20. Vanessa Carlton - White Houses PEAK: #3Maybe you were all faster than me We gave each other up so easily These silly little wounds will never mend I feel so far from where I've been So I go, and I will not be back here again I'm gone as the day is fading on white houses I lie, put my injuries all in the dust In my heart is the five of us In white houses The first single from Vanessa's second album, Harmonium, made it all the way to #3 in October 2004. 19. Kimberley Locke - Wrong PEAK: #3You're wrong, and I'm strong Unafraid I'm moving on Cause I'm free to be me No one tells me who to be Cause you're wrong, and I'm strong Un-afraid I'm moving on Cause I'm free, to be me No one tells me who to be YeahAfter slowly climbing up to #1 with "Eighth World Wonder", this became an instant hit, but didn't reach the same heights as "Eighth World Wonder". 18. Kylie Minogue - Red Blooded Woman PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)(Boy, boy) Let me keep freaking around, I wanna get down I'm a red-blooded woman, what's the point of hanging around? (Boy, boy) I wanna keep turning it down, when this girl wants to rock with you, (Boy, boy) Let me keep freaking around, I wanna get down I'm a red-blooded woman, what's the point of hanging around? (Boy, boy) I wanna keep turning it down, when this girl wants to rock with youThe only song from Body Language I like was able to reach #1 for two weeks. 17. Jessica Simpson - With You PEAK: #2But with you I can let my hair down I can say anything crazy I know you'll catch me Right before I hit the ground With nothin but a t-shirt on I never felt so beautiful Baby as I do now Now that I'm with youOne of the biggest surprises to me was that this song actually did good on the radio. This managed to spend a week at #2, but couldn't beat Evanescence's "My Immortal" for #1. 16. Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You PEAK: #3Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby Some people want diamond rings Some just want everything But everything means nothing If I ain't got youThis matched the peak of "You Don't Know My Name", but outranks it on the year-end thanks to it re-entering in July for a few weeks when it crossed over from rhythmic top 40, to mainstream top 40. 15. Brandy f/ Kanye West- Talk About Our Love PEAK: #1 (1 week)The more they talk about our love The more they make it obvious The more they seem so envious How can they talk about our love When they don't know one thing about Instead they just runnin they mouth So all we do is tune them outThis song wouldn't have been so successful on my chart, if it weren't for Top Hits Online. It spent one week at #1, but IMO, the rest of the album was a disappointment. 14. Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly. I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. Make a wish, take a chance, Make a change, and break away. Out of the darkness and into the sun. But I won't forget all the ones that I love. I'll take a risk, take a chance, Make a change, and break awayOne of my favorite songs of the year, this song from the movie The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement spent four weeks at #1. 13. Jessica Simpson - Take My Breath Away PEAK: #1 (1 week)Watching I keep waiting Still anticipating love Never hesitating To become the fated ones, oh yeah Turning and returning To some secret place inside Watching in slow motion As you turn around and say, my love
Take my breath away Take my breath away, oh woah yeahThe highest of Jessica's three songs to hit my year-end chart. This was her first and only #1 so far. 12. JoJo - Leave (Get Out) PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)Get Out, (Leave) Right Now, It's the end of you and me It's too late (now) and I can't wait For you to be gone Cuz I know about her and I wonder how I brought all the lies You said that you would treat me right but you were just a waste of timeBetter known as JoHo by the Variety FM DJs ( ), This song spent two weeks at #1 in July. After hitting #1, she bubbled under THANKFULLY with "Baby It's You". 11. Ashlee Simpson - Shadow PEAK: #2Living in the shadow Of someone else's dream Trying to find a hand to hold but every touch felt cold to me Living in a nightmare A never-ending sleep But now that I am wide awake My chains are finally free Don't feel sorry for meYou might remember when this song debuted at #8 on my chart because her debut album was one of my favorites of the moment. Unlike "Pieces Of Me", this couldn't get to #1, but was able to spend all but one week in the top ten in its chart run.

