A few weeks ago, Dragonette hit #1 with the song that became the 200th #1 on my chart since it began in 1998: Live In This City. It was also their first #1 single after charting with 17 songs before it.
Since Dragonette's lead singer Martina Sorbara also had a #1 song in 2002, she became the latest artist to hit #1 solo and with a band. This is the whole list:
• Rob Thomas/Matchbox Twenty Rob hit #1 with Santana on Smooth, which came years before his first solo album. He didn't have a song top my chart from either of his solo records but the billing for Smooth lists him rather than Matchbox Twenty. Matchbox Twenty hit #1 with If You're Gone, Mad Season and Bright Lights.
• Beyoncé/Destiny's Child Beyonce hit #1 on my chart as a featured artist twice. Once with Jay-Z on '03 Bonnie & Clyde and again with GaGa on Telephone. Destiny's Child hit #1 with Jumpin' Jumpin, Independent Women Part I and Emotion.
• Gwen Stefani/No Doubt Gwen hit #1 in 2005 with Hollaback Girl as well as being the featured guest on Let Me Blow Ya Mind by Eve. My chart began in 1998, several years after No Doubt domination that would have likely occurred in 1996-97, especially with Don't Speak. Therefore, it wasn't until this year that No Doubt earned their first #1.
• Martina Sorbara/Dragonette Martina hit #1 in 2002 with Bonnie & Clyde and again as the singer of Take Me Back To Your House by the Basement Jaxx in 2006. Dragonette first hit #1 weeks ago with Live In This City following nearly a dozen Top 10s.

Chad Kroeger/Nickelback Chad Kroeger had a 7-week #1 called Into The Night with Santana back in 2007-08. His band Nickelback has had six #1s: If Everyone Cared, Gotta Be Somebody, If Today Was Your Last Day, Shakin' Hands, This Afternoon and When We Stand Together.
Mark Foster/Foster The People Mark Foster had a #1 hit this past spring with A-Trak and Kimbra, the track called Warrior. That came less than a year after his band had two #1s on my chart: Pumped Up Kicks and Don't Stop (Color On The Walls).
Rob Thomas/Matchbox Twenty Rob Thomas had my 2nd-ever #1 hit back in 2007 with Little Wonders. Over five years later, during the summer of 2012, MB20 was #1 with She's So Mean. Both songs spent 3 weeks at #1.

Hard to believe in 15 years of my chart that it's only happened with one group and solo member - and the last time that happened was almost 6 years ago!! If my chart was older it may have happened more...
*N Sync/Justin Timberlake - *N Sync with "Pop", and JT with "Rock Your Body", "SexyBack", "FutureSexLoveSound", and "Love Stoned/I Think She Knows".

Also on the One Direction front: Niall Horan became their second solo member to top my chart this week as "Too Much To Ask" reaches #1. Somewhere, Complayn Malik is complayning that he has yet to reach #1 solo for me; his career peak so far I think is #8.
