20 hits to go. Here's the second last instalment! I'll provide brief commentary for each song from here on in:
Pos WK PP Title - Artist
20* 28 7 One More Night - Maroon 5
-While they were one of the top groups of 2004, Maroon 5 haven't been able to maintain the same level of hit status that they had then since. Moves Like Jagger was a Top 10 hit, their first since their second album and it was followed this year by Payphone (#10) and this song, which had a slow rise to #7.
19* 21 1 Live In This City - Dragonette
Dragonette have been charting since 2007, lead singer Martina Sorbara had her first hit in 2002. As a group, Live In This City was their first #1 despite having 8 Top 10 hits before it. Immediately after this song hit #1, album track My Legs did it too.
18 22 5 Heavyweight - Our Lady Peace
Gone are the days of OLP's prominence but they continue to release decent records, including Curve with first single Heavyweight, which tied All You Did Was Save My Life as their highest charting song since The Max began. Looking at points accumulated using the inverse points system, Heavyweight is the band's third biggest hit since 1998 behind only Somewhere Out There and Innocent.
17 22 5 Wide Awake - Katy Perry
The second single from the reinstalment of Teenage Dream but 8th overall, all of which made the Top 10.
Ranking the 8 singles from the album, they'd go like this:
E.T. - #2 (37 wks)
California Gurls - #1 (23 wks)
The One That Got Away - #3 (30 wks)
Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) - #2 (22 wks)
Wide Awake - #5 (22 wks)
Firework - #5 (19 wks)
Part Of Me - #4 (14 wks)
Teenage Dream - #7 (15 wks)
16* 24 4 Pyramids - Frank Ocean
Initially charted as an album track until the video came out, Pyramids was perhaps the song with the longest duration to chart in its original form on my chart with over 9 minutes of playtime.
15 26 6 Take Care - Drake f/Rihanna
A slow riser but eventually went on to become Drake's biggest hit and one of Rihanna's. Only two of her own singles have peaked higher (Umbrella #3 and We Found Love #4)
14 20 1 Slow It Down - Amy Macdonald
The first single from Max 100 favourite Amy Macdonald became her 4th #1 in 2012.
13 23 4 Ghost - Ingrid Michaelson
Ingrid had a big hit with this song, becoming her second Top 10 and highest charting song on The Max, though it didn't last long enough to surpass the points accumulated by her biggest hit, the #17 peaking The Way I Am.
12 22 1 That Wasn't Me - Brandi Carlile
One of Brandi's biggest hits, it became her fourth #1 single and helped kick off the year's biggest album for me, Bear Creek.
11 30 8 All The Rowboats - Regina Spektor
This song was released as a teaser track for Regina's new album and ended up doing better than either of the singles to come out after.