10. Seether f/ Amy Lee - Broken PEAK: #2‘Cause I’m broken when I’m open And I don’t feel like I am strong enough ‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome And I don’t feel light when you’re gone awayAfter debuting at #14 in June, this looked like it was going to quickly drop off after peaking in its third week, but it eventually made it to #2 in August. 9. Beyonce' - Naughty Girl PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)Tonight I'll be your naughty girl I'm callin all my girls We're gonna turn this party out I know you want my body Tonight I'll be your naughty girl I'm callin all my girls I see you look me up and down And I came to partyBeyonce's third appearance on my top 50 of 2004, in addition to her solo hit "Me, Myself, & I" and "Lose My Breath" with Destiny's Child, this easily hit #1 in May because there weren't enough #1 worthy songs out back then on my chart. 8. Evanescence - My Immortal PEAK: #1 (7 weeks)When you cried i'd wipe away all of your tears When you'd scream i'd fight away all of your fears And i've held your hand through all of these years But you still have all of meThis spent seven weeks at #1 and wasn't even suppossed to spend seven weeks at #1, but a change in musical taste allowed it's long stay at #1, without being obsessed with it. 7. Avril Lavigne - Don't Tell Me PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)Did you think that I was gonna give it up to you, this time? Did you think that I was somethin I was gonna do and cry? Don't try to tell me what to do, Dont try to tell me what to say, Your better off that wayThis song went all the way to #1 not only because I thought it was going to beat Hoobastank's "The Reason" on M4B's top 50 and Top Hits Online, but because I started playing this song a lot on my CD player, replacing Madonna, who I was beginning to lose interest in back then. 6. Ashlee Simpson - Pieces Of Me PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)Ohhhh It seems like I can finally Rest my head on something real I like the way that feels Ohhhh It’s as if you know me better Than I ever knew myself I love how you can tell All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me All the pieces, pieces, pieces of me
This song was able to stay at #1 for four weeks, and remain on the chart for twenty weeks because I never burned out on it. If you listen to Variety FM, you'll remember Asleep Simslut ( ) was the first #1 to be played during the JT25 countdown. 5. Sarah McLachlan - Stupid PEAK: #5How stupid could I be A simpleton could see That you're no good for me But you're the only one I seeThis song is one of two Sarah McLachlan songs on the year-end. "World On Fire" was #22, and peaked higher than "Stupid", but the high year-end peak for Sarah's "Stupid" comes from spending twenty-three weeks on JT25. 4. Liz Phair - Extraordinary PEAK: #3I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary Average every day sane psycho Supergoddess Average every day sane psychoThe second single from Liz Phair's self-titled album is one spot higher on this year's year-end chart than her last single, "Why Can't I?" was on last year's chart. 3. Hilary Duff - Come Clean PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)Let the rain fall down And wake my dreams Let it wash away My sanity 'Cause I wanna feel the thunder I wanna scream Let the rain fall down I'm coming clean, I'm coming cleanThe second single from Hilary Duff's album, Metamorphosis, matches the rank of her last single, "So Yesterday", on the top 50 of 2003. As a matter of fact, both songs spent two weeks at #1. 2. Kimberley Locke - Eighth World Wonder PEAK: #1 (1 week)Seven days and seven nights of thunder The water's rising and I'm slipping under I think I fell in love with the eighth world wonderReaching #1 on my chart in its 23rd week, this song set a record for longest time on my chart with twenty-eight consecutive weeks.

So, what is my #1 song OF THE YEAR? Well, here's your answer: 1. Alanis Morissette - Eight Easy Steps PEAK: #1 (12 weeks)How to stay paralyzed by fear of abandonment How to defer to men in solveable predicaments How to control someone to be a carbon copy of you How to have that not work and have them run away from you
How to keep people at arms length and never get too close How to mistrust the ones who supposedly love the most How to pretend you're fine and don't need help from anyone How to feel worthless unless you're serving or helping someone
[Chorus:] I'll teach you all this in 8 easy steps A course of a lifetime you'll never forget I'll show you how to in 8 easy steps I'll show you how leaderships looks when tought by the best
How to hate women when you're supposed to be a feminist How to play all pious when you're really a hypocrite How to hate god when you're a player and a spiritualist How to sabotage your fantasies by fears of success
[Chorus]
I've been doing research for years I've been practicing my ass off I've been training my whole life for this moment I swear to you Culminating just to be this well-versed leader before you
[Chorus]
How to lie to yourself and thereby to everyone else How to keep smiling when you're thinking of killing yourself How to numb a la holic to avoid going within How to stay stuck in blue by blaming them for everything
[Chorus]Well, what can I say? It's a song by a little somebody from Canada, spent 12 weeks at #1 on my chart, beat Madonna's record, and just plain rocks! "Eight Easy Steps" is my favorite song of 2004, and is also the #1 song on my top 50 of 2004, after beating the rest through fierce competition on my chart during the months of September, October, and November. YAY!

Your #1 is just as predictable as mine ;D Great chart.
You have a song in your top 10 that has the exact same peak in my top 10.
