• Leann Rimes reached the Top 40 for the first time since she took Life Goes On to #31 in 2002. Her biggest hit was the #2 peaking Can’t Fight The Moonlight. Leann’s latest single is a cover of one of the biggest ShufflePlay songs of the 2000s, the #1 song The Story by Brandi Carlile, which hit #1 for four weeks in 2007, spent 32 weeks in the Top 40 and an entire year in the Top 100. That song was Brandi’s first of four #1 hits and 35 chart entries.
• When Years & Years returned to the chart last week at the very top, they joined a very select group of artists in the record books by earning four #1 songs from a single album. The list contains just seven albums since this chart’s inception in 1998.
- Back in 1998/99, Alanis Morissette’s album Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie became the first CD to chart four #1s with Thank U, Joining You, Unsent, and So Pure.
- A year later, in 1999-2000, Chantal Kreviazuk followed suit with her second album, Colour Moving And Still, which earned her four #1s: Before You, Dear Life, Souls, and Far Away.
- In 2004, Avril Lavigne’s second record Under My Skin netted her four chart toppers: Don’t Tell Me, My Happy Ending, record-breaker Nobody’s Home, and Fall To Pieces.
- A year after that, then-newcomer KT Tunstall took four singles from her debut album Eye To The Telescope to #1, Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, Under The Weather, Suddenly I See, and Other Side Of The World.
- A six year gap occurred when in 2011, Lady Gaga exploded with her album Born This Way, tying the four-way tie with singles Born This Way, Judas, The Edge Of Glory, and You And I, before passing it with a record-breaking fifth #1 from the record, Marry The Night.
- fun. became the first artist led by a male to join this exclusive club with four singles from Some Nights reaching the top, We Are Young, Some Nights, Carry On and Why Am I The One.
- And now, Years & Years are part of it as well. Communion’s first single King, hit #1 last summer. It was eventually followed by three more chart-toppers, Shine, Eyes Shut and now Worship.
