Ten years ago, this day, Green Day released their seventh studio album, American Idiot, and the rest was history. After the commercially and critically disappointing Warning, American Idiot revitalized their popularity, spearheading the anti-George Bush movement and gaining airplay all across the nation. Spawning five singles, American Idiot shot Green Day back to the top of the punk plateau, cementing themselves with one of the greatest albums of the 2000s. How did this album affect you? For me, this was the first album that I ever loved, even if I was only 4 when it came out. I discovered it one day and I soon memorized every word, every line, every riff. 1. American Idiot 2. Jesus of Suburbia I. Jesus of Suburbia II. City of the Damned III. I Don't Care IV. Dearly Beloved V. Tales of Another Broken Home 3. Holiday 4. Boulevard of Broken Dreams 5. Are We the Waiting 6. St. Jimmy 7. Give Me Novacaine 8. She's a Rebel 9. Extraordinary Girl 10. Letterbomb 11. Wake Me Up When September Ends 12. Homecoming I. The Death of St. Jimmy II. East 12th St. III. Nobody Likes You IV. Rock and Roll Girlfriend V. We're Coming Home Again 13. Whatsername

For someone who liked them in the 90's, this album was horrendous as well as everything they have released since then. Sorry. But hey! I still can jam to When I Come Around or Dookie lol

For a second I thought the title said American Idol. "American Idiot" is definitely one of the greatest albums of all time, and the album that propelled Green Day into legends.

What a great album. They helped get me into rock music. "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" is one of my all-time favorite songs.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since "American Idiot" came out! Definitely one of my favorite rock albums; "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" went #1 for me for 4 weeks, while "Holiday" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" both went top 10.

I'm shocked it's been 10 years also. I didn't mind 'Warning' at all either, but yes this was a good album.

Good album! I wouldn't go so far as great though. There are strong singles, but I don't feel the album as a whole package is worthy of a 10-year celebration. This isn't exactly in the same league as "Dookie". I have been a Green Day fan since the early 90s. I liked them before Woodstock, but their Woodstock performance propelled them into superstardom not this album. This album marked a return to mainstream pop radio for them, but nothing more in my humble opinion. I can see how someone coming across this album could fall in love with it though!
