Looks awesome indeed!! But as much as I love Sleeps With Butterflies, if she releases some schmaltzy song like that as a lead single.... I will love it, but would be annoyed ajajajajjaja

If she puts out another song like "Big Wheel", I am throwing my laptop out the window.

Thoughts on the album?
I got it last week. Listened once so far and nothing jumped out at me but I know she's a multiple-listens kind of artist so I'm going to try to dig in before I write a review for it.

Listened on Spotify. Not bad, definitely an improvement, but nothing wowed me. At this point I think Tori's days of being a core JessieLou artist are over.

We should move this thread since it's been released. I listened to this album 4 or 5 times over the weekend in order to be able to come up with something for my review .... which is definitely longer than most reviews I write. www.themaxonline.net/2014/06/02/tori-amos-unrepentant-geraldines/To sum up my review, I like the album. First of all, it's only (lol) 14 songs long, which is her shortest non-classical/holiday album in over a decade, so it is definitely more manageable. It took a few listens but I started to warm up to a few songs along the way. Promise is probably my favourite because it features Tori's daughter who has a fantastic voice. I also really like 16 Shades of Blue. I don't care for Giant's Rolling Pin and Unrepentant Geraldines is too redundant for me. The rest of the album is middle of the road. Wild Way is a nice track and I am enjoying Trouble's Lament. I don't know if it'll be a repeat listen for me in the way Scarlet's Walk is every Autumn but of her albums released since that one, I think this one is her best.

I loved your review Max! You know, minus this or that, but very well written! To me, this is a true return to form! I absolutely adored Night of Hunters and Abnormally Attracted To Sin, plus, The Beekeeper was super! But Unrepentant Geraldines has to be her best album since Strange Little Girls! I just wish it had some more darkness in it. There are 3 songs that while I not hate, so far are the ones I skip: Wedding Day, Selkie and Unrepentant Geraldines. A little different with reviewers over the internet, I don't find Oysters to be anything particularly brilliant. My favorites are Wild Way, Promise and Weatherman. I remember thinking Midwinter Graces was a return to form, but if it had been, I'd still be praising it and I can only listen like 3 or 4 songs from it all through the year. The album, yes, is a bit on the slow side, but I love that. The video for Trouble's Lament, is the best (EASILY!!!!) since Big Wheel (UGGHHHHHH!!!!!!) I can't comment on the artwork, cause being Tori, I will buy this, but so far I haven't I am 100% happy with this release and I can only hope this kinda redeems her as a serious songwriter. You know, after stuff like "I'm a MILF" and that hideous song about something about "Pink" in her Midwinter Graces, the new stuff really paints her as a mature, grounded and as usual, prolific writer. One of these years, she will be eligible for induction into the Rock Hall or Fame, right? She needs to be there!

This is my first Tori album since Abnormally Attracted To Sin and while I liked a few songs from that one, I never got into it because it was just too long. I was able to get into most of Scarlet's Walk but 4 super long albums in a row, I was tiring out on that being her thing. I didn't realize most reviewers had been saying the same thing. But that was really my biggest qualm with her albums. I know 14 songs isn't that different from 17 but it made a big difference for me when exploring this album.
I love Promise! It's official. And I super love 16 Shades of Blue. Both are awesome and probably my favourite Tori songs since Taxi Ride/Strange/A Sorta Fairytale. Trouble's Lament I really like too. The music reminds me of like 19th century victorian houses in southern US for some reason. lol.

I was shocked to hear that at first.....but not so much when, after going through my iTunes earlier today, I realized I hadn't listened to "Shoop" since July 24, 2013 or "Don't Cha" since July 8, 2013.
