In 20 years, I've only had eight, and even then a couple of them aren't full cover versions!
2004: Sway (Ralphi's Salsation vox edit) by Michael Buble (I believe Dean Martin did the original) 2005: MJB Da VIP by Mary J. Blige featuring The Game (incorporates melody and vocals from Hate It Or Love It by The Game) 2005: My My My by Armand Van Helden (incorporates a sped up sample of Gary Wright's 1981 album track Comin' Apart) 2006: Thunder In My Heart Again by Meck featuring Leo Sayer (rework of Leo's 1977 hit Thunder In My Heart) 2006: Watchin' by Freemasons featuring Amanda Wilson (incorporates repeated verses from Deborah Cox's It's Over Now) 2006: I Want You To Want Me by Chris Isaak (Cheap Trick) 2013: Lifted by Kwik Fiks & Bongiovanni (incorporates repeated verses from Suga Suga by Baby Bash featuring Frankie J) 2017: Fill Me In (Something To Say) by Loud Luxury & Ryan Shepherd (a pitched down cover of Craig David's Fill Me In)

It's hard for me to determine for myself what qualifies since I've charted a number of No. 1 songs that were covers but I didn't know the originals (ex: Night's "Hot Summer Nights" and Michael Johnson's "This Night Won't Last Forever"), some where the originals predated my chart (ex: Juice Newton's "Angel of the Morning") and others where I knew the originals but they didn't chart (like Cher's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)"). I wouldn't be surprised if I left something out for these reasons. I’m going to define No. 1 cover versions on my chart as songs that I knew were cover versions because I had heard the original before (even if the original never charted for me). In parentheses, the version I was familiar with when the cover version went to No. 1. Here they are in order of charting:
1. "Somewhere in the Night," Barry Manilow (Helen Reddy) 2. "Yes, I'm Ready," Teri DeSario with K.C. (Barbara Mason) 3. "Angel of the Morning," Juice Newton (Merrilee Rush) 4. "You Can't Hurry Love," Phil Collins (The Supremes) 5. "Always Something There to Remind Me," Naked Eyes (Dionne Warwick) 6. "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On," Robert Palmer (Cherrelle) 7. "War (What Is It Good For?) (Live)," Bruce Springsteen (Edwin Starr) 8. "Pink Cadillac (LP Version)," Natalie Cole (Bruce Springsteen) 9. "Ain't No Woman (Like the One I've Got)," Johnny Mathis (The Four Tops) 10. "A Groovy Kind of Love," Phil Collins (The Mindbenders) 11. "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," Al Green/Annie Lennox (Jackie DeShannon) 12. "Love Won't Let Me Wait," Luther Vandross (Major Harris) 13. "Best of My Love," Phoebe Snow (The Emotions) 14. "If You Don't Know Me by Now," Simply Red (Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes) 15. "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?" Michael Bolton (Laura Branigan) 16. "I'll Be Good to You," Quincy Jones, Ray Charles and Chaka Khan (Brothers Johnson) 17. "This Old Heart of Mine," Rod Stewart/Ronald Isley (Isley Brothers) 18. "If You Were My Woman," George Michael (Gladys Knight and the Pips, as “If I Were Your Woman”) 19. "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)," UB40 (Al Green) 20. "I'll Be There," Mariah Carey (Jackson Five) 21. "I Will Always Love You," Whitney Houston (Dolly Parton) 22. "Somebody to Love," George Michael and Queen (Queen) 23. "Can't Help Falling in Love," UB40 (Elvis Presley) 24. "Without You," Mariah Carey (Nilsson) 25. "The Power of Love," Celine Dion (Jennifer Rush) 26. "Go West," Pet Shop Boys (Village People) 27. "Rainy Night in Georgia," Sam Moore/Conway Twitty (Brook Benton) 28. "Reflections," Luther Vandross (The Supremes) 29. "Train in Vain (Stand by Me)," Annie Lennox (The Clash) 30. "Love TKO/Could It Be I'm Falling in Love?" Regina Belle (Teddy Pendergrass/The Spinners) 31. “Hard to Say I'm Sorry," Az Yet (Chicago) 32. "As," George Michael/Mary J. Blige (Stevie Wonder) 33. "Everything I Do (I Do It for You)," Brandy (Bryan Adams) 34. "The Heart of the Matter," India.Arie (Don Henley) 35. "In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning," Barbra Streisand (Frank Sinatra) 36.
