – Dancing
Points: 2378.9 Peak: #1 (4) Weeks: 28 weeks Album: Golden Airplay: #2 Chart Debut February 3, 2018 First week at #1: March 10, 2018 Writer(s): Kylie Minogue, Steven McEwan, Nathan Chapman Producer(s): Sky Adams
Kate Voegele is followed by another multiple chart topping female singer. “Dancing” had been the first #1 for Kylie Minogue on my chart. This country pop song (maybe more pop than country) reached the top after a month and stayed for four weeks. As “Shoot this arrow” is Kate Voegele’s 2nd best song in 2018 “Dancing” is Kylie Minogue’s 2nd best song in this countdown with only three spots open.

| Kate Voegele – Not the only one
Points: 2403.7 Peak: #1 (3) Weeks: 35 (still charting) Album: Canyonlands Airplay: #3 Chart Debut: April 28, 2018 First week at #1: June 23, 2016 Writer(s): Kate Voegele Producer(s): Tim Lauer, Jim McGorman, Kate Voegele
The first secret is exposed. Kate Voegele has made my Top 3 and “Not the only one” reached #3. Since years Kate Voegele is among my core artists and this time she started another the run to finally reach my year-end #1 or at least my Top 3. With “Not the only one” she entered my Top 3, but once more she failed to reach the #1 spot. “Not the only one” is one of my favourite songs out of her “Canyonlands” album and if there hadn’t been to regular singles which did better in 2018 this non-album song could have reached #1.
| 2 | | #2 #32 #35
| Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueso – Zusammen
Points: 2543.9 Peak: #1 (4) Weeks: 27 Airplay: #6 Album: Captain Fantastic Chart Debut: March 31, 2018 First week at #1: April 7, 2018 Writer(s): Andreas Rieke, Michael B. Schmidt, Thomas Dürr, Michael DJ Beck, Thomas Burchia, Samy Sorge, Michael Kurth, Conrad Hensel, Florian Renner, Ricco Schoenebeck, Toni Oliver Schoenebeck Producer(s): DJ Thomilla, Conrad Hensel, Hitnapperz
Last year with Wincent Weiss’ “Nur einen Herzschlag entfernt” (“Only a heartbeat away”) for the first time a song in German reached my year-end #1. In 2018 it looked for some time that Die Fantastischen Vier and Clueso are also reaching #1 with the German song “Zusammen” (“Together”). In Germany this song was very often played during the soccer world cup in Russia. I personally love this song although some people say that this song is neither the best song by Die Fantastischen Vier nor by Clueso. For me this doesn’t matter, because most of their songs disappointed me over the last years, but not this one.
| 1 | | #52
| Kylie Minogue – Stop me from falling
Points: 3097.6 Peak: #1 (6) Weeks: 41 (still charting) Airplay: #1 Album: Golden Chart Debut: March 17, 2018 First week at #1: May 12, 2018 Writer(s): Kylie Minogue, Steven McEwan, Sky Adams, Danny Shah Producer(s): Sky Adams
In the end it become a solo run at the #1 for Kylie Minogue. “Stop me from falling” has more than 500 points than “Zusammen” and stayed more than 10 weeks longer on my chart than the German song by Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueseo. At first it seemed that “Stop me from falling” can’t repeat the “Dancing” success, but after two months (in its 9th week) this song reached #1. Normally a song only gets one or two weeks at the top when reaching #1 so late, but not this time. As a late bloomer “Stop me from falling” topped my chart for six (!) weeks. No other song in 2018 did that. So it became clear for me that this song had to be outperformed for my year-end #1, but no other song had a chance in 2018. “Stop me from falling” is also my airplay #1 with nearly 30 plays more than the 2nd most played song in 2018. |

Good to see not one, not two, but THREE Kate Voegele songs in your top 10! "Not The Only One" and "Shoot This Arrow" swapped places from my own year-end chart. Good to see the two Kylie songs high up too, her latest album was her best in a long time

How amazing to see Kylie take out the win! AMAZING! I'm really hoping she does a surprise appearance at Mardi Gras next week (which she has been known to do in the past) because I will go crazy if she does. I missed out on a ticket to her tour in a few months time, but I did get another ticket to LANY! Can't wait for that one. So good to see them here also. I find it crazy that "One More Red Light" didn't have any worldwide chart success, when it's in it's 24TH week at #1 on the M4BCC Country GlobalChart Just goes to show that WE have better taste than the rest of the world does hehe. Great to see Kate, Norma, Luke, Taylor and Jekky getting great results also. A great list!
