Hello, on this hour's edition of... An Evening with The Max, I answer some good questions!
This group comes from Danny:
Why are you known as "The Max"?Ask the people that started referring to me as The Max. LOL. That started because my website was called The Max Online and my chart was The Max 40 chart so I guess people assumed that my name was "The Max" even though I had always referred to myself online as
Mike B. but
The Max caught on and it's been in use for about five years.
What's your first childhood memory?Dropping a bowl of porridge from my highchair? We were asked this in my developmental psychology class a few weeks back and most people's first memories are from when they were around 4 years old whereas mine was whenever I was still in my highchair. I'm thinking around two anyway. However, your first memory is usually something that is secluded from any other memory that you have and usually occurs long before you begin to have regular memory sets.
Do you drive? If so, what car have you got?I have my licence but I haven't driven since December. I don't have a car. My licence will expire in March unless I renew it.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time, and where would you ideally like to be?I see myself living in a different city. Just over 5 years ago was about the first time I began thinking about living outside of my home province and I've been here for over 4 years now. I'm thinking the move should take place then. I'm not sure where yet and I'm not sure what I'll be doing.
Ideally I'd like to be working on Tegan and Sara's or Sarah Slean's or Sarah Harmer's new record!
Do you have an advent calendar?I don't have one yet. I guess today is the last day to get one to take full advantage of it, eh?
When did you have your first kiss?My first kiss was just a peck on the lips, lol, but it meant the world to me and was when I was 12 at the end of grade 6 at a party. It was so much fun!
Can you cook? Are you any good?I can. I don't "cook" often due to lack of ideas and lack of patience but I like to sometimes. Usually the most cooking I do is making pasta or fajitas or something. I used to make pizzas all the time when I was in high school.
What was your first job?Working at a fish plant. LOL. It lasted for 13 straight days and it was dreadful.
@ you, Danny.
Thanks for the questions!
Next we some nutbag named
M! who has some questions to ask me.
Do you prefer Pulse or M4B?I like Pulse more because... oh wait.
And why. There we go. LOL. I was going to answer this question before it was asked.
I like Pulse more because I find that it has a much wider variety of topics and I can find out tons more about songs and albums and artists and such. It has a lot more new information. M4B does have some music discussions but only once in a while is there new information on album releases or songs going for adds or whathaveyou that I find interesting.
I also like that any topic at Pulse can result in a good discussion. Topics on songs can have discussion on all sorts of things and off-topic forum topics have great debate topics or just general interest ones that I find appealing.
I don't dislike M4B, otherwise I wouldn't come here. I just find that a lot of topics here tend to be very one dimensional and they rarely go anywhere. There's never any debates on social issues because everyone either agrees with everyone else or are too afraid to stand up and say "I disagree". This place is based more around Lists and inside-jokes so it's not as welcoming to people that aren't into that sort of thing.
What's one thing you would change about M4B?I'd say get people that are more opinionated to express more ideas and opinions on a wider range of subjects. lOL. Or make the people here do that more often. I love message boards to read opinions, not lists and pick the best 1 out of 3 or whatever. Those things are all fine but when there's little else in addition to those, it gets kind of boring.
Also, I find m4b has a lot of clique tendencies in that unless you're in one of the few cliques, you don't get included in a lot of discussions that do happen because those discussions often contain so many inside jokes and it's not fun for anyone else. For the most part, this board isn't welcoming to anyone that might lurk around first in that aspect unless you happen to talk to them on MSN beforehand and convince them to join.
Oh, and based on the past three questions, I'd like to add that one thing that really bothers me about M4B, well, not necessarily the board itself, is the hatred towards Pulse. You don't have to join it, you don't have to look at it, you don't have to talk about it, you don't even have to like it. The only reason why a very few select group of people here don't like Pulse is because of a very few select group of people at Pulse. Not because of the board layout or the incredible amount of information that comes out of there. People are just sour about it because of a few people. John admitted over there that most of the people HE disagreed with in the past either no longer post there or they have gotten past their differences. I'm of the belief that if John can like Pulse, anyone can because John was one of the ones that was treated unfairly at Pulse in the past. Don't let a few bad people ruin something for you. And don't let someone else tell you what to think about it. It's super annoying when most of the people that badmouth that place have never actually been there.
If you have been there and were banned for whatever reason and you still are banned, I can unban you!
LOL, ok, this looks like a recruiting thing and I'm not trying to recruit. One positive thing this place DOES have is that, despite the cliques and inside-jokes stuff, there is a feeling family amongst the regulars here. You don't find that at a lot of message boards so kudos to that.
I was just trying to set the record straight about Pulse. Not trying to convince anyone to join or anything. I'm just sick of the badmouthing that people here do.
oh, one more thing I'd like to change is the smilies. I have high speed but for whatever reason, every time I load a reply page or try to edit one of my posts, the smilies slow down my computer. It's good to have a larger choice than the usual proboards smilies but I find it more annoying than good.
More questions? ;d
