Registration for the M4BCC Song Contest 2013 and voting on whether or not to use weekly themes is done! The verdict is in... We will NOT be using weekly themes in this edition of the M4BCC Song Contest. Below are the rules for the M4BCC Song Contest 2013:
- Starting right now, each participant will submit two songs to me by Private Message (PM) for inclusion in that week's round of the Song Contest: One song will be the song you want to represent you in this week's round. The second song will be your elimination song. Both songs MUST be songs that were not released anywhere in the world as commercial singles. You CAN submit a promotional single as your competition song, but in order for it to be eligible, it must NOT have appeared inside the Top 100 on any country or region's official chart (ie. the Billboard Hot 100, the UK Singles Chart, the Canadian Hot 100, etc). For example, if you wanted to submit a Justin Timberlake song from his most recent album, you couldn't submit "Mirrors" or "Suit & Tie" (or the promotional single, "Pusher Love Girl," since it peaked at #64 in the U.S.), but you COULD submit "That Girl" or "Don't Hold The Wall," as they were considered "promotional singles," but didn't appear on any country or region's official chart. Your elimination song MUST be an album or un-released (non-single) track.
- When you submit your songs to me, you only need to provide the title and artist. I will track down YouTube clips for each of your submissions.
- I'll post YouTube links to each submission in a thread here on M4BCC. Each participant will rank each of the songs (without including their own submission) and send their rankings to me by PM. The voting period will last one week from when the YouTube links are posted. If all votes are received before the week is over, the results will be posted right away instead of waiting for the week to be over.
- Once the voting period is over, the three participants whose songs who have the least amount of votes each week will be up for elimination and move on to the Elimination Round. I will post YouTube links to those three participants' elimination songs. The other participants, will vote on which elimination song they like the best. The three people in the "bottom 3" will not be allowed to vote. The participant whose song has the least amount of votes at the end of the Elimination Round will be eliminated from the Song Contest.
- The two participants who survive the Elimination Round each week will be asked to submit a new elimination song at the beginning of the next round. Participants who were not involved in the Elimination Round need not submit a new elimination song each round. Any participant who is appearing in an Elimination Round for the first time following Week will have the option of using the elimination song they submitted at the beginning of Week 1 or submitting an entirely new elimination song.
- In addition to the above rules, there could be some twists and turns to the contest. So - not to borrow a catchphrase from another reality show - "expect the unexpected!" (Any twist that might happen won't be anything crazy like, "Adam came in last place in the elimination round, but I've decided to eliminate Jess - who was next to last - instead." Just some possible surprises, that's all. )
Sorry for the lengthy rules. You know by now I'm a "wordy" person, even though I don't mean to be. With that said, you can now start submitting your songs to me by PM. You have until Friday, September 13 at 11:59 PM North American Eastern Time to submit your Competition Song and your Elimination Song.
