That leaves 162, 161 and 154.
Both of the two subsequent hits for the band at 162 are "Bengino", and thus eligible for this list, but neither made it. The ninth word in the above sentence is particularly relevant.
For 161, both the Canadian band and the American band in question have names consisting of 10 letters, 6 of which are the same (hence the confusion when their debut singles were charting simultaneously).
The follow-up song described in my previous clue for 154 featured a Jamaican artist whose discography started in the "Bengino" era.

161. Simple Plan - I'd Do Anything Not quite; that one is going to be much higher, as I like Simple Plan much more than either the Canadian band in question, or the similarly-named American band. Both pre-date I'd Do Anything by approximately a year.

On to the next set of clues, for the songs to be revealed on Friday, July 13:
153. This was actually the third, and not second, Pop top 50 hit for this band. They had a very minor hit between their debut, a Pop #1, and this, a Pop #2 whose title doesn't really make grammatical sense.
152. Strangely for the rap genre, this song's title doesn't appear in its lyrics, and moreover, its chorus contains more than a few nonsense syllables.
151. This British girl group had a huge following on M4B, even after the Bengino era evolved into the Seb era, but this remains their only US Pop hit.
150. This Pop #1 was featured on the soundtrack to a semi-autobiographical film about the artist in question.
149. One-hit pop/rock band named after a fictional character in a 1986 comedy film.
148. The debut solo single for a former boyband member who had a pop top 20 as recently as this year.
147. After this song, she was widely written off as a one-hit wonder for the remainder of the Bengino era, but had a top 20 single again in 2007.
146. The debut single, and only #1, by a female singer born in Milford, Pennsylvania.
145. Canadian one-hit female artist from the very tail-end of the Bengino era.
144. The peak Pop position and year of Alice Deejay's "Better Off Alone".
143. The second Pop hit by a Brooklyn rapper who, in spite of his legal last name, isn't related to a much more famous family of R&B musicians.
142. This Australian band had two Pop hits, which peaked exactly one year apart to the day.
141. This song's lyrics mention the names of 3 deceased singers: 2 of them died before I was born, but the third was still alive at the time of this song's release.
140. An earlier hit by the only artist in the previous set whose entry DNCed on Pop.
139. The first of five Pop #1's by a pop-rapper whose discography has spanned over 17 years.
138. This song had two Pop chart runs, the first of which was even pre-Bengino and resulted in a #47 peak; 17 months later, it made top 10.
137. The song by the American band which I referenced in my clue to #161 earlier.

That leaves 149 and 152.
The fictional character in my earlier clue for 149 was played by Jeffrey Jones.
The artist at 152 had her last Pop hit right after the Bengino era ended.
